# The Spiritual Energy *On the internal energy, spiritual nature, and our original position* --- ### Real Liberation > We are spirit soul. *Ahaṁ brahmāsmi.* That is my position. But being designated in a different way, I have become a servant of that designation. The definition of *mukti,* or liberation, or becoming free from the designation, is given in the *Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, muktir hitvānyathā rūpaṁ sva-rūpeṇa vyavasthitiḥ. Mukti* means when we give up the service in designation and we are situated in our original constitutional position. — Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 6.1.1, Melbourne, 1975 --- ### Beyond Designation > *Sarva upādhi-vinirmuktam. Upādhi* means designation. I am spirit soul, but because I have accidentally, or my result action, resultant action of my past *karma,* I am thinking, "I am Indian," somebody is thinking "I am American." So this is the designation of the soul. I am neither Indian, nor somebody is American, somebody is Australian. We are living soul, *ahaṁ brahmāsmi.* That is my position. — Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 6.1.1, Melbourne, 1975 --- ### Eternal Servant > My own constitutional position? I am eternal servant of God, Kṛṣṇa. This is my position. So when we give up all these designation service and engage myself in the real service of the real master, that is called *mukti,* liberation. — Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 6.1.1, Melbourne, 1975 --- ### Qualitatively One > We must know that we are not this body but spirit soul, and as such, we are part and parcel of God and therefore qualitatively one with God, exactly like a small particle of gold is also gold as is the gold from the big gold mine. But quantitatively the particle of gold is not equal to the gold in the mine. — Room Conversation, Vṛndāvana, 1975 --- ### Becoming Spiritualized > If you take a iron rod and put into the fire. It becomes warm, warmer, and at last it becomes red hot. When the iron rod is red hot, it is no longer iron rod; it is fire. If you touch the iron rod, red hot, anywhere, it will act as fire. Similarly, if you engage your mind in Kṛṣṇa activity, the mind becomes Kṛṣṇaized gradually, and when he is advanced, there is no material activities, all spiritual activities. — Garden Conversation, Los Angeles, 1975 --- ### Healthy Spiritual State > These are all material necessities. So if you come to the spiritual platform, the test is that you have no material necessities. So long you are diseased, you require medicine, but when you are not diseased there is no need of medicine. It is the healthy state. So, so long we are materially diseased, we require all these material necessities. So when you are on the spiritual platform there is no material necessities. — Garden Conversation, Los Angeles, 1975 --- ### Test of Advancement > *Bhaktiḥ pareśānubhavo viraktir anyatra syat.* Your spiritual advancement means you become reluctant, disgusted with this: "No more." Just like Yamunācārya, he explains his position: "Since I have begun my Kṛṣṇa consciousness, the more I advance I become very much detestful for sex life. As soon as I think of sex life, I spit on it." This is the test. — Garden Conversation, Los Angeles, 1975 --- ### Service Is Our Nature > Just like this finger is not separated from the whole body; a part of the body. What is the duty of the part and parcel? Just like this finger. I am feeling some itching sensation; immediately comes, naturally, without asking. It's always ready to serve. This is the duty of the part and parcel. So if we are part and parcel of God, then what is our duty? To serve God, that's all. This is our duty. — Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 6.1.43, Los Angeles, 1976 --- ### Healthy Condition > When we are engaged in Kṛṣṇa consciousness and engaged in service of the Lord, that is our healthy state. That is *mukti,* liberation. *Mukti* means no disease. So when we deny to serve Kṛṣṇa, when we are not engaged in the service of Kṛṣṇa, that is our diseased condition; that is not healthy condition. — Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 6.1.43, Los Angeles, 1976 --- ### Not This Body > We are not this body. Kṛṣṇa teaches this idea in the beginning of the *Bhagavad-gītā, dehino 'smin yathā dehe kaumāraṁ yauvanaṁ jarā tathā dehāntara prāptir dhīras tatra na muhyati.* This is the beginning of spiritual education, that every one of us is not this body. — Room Conversation, Vṛndāvana, 1975 --- *10 quotes from Śrīla Prabhupāda on the spiritual energy* Back to Quotes
