# Śukadeva Gosvāmī > [!summary] > *Śukadeva Gosvāmī is the ideal speaker of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. As the son of Vyāsadeva, he was liberated from birth and had no interest in material affairs. Though already self-realized in impersonal Brahman, Śukadeva was attracted by the transcendental qualities of Lord Kṛṣṇa described in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. He spoke the entire Bhāgavatam to Mahārāja Parīkṣit in seven days, demonstrating that even liberated souls are attracted to the Supreme Personality of Godhead. He is counted among the twelve mahājanas and is the perfect example of a transcendental teacher.* !images/all-catalogs/0023_SB-1-1-cover.jpg ## Liberated from Birth !sb/1/2/2 !sb/1/7/11 ## Attracted to Krishna's Qualities !sb/1/7/10 !sb/2/1/9 ## The Authority on Bhagavatam !sb/1/1/3 !sb/1/3/41 ## A Mahajana and Spiritual Master !sb/1/9/19 !sb/2/8/25 ## Speaks with Perfect Knowledge !sb/2/8/26 !sb/2/1/8 ## Recites the Entire Bhagavatam !sb/1/3/44 !sb/1/4/7 ## From the Scriptures **Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam** — Sukadeva is the narrator of the entire work: - SB 1.19: The Appearance of Śukadeva Gosvāmī — His arrival at Parikshit's assembly - SB 1.7: The Son of Droṇa Punished — His attraction to Krishna's qualities - Canto 2 through Canto 12 — He narrates the entire Bhāgavatam ## Related Articles - Vyāsadeva — His father who compiled the Bhāgavatam - King Parīkṣit — Who heard from him - The speaker and listener of Bhāgavatam — Their divine exchange - The twelve Mahajanas — Śukadeva as one of the authorities - The glories of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam — What he spoke ## From the Index - Śukadeva Gosvāmī — The ideal speaker - Srimad-Bhāgavatam — Spoken by Sukadeva - Mahajanas — Sukadeva as one of twelve
