# Vidura the wise *Vidura was one of the greatest devotees of Lord Krishna, despite being born as the son of a maidservant. He is considered a mahajana (great authority) and was actually Yamaraja (the lord of death) incarnated due to a sage's curse. Known for his wisdom and righteousness, Vidura fearlessly spoke the truth to Dhritarashtra and advised him to give the Pandavas their rightful kingdom. When his words were rejected, he left on pilgrimage and received transcendental knowledge from Maitreya Muni.
