[14.28]krsnaya vasudevaya devaki-nandanaya ca nanda-gopa-kumaraya govindaya namo namah
[20:01]krsnaya-the Supreme Lord;
[20:04]vasudevaya-unto the son of Vasudeva;
[20:08]devaki-nandanaya-unto the son of Devaki;
[20:20]nanda-gopa-Nanda and the cowherd men;
[20:25]kumaraya-unto their son;
[20:31]govindaya-unto the Personality of Godhead, who enlivens the cows and the senses;
[20:50]“Let me therefore offer my respectful obeisances unto the Lord, who has
[20:57]become the son of Vasudeva, the pleasure of Devaki, the boy of Nanda and
[21:02]the other cowherd men of Vrndavana, and the enlivener of the cows and senses.”
[21:07]So in the beginning Kuntidevi said that namasye purusam tvadyam isvaram prakrteh param:
[21:24]“I offer my obeisances unto the person, purusam, who is prakrteh param, who is beyond this material manifestation.”
[21:40]Krsna is complete spirit soul, Supersoul. He has no material body.
[21:53]So in the beginning Kuntidevi gave us this understanding that God, the supreme purusa… Purusa means person.
[22:11]He’s not imperson. Purusa. But He’s not a purusa of this material world, not a personality of this material creation.
[22:24]That is to be understood. The impersonalists cannot accommodate in their poor fund of knowledge
[22:38]how the Supreme Absolute Truth can become a person, because whenever they think of person they
[22:47]think of a person of this material world. That is their defect. So they have poor fund of knowledge.
[23:00]Why God should be a person of this material world? So that was cleared in the beginning.
[23:08]Prakrteh param, beyond this material creation, but He is a person.
[23:14]So now that personality, although alaksyam, invisible, now, by the grace of Kunti, we can understand
[23:28]that although the Supreme Person is invisible, now He has appeared to be visible, Krsna.
[23:38]Therefore she says: krsnaya vasudevaya. Vasudeva conception.
[23:47]Sometimes the impersonalists, they have vasudeva conception,
[23:52]means all-pervading. So Kuntidevi is pointing out, “That Vasudeva is Krsna, all-pervading.”
[24:01]Krsna, by His Vasudeva feature, He is all-pervading.
[24:11]Isvarah sarva-bhutanam hrd-dese ‘rjuna tisthati [Bg. 18.61].
[24:16]This feature of Krsna… Krsna, the original person, has got three features: as the
[24:25]Supreme Personality of Godhead; as all-pervading Paramatma, Supersoul;
[24:31]and impersonal Brahman effulgence. So those who are interested in bhakti-yoga,
[24:43]they have no business with the impersonal Brahman effulgence. That is for common men.
[24:50] Common men. Just like you can try to understand: those who are inhabitants of the sun planet,
[25:03]what they have got to do with the sunshine? That is a most insignificant thing for them, sunshine.
[25:13]Similarly, those who are advanced in spiritual life, they are interested in the person,
[25:26]purusam, Vasudeva. Purusam. That realization takes place, as it is stated in the Bhagavad-gita,
[25:36]after many, many births. Bahunam janmanam ante: [Bg. 7.19] at the end of many, many births.
[25:46]These impersonalists who are very much attached to the Brahman effulgence,
[25:54]such persons, they are called jnanis. They are trying to understand the
[26:01]Absolute Truth by dint of their knowledge, but they do not know that their knowledge is very imperfect
[26:09]and limited. And Krsna, the Absolute Truth, is unlimited.
[26:15]You cannot approach the unlimited by your limited knowledge.
[26:21]That is not possible. So, by the grace of devotees like Kuntidevi, we can understand that here is Vasudeva.
[26:36]The all-pervading Absolute Truth, Paramatma, Vasudeva, is here. Krsnaya vasudevaya.
[26:45]So this vasudeva realization is possible by the impersonalists after many, many births. Not very easily.
