[00:14]kälam-the eternal time;
[00:19]éçänam-the Supreme Lord;
[00:24]anädi-nidhanam-without beginning and end;
[00:30]vibhum-all-pervading;
[00:34]samam-equally merciful;
[00:38]carantam-distributing;
[00:42]sarvatra-everywhere;
[00:46]bhütänäm-of the living beings;
[00:50]yat mithaù-by intercourse;
[00:55]kaliù-dissension.
[00:58]“My Lord, I consider Your Lordship to be eternal time, the Supreme Controller,
[01:05]without beginning and end, the all-pervasive one. In distributing Your mercy,
[01:10]You are equal to everyone. The dissensions between living beings are due to social intercourse.”
[01:17]In the Bhagavad-gétä Kåñëa says exactly the same thing. This is explained by Kunté, a devotee.
[01:34]The same thing is spoken by the Lord Himself.
[01:40]Samo ‘haà sarva-bhüteñu na me dveñyo ‘sti na priyaù,
[01:46]ye tu bhajanti mäà bhaktyä teñu te mayi.
[01:54]God cannot be partial. That is not possible. Everyone is God’s son.
[02:07]So how God can be partial to one son and, better than the other son?
[02:16]That is not possible. That is our mistake. We write: “We trust in God,” but we make discrimination.
[02:31]If you trust in God, then you must be equally kind and merciful to all living entities.
[02:44]That is God consciousness. So Kåñëa says: “I have no enemies, neither I have got friends.”
[02:59]Na me dveñyo ‘sti na priyaù.
[03:03]Dveñya means enemy. We, we are envious of our enemy and we are friendly to our friends.
[03:13]So Kåñëa is absolute. Even He appears to be inimical to some demon,
[03:26]actually He’s friend. When a demon is killed, that means his demonic activities are killed.
[03:38]He becomes a saint immediately. Otherwise how he’s promoted immediately to the brahmajyoti?
[03:47]All these demons who were killed by Kåñëa, they immediately merge into the brahmajyoti-nirviçeña.
[03:58]The only difference is, of course, the brahmajyoti, Paramätmä and Bhagavän.
[04:06]They are one. Vadanti tat tattva-vidas tattvam [Bhäg. 1.2.11]. That is one truth,
[04:14]Absolute Truth, in different features only. Brahmeti paramätmeti bhagavän iti çabdyate.
[04:24] Originally Bhagavän, His plenary representation is Paramätmä who is situated in everyone’s heart.
[04:36]Éçvaraù sarva-bhütänäà håd-deçe ‘rjuna tiñöhati [Bg. 18.61].
[04:42]The plenary portion Kñérodakaçäyé Viñëu, He is in everyone’s heart.
[04:54]That is Paramätmä. And Brahman, Paramätmä, and Bhagavän. The ultimate issue is Bhagavän.
[05:06]So ye yathä mäà prapadyante. Now He’s equal to everyone.
[05:17]It is up to the devotees or persons who are trying to understand the Supreme Absolute Truth.
[05:29]According to their capacity of understanding, the Absolute Truth, God, is revealed,
[05:40]either as impersonal Brahman or localized Paramätmä or Bhagavän. It is up to me.
[05:50]The same example as I have repeated many times. Just like we see sometimes the hills from our room.
[06:00]Here there are many hills in Los Angeles. But they are not distinct.
[06:07]When you are seeing the hills from a distant place, it looks like something cloudy.
[06:15]But if you go still further towards the hill, you’ll distinctly find that there is something, hill.
[06:26]And if you come to the hill, then you’ll find so many persons are working there,
[06:32]so many houses are there. There are streets, motorcars, everything, all varieties.
[06:37]So similarly, when one wants to know the Absolute Truth by his teeny brain,
[06:49]“I shall make research to find out the Absolute Truth,” then you’ll have vague idea, impersonal idea.
[07:00]And if you become a meditator, then you will find that God is situated within your heart.
[07:14]Dhyänävasthita-tad-gatena manasä paçyanti yaà yoginaù [SB 12.13.1].
[07:20]The yogis, the real yogis, they, by meditation, they see viñëu-mürti within the heart.
[07:30]And those who are devotees, they meet the Supreme Person face to face just like we are meeting face to face,
[07:46]talk face to face, serve directly. The Supreme Personality of Godhead orders that:
[07:59]“You supply me this,” and he supplies. That is the difference.
[07:06]So samo ‘haà sarva-bhüteñu.
[08:02]He’s equal to everyone. Now it is up to you to understand Him according to your capacity.
[08:10]So Kunté also says the same thing in this verse: samaà carantaà sarvatra.
[08:21]Samaà carantam. Carantam means moving. He is moving everywhere, outside,
[08:33]inside, simply we have to make our eyes clear to see Him.
[08:42]That is devotional service, to make our senses purified to perceive the presence of God.
