# Dhruva Maharaja the child devotee
![[images/all-catalogs/0083_SB-2-2-2.jpg]]
*Dhruva Maharaja is one of the most celebrated devotees in Vedic history. At just five years old, he left home determined to see God, driven by the insult of his stepmother who denied him his father's lap. Though initially motivated by material ambition, through the mercy of Narada Muni and his own intense austerities, Dhruva achieved the direct vision of Lord Vishnu. Upon seeing the Lord, all his material desires vanished, and he attained pure devotion. He later ruled as an ideal king and ultimately returned to the spiritual world on a special airplane.*
