# Hanumān > [!summary] > *Hanumān (also known as Vajrāṅgajī) is the great devotee of Lord Rāmacandra, celebrated throughout the universe as the ideal servant of the Lord. He attained the highest perfection through dāsya-rasa — the mood of servitorship. His devotion is characterized by unflinching loyalty, superhuman strength employed entirely in the Lord's service, and the ability to transform even wrath into a spiritual asset. Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu Himself visited Hanumān's temple and offered obeisances, demonstrating the greatness of this eternal devotee. To this day, Hanumān eternally worships Lord Rāmacandra in Kimpuruṣa-varṣa along with the inhabitants of that celestial land.* !images/all-catalogs/0031_SB-1_1_12.jpg ## Perfection Through Service Hanumān is cited as the perfect example of one who attained the highest goal — the lotus feet of the Supreme Lord — through the process of dāsya, rendering service. Among the nine processes of devotional service, Hanumān excelled in the fourth: pāda-sevanam, serving the Lord's lotus feet. !cc/madhya/22/136 ## Eternal Devotion in Kimpuruṣa-varṣa Śukadeva Gosvāmī describes how the great devotee Hanumān eternally worships Lord Rāmacandra in Kimpuruṣa-varṣa. He is designated as parama-bhāgavata — the topmost devotee — and his service is avirata, uninterrupted and continuous. !sb/5/19/1#translation ## Hanumān's Prayers to Lord Rāma In Kimpuruṣa-varṣa, Hanumān offers beautiful prayers glorifying Lord Rāmacandra as the King of kings, the touchstone that verifies all good qualities, and the Lord who teaches by His own exemplary character. !sb/5/19/3#translation ## Transforming Wrath into Devotion Śrīla Prabhupāda cites Hanumān as the prime example of how even wrath can be spiritualized when employed in Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Rather than being an enemy, Hanumān's powerful anger became his friend because it was directed entirely toward the Lord's enemies for the Lord's satisfaction. !lust and wrath, when they are employed ## The Bridge to Laṅkā Hanumān's mighty exploits in service to Lord Rāma include burning the kingdom of Laṅkā and leading the monkey army in constructing the famous bridge across the ocean. These feats demonstrate that unlimited strength, when offered to the Lord, becomes the means of liberation. !sb/9/10/16 ## From the Scriptures **Bhagavad-gita:** - Bg. 3.37 — Wrath spiritualized in Kṛṣṇa consciousness **Srimad-Bhagavatam:** - SB 5.19.1 — Eternal worship in Kimpuruṣa-varṣa - SB 5.19.2 — The inhabitants follow Hanumān - SB 5.19.3 — Hanumān's prayers to Lord Rāma - SB 9.10.16 — Building the bridge, burning Laṅkā **Sri Caitanya-caritamrta:** - Madhya 22.136 — Perfection through dāsya - Madhya 8.300 — Caitanya Mahāprabhu visits Hanumān's temple - Madhya 9.11 — Reference to Hanumān ## Related Articles - Lord Rāmacandra — His eternal master - The nine processes of devotional service — Including dāsya - The rasas of devotion — The five primary relationships - Service to the Lord — Practical engagement - The qualifications of a devotee — Vaishnava qualities ## From the Index - Hanumān — Index entry (26 references) - Devotees — Associates of the Lord
