# The rasas of devotion
*Rasa refers to the transcendental mellow or relationship between the living entity and the Supreme Lord. There are five primary rasas: neutrality (santa), servitude (dasya), friendship (sakhya), parenthood (vatsalya), and conjugal love (madhurya). Each successive rasa includes the qualities of the previous ones, with conjugal love containing all other rasas. These relationships are eternal and constitute the highest spiritual experience.*