[26:58]bahunam janmanam ante jnanavan mam prapadyate
[27:03]vasudevah sarvam iti sa mahatma sudurlabhah [Bg. 7.19]
[27:09]Sudurlabhah, “very rare,” mahatma, “broad-minded.” But one who cannot understand Krsna,
[27:20]they are cripple-minded. They are not broad-minded.
[27:24]If one becomes broad-minded, then, by the grace of Krsna, he can understand Krsna.
[28:05]Sevonmukhe hi jihvadau. The process is sevonmukha, service. Service, beginning with the tongue,
[28:05]vasudeva realization is possible. The service, the first service is sravanam kirtanam…
[27:54]…opulence, six kinds of opulence
[27:58]Why you are traveling, why you are rotting in this material world?“
[28:04]This is the greatest service, Krsna consciousness. But maya is very strong.
[28:10]Still, it is the duty of every krsna-bhakta to try to enlighten everyone to Krsna consciousness.
[28:23]Just like Kuntidevi is pointing out. First of all she said, alaksyam sarva-bhutanam antar bahir avasthi…
[28:34]Although Krsna, the Supreme Person, is without and within, still, to the rascals and fools, He is invisible.
[28:44]Therefore she is pointing out: “Here is the Lord, krsnaya vasudevaya.” He is the all-pervading Supreme
[28:56]Personality of Godhead, but He’s very much pleased to become the son of Devaki.
[29:06]Devaki-nandanaya. Devaki-nandanaya is mentioned in Atharva-Veda also.
[29:15]Krsna comes as Devaki-nandana, and His foster father is Nanda-gopa, Nanda Maharaja.
[29:27]So Krsna likes to be related with His devotee as father and mother. Here, in this material world,
[29:38]we try to make our relationship with the Supreme as father, but Krsna wants to become the son.
[29:48]Therefore nanda-gopa-kumaraya. He takes pleasure to become a devotee’s son.
[29:57]Ordinary men, they want God as father, but that is not very pleasing to Krsna. Father means…
[30:07]To become father means always botheration: “Give me this, give me this, give me this.”
[30:11]You see. Of course, Krsna has got immense potencies to supply. Eko yo bahunam vidadhati kaman.
[30:22]He can supply everyone as much he wants. He’s supplying food to the elephant.
[30:30]He’s supplying food to the ant. Why not to the human being? But these rascals, they do not know.
[30:39]They’re working day and night like ass to find out bread. And if he goes to church, there also: “Give me bread.”
[30:48]They are only bread problem. That’s all. Although the living entity is the son of the richest opulent person,
[31:00]but he has created his bread problem. This is called ignorance. He thinks that “If I do not solve my bread problem,
[31:11]if I do not drive my trucks day and night…“Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh,
[31:22]whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh. whoosh. Such a nonsense civilization.
[31:26]You see. Bread problem. Where is bread problem? Krsna can supply.
[31:32]If He can supply food to the elephant in Africa…
[31:37]There are millions and millions of African elephants, you know, and they are supplied food.
[31:44]The Bhagavata says don’t waste your time for this bread problem. Don’t waste your time.
[31:52]Tasyaiva hetoh prayateta kovido na labhyate yad bhramatam upary adhah.
[31:58]Don’t waste your time how to solve your economic problems.
[32:04]This is nonsense. Of course, it is very revolutionary. People will hate me. “What Swamiji’s speaking?”
[32:12]But actually this is the fact. This is another madness. Suppose you have got your rich father, enough food.
[32:23]Where is your economic problem? This is madness. There is no economic problem.
[32:29]If you are, if you know that “My father is the richest man of the city,” then where is my economic problem?
[32:38]Actually, that is the position. We have no economic problem. Everything is there, complete.
[32:45]Purnam adah purnam idam purnat purnam udacyate [Isopanisad, Invocation].
[32:51]Everything is complete there. You want water. Just see: there are oceans of water.
[32:59]You want purified water. You cannot. Although the ocean water’s so much,
[33:07]when there is scarcity of water, you have take help of Krsna.
