# Devaki and Vasudeva
*Devaki and Vasudeva are the eternal parents of Lord Krishna who appeared in this world to facilitate His advent in the Yadu dynasty. Imprisoned by the tyrant Kamsa, who had killed their previous six children, they witnessed the Lord's miraculous appearance in His four-armed Vishnu form. In previous lives as Prishni and Sutapa, they had performed severe austerities desiring the Supreme Lord as their son. Though externally appearing as ordinary parents, Devaki and Vasudeva are eternally liberated souls serving the Lord in the mood of parental affection.*
