**[1966: Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 20.137](spoken/1966/661206cc.ny.md)**
> The very good example is given, *āpūryamāṇam acala-pratiṣṭha*. Just like the ocean, Atlantic Ocean. In the... During summer season, rainy season, millions of tons water is evaporated by the sun to make..., to create cloud, but if you see the Atlantic Ocean, it is the same. Similarly, after rainy season, millions of tons of water are poured into the ocean by overflow of rivers, but still, you see the ocean is the same. In the material world, if you can find out such things that an ordinary ocean... I say "ordinary" because there are millions of oceans floating in the air. Therefore we should not be very much astonished to see the Atlantic Ocean. Within this space, even within this material space, you have got millions and trillions of ocean like Atlantic. Just like a drop of water or less than that, an atomic portion of water, they are floating in the air. So that is the potency of God.
> So practically every process is condemned herewith by the Supreme Lord, condemned in this sense, that they can approach to a certain degree, certain extent, towards the final goal. But that process will never be able to achieve to the final goal unless this devotional process is added there. Plus this must be, the devotion, this Kṛṣṇa consciousness, because ultimate end is Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Lord. As we have several times discussed that verse from the *Bhagavad-gītā, bahūnāṁ janmanām ante jñānavān māṁ prapadyante* : "After many, many births, those who are actually intellectual, they come to Me and surrender to God, that 'Here is...' *Vāsudevaḥ sarvam iti:* 'God is everything.' Then he surrenders."
---
**[1968: Bhagavad-gītā 2.26](spoken/1968/681206bg.la)**
> These less intelligent class of men, they are searching after the Absolute Truth. That is also creditable. They are searching. But they have not come to the right point. The right point is here, as Kṛṣṇa says, that "After many, many births of research work, when he actually becomes a wise man, he surrenders unto Me," *vāsudevaḥ sarvam iti*, that "Vāsudeva, Kṛṣṇa, is everything." That is stated in the *Bhagavad-gītā.*
> Considering himself that "I am material product." I am coming to this point. Those who are thinking that "I am a material product," they're completely in darkness of *māyā. Yayā, manute anarthaṁ tat-kṛtaṁ ca abhipadyate.* And identifying himself with this body, they are acting in bodily consciousness and increasing their problems of life and conditional life in material existence. Horrible condition. Therefore Vyāsadeva says, *anarthopaśamaṁ sākṣād bhakti-yogam adhokṣaje*. Anartha,* this *anartha,* this misconception of life, if you want to discard this misconception of life, that "I am this body," and you act according to that consciousness and suffer... This is your disease.

**[1971: Room Conversation](spoken/1971/711206r1.del)**
> Degrees of knowledge, standard of knowledge, just like animals knowledge, dogs knowledge and your knowledge that is different. So your knowledge and the scientists knowledge that is different. That does not mean because one is advanced little than your knowledge he has become God. That is not, or he can show some magic therefore he has[indistinct]. Nobody can show better magic than God. This is Kṛṣṇa says:
> [break]. This knowledge you can take from any conversation. [indistinct] all our senses are imperfect. The *yogī*can be able to know at once but your senses. It is not possible. It's an awkward condition, just like a pilot his knowledge is little more than you. He knows how to fly in the sky but that does not mean he has become perfect.
---
**[1972: Bhagavad-gītā 2.1](spoken/1972/721206bg.ahm)**
> Therefore, when in the Vedic literature or in authorized statement we find "*nirākāra,*" that means His form does not belong to this *asat, acit* or *nirānanda.* But He has His form. *Divyam. Janma karma me divyam*. Divyam,* transcendental. And Śrīpāda Śaṅkarācārya also, who especially preached impersonalism, he also admits that *nārāyaṇaḥ paraḥ avyaktāt:* "Nārāyaṇa, the form of Nārāyaṇa, is beyond the range of this *avyakta.*" *Avyakta* and... This world is creation... *Avyaktād aṇḍa-sambhavaḥ.* This world is creation of this *avyakta.* And beyond this *avyakta,* there is another nature. That is spiritual nature. That is explained in the *Bhagavad-gītā: paras tasmāt tu bhāvaḥ anyaḥ avyaktaḥ avyaktāt sanātanaḥ*.
> But another thing is the *dharma-kṣetra,* effect of *dharma-kṣetra,* was visible in Arjuna. *Dharma-kṣetra.* He, because he's devotee of Kṛṣṇa... *Yasyāsti bhaktir bhagavaty akiñcanā sarvair guṇais tatra samāsate surāḥ*.* Because he's devotee of Kṛṣṇa, therefore he felt: "What is this? Why shall I kill these, my brothers?" Because he was devotee. This sentiment came into the mind of Arjuna, not on the other side, Duryodhana. He never thought—although they were placed, both of them placed at *dharma-kṣetra.* The effect of *dharma-kṣetra* was manifest in the body of Arjuna, not Duryodhana.

