# Queen Kunti's prayers
![[images/sb-plates/sb_01_02_plate_02.jpg]]
*Queen Kunti, the mother of the Pandavas, is renowned for her exalted prayers to Lord Krishna recorded in the first canto of Srimad-Bhagavatam. Though she was Krishna's aunt and suffered immensely throughout her life, Kunti saw these calamities as blessings because they increased her dependence on the Lord. Her prayers reveal the highest understanding of devotion — she asks for more difficulties so that she may always remember Krishna, rather than pray for material comforts. This mood of welcoming adversity for the sake of devotion exemplifies the consciousness of a pure devotee.*
