# Lord Brahmā
> [!summary]
> *Lord Brahmā is the first created being in the universe, born from the lotus that sprouted from Lord Viṣṇu's navel. As the secondary creator, he engineers the material cosmos under the direction of the Supreme Lord. Despite his exalted position, Brahmā is a devotee of Viṣṇu and admits his own limitations. He is the head of the Brahma-sampradāya, one of the four authorized disciplic successions, and is counted among the twelve mahājanas or great authorities on devotional service.*