[33:10]He’ll evaporate the water, He’ll make it cloud. Then when it falls down, then it becomes sweet.
[33:18]Otherwise you cannot touch. Everything under control.
[33:22]Everything is full-water, light, heat. Everything is complete.
[33:29]Purnat purnam udacyate, purnasya purnam adaya purnam evavasisyate.
[33:37]His stock is never finished.
[33:40]Simply you become obedient and the supply is there. You can understand.
[33:49]These Krsna consciousness persons, they have no problem, economic problem.
[33:55]Everything is sufficiently supplied by Krsna. In Los Angeles, the neighbors, they are very envious,
[34:04]that “You do not work. You have no anxiety. You have got four cars. You are eating so nicely.
[34:12]How is that?” They inquire from our devotees. That is the actually the fact.
[34:18]We are spending so much money, we have got so many centers.
[34:23]The calculation is about $70,000 we are spending.
[34:28]Who is supplying? Somehow or other, we are getting. So there is no problem.
[34:34]You simply become sincere servant of Krsna. Everything is there. This is the test.
[34:43]They are envious of us that we do not work. Still, we have got so much.
[34:50]“So why don’t you come and join us?”
[34:52]That they will not do. “You come with us, chant Hare Krsna.” “No, no, no. That I cannot do.”
[35:01]All right, then work with your trucks: whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh.
[35:06]They have made their own position dangerous and others’ position also. They say…
[35:13]At any moment, there may be accident. This is the civilization. Nonsense. This is not civilization.
[35:18]Civilization means calmness, peace, prosperity, santi.
[35:26]In peace and prosperity one should be Krsna conscious always.
[35:32]Tasyaiva hetoh prayateta kovido na labhyate yad bhramatam upary adhah. In the animal life,
[35:41]or other than human life, we had worked so much only for morsel of food, day and night, working.
[35:50]But still the food is there. Simply avidya-karma-samjnanya trtiya saktir isyate. Avidya.
[36:02]This material world is full of ignorance. So therefore our endeavor should be how to
[36:11]come out of this ignorance. Tasyaiva hetoh. For that reason, we should work only.
[36:17]How to come out of this ignorance, that “I am this material body.
[36:22]I have to work day and night, and then I shall get my food, and I shall live.” This is ignorance.
[36:31]Tasyaiva hetoh pra… So this ignorance, this life of ignorance we have passed in the,
[36:42]I mean to say, the forms other than the human being.
[36:52]Animal life, bird’s life, beast’s life. Now this life should be peaceful, calm and quiet.
[36:59]And jivasya tattva-jijnasa, simply for inquiring about the Absolute Truth. That should be the business.
[37:14]Simply. Jivasya tattva-jijnasa. Athato brahma jijnasa. Simply sit down. Just like we are sit down.
[37:19]We are sitting down and inquiring about Krsna. This is life. And what is this life?
[37:26]Working day and night like the ass? No. That is not life. Therefore Bhagavata says your life
[37:36]should be engaged for this purpose: tasyaiva hetoh prayateta kovidah. Kovida means intelligent.
[37:41]Then: “How my economic problem will be solved?”
[37:46]The answer is: tal labhyate duhkhavad anyatah sukham. You are after happiness.
[37:57]Are you after distress? “No, sir.” Why distress comes upon you?
[38:02]You are not anxious for distress, calamities.
[38:05]Why do they come upon you? Similarly, so far your happiness is also concerned,
[38:10]that will also come upon you.
[38:13]Because your life, according to your karma, is mixed up with some portion of happiness,
[38:18]some portion of distress. If the distress comes without any invitation,
[38:24]the happiness also will come without invitation.
[38:32]Without any invitation. Because you are destined already that so much happiness,
[38:35]so much distress you will have. Destined. So you cannot change it.
[38:37]Try to change your lord, this material condition of life. That is your only business.
[38:45]Tasyaiva hetoh prayateta kovido na labhyate yad bhramatam upary adhah…
[38:51]Bhramatam upary adhah. You have tried. bhramatam upary adh… Upari means higher planetary systems.