[08:54]God is present everywhere. Antar bahiù. Antaù means within and bahiù means without.
[09:04]“Those who are less intelligent, they simply try to find out God within,
[09:13]and those who are advanced in intelligence, they can see You within and without.”
[09:21]That is the difference.
[09:25]Meditation is meant for the less intelligent class of men.
[09:32]Meditation means you have to control the senses. Yoga practice means yoga indriya-saàyama.
[09:42]Our senses are very restless.
[09:45]By yoga practice, by, I mean to say, practicing different äsanas, so mind is controlled, the senses are controlled.
[09:58]Then we can concentrate upon the form of Viñëu with our heart.
[10:06]That is yoga system. Or those who are too much in bodily concept of life,
[10:17]for them the yoga system is recommended, practicing the bodily exercise,
[10:26]and find out the Supreme Lord within the heart.
[10:30]But bhaktas, those who are devotees, who are still more advanced,
[10:39]they don’t require to control their senses separately,
[10:45]because to be engaged in devotional service means controlling the senses.
[10:53]Suppose you are engaged in worshiping the Deity, in cleansing the room, in decorating the Deity,
[11:05]in making foodstuff for Deity, everything nicely… So your senses are already engaged.
[11:13]Where is the chance of your senses being diverted? The senses are already controlled.
[11:21]Because my senses, håñékeëa håñékeça-sevanaà bhaktir ucyate [Cc. Madhya 19.170].
[11:30]Bhakti means simply to engage the senses in the service of the master of the senses.
[11:38]Håñékeça means master of the senses, and håñéka means senses.
[11:44]So now our senses are engaged for sense gratification.
[11:52]Sarvopädhi, upädhi yuktaù. So I am this body. So I must satisfy my senses.
[12:04]This is the contaminated stage of life. But when one comes to the understanding that
[12:15]I am not this body, I am spirit soul, part and parcel of God,
[12:19]so my senses, spiritual senses, should be engaged in the service of the Supreme Spiritual Being.
[12:28]That is wanted.
[12:33]That is mukti. Mukti means: hitvä anyathä-rüpam.
[12:40]When we are conditioned, we give up our original constitutional position.
[12:48]Our original constitutional position is, as Caitanya Mahäprabhu says:
[12:54]jévera svarüpa haya nitya-kåñëa-däsa [Cc. Madhya 20.108-109].
[12:58]Our original constitutional position is that we are eternal servant of Kåñëa.
[13:06]So as soon as we employ ourself in the service of the Lord, immediately we become liberated.
[13:15]Immediately. there is no question of passing through some process.
[13:23]This very process, to engage oneself, engage one’s senses in the service of the Lord, means he is liberated.
[13:34]So this liberation is open for everyone. Samaà carantam. Kåñëa does not say that:
[13:43]“You come to Me. You become liberated.” No. He’s open for everyone.
[13:51]He says: sarva-dharmän parityajya mäm ekaà çaraëaà vraja [Bg. 18.66].
[13:56]He speaks to everyone. Not that He’s speaking to Arjuna only. He’s speaking to everyone.
[14:03]Bhagavad-gétä is spoken not only for Arjuna. Arjuna is the, just like the target.
[14:09]But it is spoken for everyone, for all human beings. So one has to take advantage.
[14:16]Samaà carantam. He’s not partial that: “You become…” Just like the sunshine. The sunshine is not partial that:
[14:30]“Here is a poor man, here is a low-class man, here is a hog.
[14:36]I shall not distribute my shining there.” No. Sun is equal. One has to take advantage of it.
[14:47]The sunshine is there open, but if you close your door, if you want to keep yourself in airtight darkness, that is your business.
[14:59]Similarly Kåñëa is everywhere. Kåñëa is for everyone. Kåñëa is ready to accept you as soon as you surrender.
[15:13]Samaà carantam. There is no restriction. Kåñëa says:
[15:18]mäà hi pärtha vyapäçritya ye ‘pi syuù päpa-yonayaù [Bg. 9.32].
[15:22]They make distinction that this is lower class, this is higher class. So Kåñëa says,
[15:30]“Even lower class, so-called lower class, it doesn’t matter, if he takes to Me,
[15:36]then he’s also eligible to go, come back to home, back to Godhead.” Samaà carantam.
[15:43]And He’s the eternal time. Everything is going on within the time.
[15:53]The time… Our time calculation is past present, and future. This is relative.
[16:03]The other day we were discussing. This past, present, future is relative term.
[16:10]The, for a small insect, the past, present and future is different from my past,
[16:20]present and future. Relative term. Similarly Brahmä’s past, present and future is different
[16:29]from my past, present and future. But Kåñëa has no past, present and future.
[16:36]Therefore He’s eternal. We have got past, present and future
[16:43]because we change this body. Now we have got this body…
[16:45]It has got a date. In such and such date I was born by my father and mother.
