# Transcendental emotions
*The science of transcendental emotions (bhava and prema) is elaborately described in the devotional literatures, especially Bhakti-rasamrita-sindhu by Rupa Goswami. These spiritual emotions are completely different from material sentiments and are experienced by advanced devotees. They include various ecstatic symptoms such as tears, trembling, and standing of the bodily hairs, which manifest automatically in one absorbed in devotional love.*