[38:58]Sometimes we get our birth in higher planetary system as demigods, and sometimes,
[39:03]adhah, as animals, as cats and dogs, germ of the stool. This is going on.
[39:10]This is going on according to our karma. Caitanya Mahaprabhu said:
[39:15]ei rupe brahmanda bhramite kona bhagyavan jiva.
[39:22]Only fortunate living entity gets this opportunity of association of Krsna and Krsna’s devotee.
[39:30]Then his life becomes sublime.
[39:33]ei rupe brahmanda bhramite kona bhagyavan jiva guru-krsna-krpaya paya bhakti-lata-bija
[39:41]This bhakti-lata-bija, the seed of devotional service, chanting Hare Krsna mantra.
[39:47]So Kuntidevi is pointed that “Who is the person, alaksya, invisible?” Here, Krsna. “Krsna?
[40:00]There are so many Krsnas.” Vasudevaya, the son of Vasudeva. “There are many Vasudevas.”
[40:07]No, nanda-gopa-kumaraya, nanda-gopa-kumaraya, the foster son of Maharaja Nanda.
[40:13]Three times she’s pointing: “Here is Krsna.” Krsna who officially takes His birth
[40:20]as son of Devaki and Vasudeva, but He enjoys the company of mother
[40:28]Yasoda and Nanda Maharaja-the childhood company.
[40:33]This is Krsna’s pastime. So ananda-lilamaya-vigraha. Ananda-lila, Krsna’s lila, pastimes are all jubilant.
[40:48]Ananda-lilamaya. Anandamayo ‘bhyasat. He is by nature anandamaya. Krsna,
[40:56]you’ll never find Krsna is very unhappy. Krsna is never unhappy. Krsna is always happy.
[41:04]Therefore nanda-gopa-kumaraya govindaya. He is happy, and whoever, whoever associates with Him,
[41:16]he’s also happy. Govindaya. We are after sense gratification. Go means senses.
[41:24]So if you associate with Krsna, you enjoy your senses affluently. Just like the gopis are dancing with Krsna.
[41:36]So there is no scarcity of sense gratification also. But that is not this sense gra…, gross sense gratification.
[41:43]That is spiritual sense. That is spiritual sense. Ananda-cinmaya-sad-ujjvala-vigrahasya [Bs 5.32].
[41:51]We chant every day. That sense, you get, sense gratification is ananda-cinmaya,
[41:58]cinmaya, in the spiritual world.
[42:01]Not this third-class ananda with these bodily senses. This is not ananda. This is an illusion.
[42:13]This is illusion. We are thinking that “I’m enjoying,” but that is not ananda. This ananda is not fact,
[42:21]because we cannot enjoy this material sense pleasure for long. Everyone has got experience.
[42:29]It is finished. It is finished. But spiritual enjoyment does not finish. It increases. That is the difference.
[42:37]Ananda-cinmaya-sad-ujjvala-vigrahasya govindam adi-purusam [Bs 5.32].
[42:44]So you have to associate with Govinda. Here is, also, it is said, govindaya namo namah:
[42:50]“I offer my respectful obeisances to Govinda.” So this Krsna consciousness movement is so nice-
[42:58]you become directly in contact with Govinda. This Deity worship is also directly in contact with Govinda.
[43:14]This vigraha, the Deity of Krsna, that is also Krsna’s mercy. Because Krsna is alaksya, invisible,
[43:26]He has become visible for your facility, as you can see. Still…
[43:35]It is not that Krsna is stone or Krsna is wood or Krsna is metal.
[43:40]Krsna is always Krsna. But He appears… Because you cannot see except wood, stone and metal,
[43:50]He appears like that, wood, stone or metal. But He’s not wood, stone or metal.
[43:55]You’ll get the same facility as Krsna personally if you associate, when you associate.
[44:04]You will associate with Krsna. But at the present moment, because Krsna is invisible,
[44:11]therefore He has very kindly taken a form which is visible by you. This is Krsna’s mercy.