[16:59]Now this body will stay for some time. It will grow. It will produce some by-product.
[17:09]Then it will become old. Then dwindle. Then vanish, finish. No more this body.
[17:17]You accept another body. this body’s finished. The history of this body,
[17:22]past, present, and future, finished. You accept another body.
[17:26]Again your past, present and future begins.
[17:31]But Kåñëa has no past, present, futures because He does not change His body.
[17:38]That is the difference between ourself and Kåñëa.
[17:44]Just like Kåñëa spoke to Arjuna that: “In the past, I spoke to the Sun-god about this philosophy,
[17:56]Bhagavad-gétä.” So Arjuna could not believe it. Arjuna knew everything,
[18:06]but for our, our education, he put this question that: “Kåñëa, we are contemporary,
[18:12]we are born practically in the same period. How can I believe that
[18:19]You spoke this philosophy to the Sun-god?” And the reply was that:
[18:24]“My dear Arjuna, you were also present there, but you have forgotten. I have not forgotten.
[18:32]That is the difference.” Past, present, future, for persons who forget.
[18:39]But who does not forget, who remains eternally, there is no past, present, future.
[18:46]Therefore, Kunté is addressing Kåñëa as eternal. Manye tväà kälam.
[18:59]And because He is eternal, éçänam, He is full controller. Kunté says: manye,
[19:11]“I think…” By the behavior of Kåñëa, she could understand that Kåñëa is eternal,
[19:18]Kåñëa is the Supreme Controller. Anädi-nidhanam. Anädi-nidhana…
[19:28]There is no beginning, there is no end. Therefore vibhum. Vibhu means the Supreme,
[19:41]the greatest. Vibhu. We are aëu, we are smallest, and Kåñëa is the biggest.
[19:47]Kåñëa is also, because we are part and parcel of Kåñëa.
[20:15]Therefore Kåñëa is both the smallest and the biggest.
[20:01]We are simply smallest. But Kåñëa is both. Kåñëa, vibhu, greatest means all-inclusive.
[20:14]In the great, if you have got a big bag, you can hold so many things. In small bag you cannot do that.
[20:23]So Kåñëa is vibhu. He includes the time, past, present and future.
[20:31]He includes everything and He’s everywhere. That is vibhu. Vibhu, all-pervading.
[20:40]Kåñëa is everywhere. Aëòäntara-stha-paramäëu-cayäntara-stham.
[20:48]In the Brahma-saàhitä it is said that Kåñëa… Because without Kåñëa, the matter cannot develop.
[20:54]The scientists, the atheist scientists, they say that life comes out of matter.
[21:02]That is nonsense. No. Matter is one energy of Kåñëa, and spirit is another energy.
[21:14]The spirit is superior energy, and the matter is inferior energy. The matter develops when there is superior energy.
[21:26]Just like this country, America. The same America was two hundred years ago,
[21:35]three hundred years ago, the land, but it was not developed.
[21:42]But because some superior living entities from Europe came here, now America is so much developed.
[21:52]Therefore the cause of development is the superior energy.
[21:57]The inferior energy, there are so many vacant land lying still. Just like in Africa, Australia.
[22:08]They’re called “undeveloped.” Why undeveloped? Because the superior energy,
[22:15]living entity, has not touched it. As soon as the superior energy, living entity, will touch it,
[22:30]the same land will develop so many factories, houses, cities, roads, cars, everything, as we can develop.
[22:37]Therefore the conclusion is that matter cannot develop out of itself.
[22:47]No. That is not possible. The superior energy must touch it.
[22:53]Then it will be, will, active. There are so many machines. That is matter. Inferior energy.
[23:05]Unless a operator comes to touch the machine, it will not act.
[23:09]First-class motor car, very costly motor car machine, but unless a driver comes,
[23:21]it will stand for millions of years there. There is no use. This common sense is lacking.
[23:30]The matter cannot work independently unless the superior energy, living entity, touches it.
[23:38]This is common sense. So how these rascal scientists say that life develops from matter?
[23:50]No. How it can be concluded? There is no such instances. They falsely say that…
[24:00]They do not have sufficient knowledge.
[24:03]So these universes, they have also developed on account of Kåñëa’s presence.
[24:14]Therefore Brahma-saàhitä says: aëòäntara-stha-paramäëu-cayäntara-s…
[24:22]They are studying now atoms. So many things are going on, electrons, protons, Why?
[24:31]Because the Kåñëa is there. This is really science. So Kåñëa has no past, present and future.
[24:39]He is eternal time. He has no beginning. He has no end. And He is equal to everyone.
[24:47]Samaà carantam. Simply we have to prepare ourself to see Kåñëa, to understand Kåñëa.
[24:55]That is the business of Kåñëa consciousness.
[24:57]Thank you very much.