**[1973: Morning Walk](spoken/1973/731206mw.la)**
> So our Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement, we are not speculating. We are accepting God the authority, and He's speaking about Himself. We are accepting. That is our position. Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa says, *mattaḥ parataraṁ āsti* : "There is no more superior authority than Me." We accept it. Kṛṣṇa says, *man-manā bhava mad-bhaktaḥ* : "You always think of Me. Become my devotee," we become. This is Kṛṣṇa consciousness. We are imperfect, but we accept the perfect; therefore we are perfect. We are imperfect. We don't say that we are God, or perfect. We are imperfect. But we accept the perfect version of the perfect; therefore we are perfect.
> Everything is complete, perfect, and because you are perfect, you have got the independence. But misusing that independence, you are imperfect. Again, reviving your independence, you can become perfect, although you are imperfect now. That is Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement means raising the imperfect to the perfect platform. That is Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Other fools, they say, "We are perfect now." In a fallen condition also, they're thinking perfect. That is *māyā. Āsurīṁ rākṣasīṁ caiva mohinīṁ prakṛtiṁ śritāḥ*. Kṛṣṇa has made you perfect. There is no doubt about it. Just like some of our student, all of a sudden, they deviate, go away. So what is that? Our movement is imperfect, or he's imperfect?
---
**[1973: Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 1.15.28](spoken/1973/731206sb.la)**
> So Arjuna was disturbed in so many ways, but as soon as he began to think of Kṛṣṇa's lotus feet, *saroruha, kṛṣṇa-pāda saroruha,* immediately everything became pacified. This is the process. This is transcendental consciousness or transcendental meditation. Immediately, without any delay for a moment you'll feel completely pacified. Therefore Kṛṣṇa advises, *man-manā bhava mad-bhakto mad-yājī māṁ namaskuru* : "Always...," *man-manāḥ,* "always engage your mind upon Me."
> They are so-called scientists, intelligence. What is that intelligence? Discover atomic bomb. What is the effect? To kill. But they are dying, what is the credit for you? They're already dying, naturally dying, dying out of want for food, dying in famine, in pestilence. Then what you have discovered? This is called intelligence. This intelligence is described in the *Bhagavad-gītā, māyayāpahṛta-jñānāḥ*. They are advertising themselves as intelligent, but real intelligence is taken away. Real intelligence is that we are advancing in science, in education, in motorcars and..., motorcars, everything, but where is our peace? Where is *śānti*? That is intelligence.
---
**[1974: Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 3.25.37](spoken/1974/741206sb.bom)**
> Therefore they are aspiring after going to the higher planetary system. *Karma-kāṇḍīya.* They perform *yajñas* and pious activities to go to the heavenly planets. Oh, what is the idea? The idea is that we shall be able to enjoy more, more, more duration of life, more opulence, more money, more beautiful woman, more nice garden. Actually, that is a fact. That is a fact. But a devotee is not interested in all these things. A devotee is not interested because he accepts Kṛṣṇa. Therefore he is not interested. Kṛṣṇa says, *ābrahma-bhuvanāl lokāḥ punar āvartino 'rjuna* : "My dear Arjuna, even if you are promoted to the Brahmaloka, or the planet where Brahmā lives, where the duration of life already I have explained, and opulence, and very, very great powerful, but still you have to fall down from there."
> So that is the devotional position. Therefore it is said, *atho vibhūtiṁ mama māyāvinas tām aiśvaryam aṣṭāṅgam anupravṛttam, śriyaṁ bhāgavatīṁ vāspṛhayanti bhadrām.* The devotees do not aspire for all these opulences. Their only aspiration is, ambition is, how to be engaged in the service of the Lord. How to be engaged. That is their... And in that way they get everything. There is no difference. When you worship Kṛṣṇa—*man-manā bhava mad-bhakto mad-yājī māṁ namaskuru*, mām evaiṣyasi*—so he has already gone. There is no difference, the worshiping of the Lord here and there. Just like in politics sometime—these are some of the examples—that in a foreign country, when you are staying in your ship, then you are not subjected to the rules of that country; you are subjected to the rules of your own country. Similarly, so long you are in devotional service, you are not subjected to the rules and regulation of this *māyā. Māyām etāṁ taranti te*. Māyām etām... Mām eva ye prapadyante māyām etāṁ taranti te.* Anyone who is not devotee, who is not engaged in the service of the Lord, he is under the control of *māyā.* And anyone who has surrendered to Kṛṣṇa and is simply twenty-four hours engaged in the service of Kṛṣṇa, he is not under the control of *māyā. Māyām etāṁ taranti te.* Kṛṣṇa says.

**[1975: Sannyāsa Initiation Lecture](spoken/1975/751206le.vrn)**
> This one verse He explained in sixty-four ways. Just see His learning. Not only that, when He was sixteen years old only, there was a great *paṇḍita* came to Navadvīpa. His name was Keśava Kāśmīrī. He conquered over all parts of the country..., India at least, because there was no possibility to go outside India. But He defeated him in one *śloka* when He was a boy. So He was not a fool, rascal. That is not the fact. But He represented Himself as a fool because *we* are fools. In this age we are all fools and rascals. What we shall read *Vedānta* and understand *Vedānta*? We have got practical experience how the so-called Vedāntists go to foreign countries and mislead them, and they learn how to eat meat and wine. This is their *Vedānta* knowledge. So Caitanya Mahāprabhu knew it very well that all the rascals, they will call them *vedānti* and do all nonsense. So don't become falsely a *vedānti.* Real *vedānti* means *vedaiś ca sarvair aham eva vedyam*. If you simply know Kṛṣṇa and surrender unto Him, then you become a *vedānti,* real *vedānti. Vedaiś ca sarvair aham eva vedyaḥ*. So always keep... This kind of duty was entrusted by Caitanya Mahāprabhu to the Indians.
> This is Caitanya Mahāprabhu's mission, that every Indian should learn what is this Kṛṣṇa consciousness and preach it all over the world. That is His order. But our Indians are not taking care of it. Therefore it doesn't matter, Indian or European or American, who will carry the order of Caitanya Mahāprabhu, he will be benefited, he will be glorified. So don't be hesitating, because the soul is neither Indian or American. *Ahaṁ brahmāsmi.* Every one of us, we are part and parcel of Kṛṣṇa, and our position is Brahman. *Brahma-bhūtaḥ prasannātmā*. So from that platform you go on preaching Kṛṣṇa consciousness. By executing the order of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu you'll be glorified, the country will be glorified, the whole world will benefit.