[44:21]Do not think, “Oh, here is Krsna, stone Krsna.” Krsna is everything. Krsna is everything.
[44:29]So Krsna is stone also, but He’s not that stone that cannot act. Krsna can act also in the stone form also.
[44:43]Krsna act also in metal form also. And you will perceive that. Svayam eva sphuraty adah.
[44:52]The so-called stone also speaks with you. There are many instances like that.
[45:00]So we should take to this Krsna consciousness movement according to the sastra. Sri…
[45:08]I am very pleased that you are doing nicely, dressing the Deity very nicely. More and more,
[45:17]in this way offer Krsna nice prasadam, nice foodstuff, nice dress. Keep the temple very clean.
[45:27]Sri-mandira-marjanadisu. Marjana means cleansing. Either you dress Krsna or cleanse the temple,
[45:40]the effect is the same. Don’t think that “I am a cleanser and he is a dresser.” No.
[45:43]The dresser and the cleanser are the same. Krsna is Absolute. In any way, be engaged in Krsna’s service.
[45:51]Your life will be successful. This is Krsna consciousness movement.
[45:56]So by the grace of Kuntidevi we can understand that Krsna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead,
[46:05]Vasudeva. Vasudeva… Another meaning of vasudeva is that when you come to the platform of vasudeva.
[46:16]Sattvam visuddham vasudeva-sabditam. Sattvam. Sattva, goodness.
[46:24]First of all, we have to come to the platform of goodness.
[46:30]But here, in the material world, the goodness is also sometimes contaminated by other low qualities,
[46:36] ignorance and passion.
[46:38]So by hearing about Krsna, srnvatam sva-kathah krsnah punya-sravana-kirtanah.. [Bhag. 1.2.17].
[46:51]Just like you are hearing about Krsna. Similarly, try to hear about Krsna always,
[46:58]twenty-four hours chant about Krsna. In this way, the dirty things will be cleansed.
[47:07]Nasta-prayesv abhadresu nityam bhagavata-sevaya [Bhag. 1.2.18].
[47:15]Nityam means always. Not that bhagavata-saptaha, official. No, not like that.
[47:22]That is another exploitation. In the Bhagavata it is said, nityam bhagavata-sevaya.
[47:29]Nityam means daily, twenty-four hours. Either you read Srimad-Bhagavatam or
[47:35]carry out the order of your spiritual master. This is also order. Bhagavata is spiritual master.
[47:45]Vaisnava, he’s also bhagavata. Acaryas, bhagavata. Grantha-bhagavata and person,
[47:51]person bhagavata. So person bhagavata or book bhagavata, you always serve.
[48:00]Nityam bhagavata-sevaya [Bhag. 1.2.18].
[48:03]Bhagavaty uttama-sloke bhaktir bhavati naisthiki. Then you will be fixed up. Naisthiki.
[48:12]Nobody can move you. Bhagavaty uttama-sloke, unto the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
[48:19]So in this way, Krsna consciousness movement should be realized by you
[48:27]by the process prescribed and try to give to the people.
[48:32]This is the greatest welfare activities in the world, to awaken Krsna consciousness,
[48:40]the dormant Krsna consciousness. It is, of course, practically, you can see, four or five years ago,
[48:47]none of you were in Krsna consciousness, but it has been awakened. Now you are Krsna conscious.
[48:54]So others can be awakened also. There is no difficulty. The process is the same.
[48:59]So by following the footprints of devotees like Kunti, we shall be able to understand as she’s pointing out:
[49:08]krsnaya vasudevaya devaki-nandanaya ca, nanda-gopa-kumaraya.
[49:15]This is Krsna’s identification. Just like we take identification of a person: “What is your father’s name?”
[49:24]So here we’re giving, presenting God with His father’s name, with His mother’s name, with His address.
[49:36]We are not impersonalists, vague idea. No. Everything complete. Perfect. The identification.
[49:42]If you take advantage of this propagation of Krsna consciousness, then you are certainly benefited.
