**Pradyumna:** [reading] "The basic principle of the living condition is that we have a general propensity to love someone. No one can live without loving someone else. This propensity is present in every living being. Even an animal like a tiger has this loving propensity, at least in a dormant stage, and it is certainly present in the human beings. The missing point, however, is where to repose our love so that everyone can become happy.
"At the present moment, the human society teaches one to love his country or family or his personal self, but there is no information where to repose the loving propensity so that everyone can become happy. That missing point is Kṛṣṇa, and *The* *Nectar of Devotion* teaches us how to stimulate our original love for Kṛṣṇa and how to be situated in that position where we can enjoy our blissful life.
"In the primary stage, a child loves his parents, then his brothers and sisters, and as he daily grows up, he begins to love his family, society, community, country, nation, or even the whole human society. But the loving propensity is not satisfied even by loving all human society. That loving propensity remains imperfectly fulfilled until we know who is the Supreme Beloved. Our love can be fully satisfied only when it is reposed in Kṛṣṇa. This..."

**Prabhupāda:** Now in Vṛndāvana here is one temple... There is likely that they cannot [indistinct for several minutes]. Suppose everything is in our hand[?]. How to manage? Therefore accepting the main temple, you have to [indistinct] how to manage. This is between ourself. Suppose if Bharatpur Mahārāja after some time [indistinct]. In this temple also, I am making the important decisions. [break] ...is not in favor of any of the parties. So if they also come in our hands, it has to be [indistinct].
Now, supposing you have got three, then how you to manage? Simply taking over is no good. Because they are giving, means they cannot manage. That property is very valuable property, Bharatpur place. So they are thinking of giving it over to us because it is not being managed. Their position is here. So up to now we are strong. But if our, what is called, cooperation becomes slack, then our temple also the same thing will be.
That, the [indistinct], that I am staying here for the last ten or twelve years and paying, but the property belongs to the Deity. And there are several sevaites. Sometimes somebody starts noting that you neglect; sometimes somebody takes money in other. So what is my position? [indistinct] the renter may decide what is my position. Actually, in terms of the renter, I am tenant for these two rooms, and that also. [indistinct]

**Pradyumna:** ...*vāsudevāya. Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* [leads chanting of verse] [**Prabhupāda and **devotees repeat]
*ataḥ*—so; *pumbhiḥ*—by the human being; *dvija-śreṣṭhāḥ*—O best among the twice-born; *varṇa-āśrama*—the institution of four castes and orders of life; *vibhāgaśaḥ*—by the division of; *svanuṣṭhitasya*—of one's own prescribed duties; *dharmasya*—occupational; *saṁsiddhiḥ*—the highest perfection; *hari*—the Personality of Godhead; *toṣaṇam*—pleasing.

**Pradyumna:** *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* [devotees repeat] [leads chanting of verse, etc.]
**Translation:** "Sūta Gosvāmī said: The Lord, thus hearing the prayers of Kuntīdevī, composed in choice words for His glorification, mildly smiled. That smile was as enchanting as His mystic power."

**[[spoken/761024sb.vrn|SB 5.5.2 — October 24, 1976, Vṛndāvana]]**
**Translation:** "One can attain the path of liberation from material bondage only by rendering service to highly advanced spiritual personalities. These personalities are impersonalists and devotees. Whether one wants to merge into the Lord's existence or wants to associate with the Personality of Godhead, one should render service to the *mahātmās.* For those who are not interested in such activities, who associate with people fond of women and sex, the path to hell is wide open. The *mahātmās* are equipoised. They do not see any difference between one living entity and another. They are very peaceful and are fully engaged in devotional service. They are devoid of anger, and they work for the benefit of everyone. They do not behave in any abominable way. Such people are known as *mahātmās.*" [break]
**Prabhupāda:** > mahat-sevāṁ dvāram āhur vimuktes > tamo-dvāraṁ yoṣitāṁ saṅgi-saṅgam > mahāntas te sama-cittāḥ praśāntā > vimanyavaḥ suhṛdaḥ sādhavo ye > [[sb/5/5/2|[SB. 5.5.2] ]]
So in the previous verse it was recommended, *tapo:* "Don't live the life of cats and dogs." This is the advice. But be *tapasvī. Tapasyā.* Human life is meant for *tapasya,* and *tapasya* means beginning *tapasya brahmacaryeṇa* [[sb/6/1/13|[SB. 6.1.13] ]]. This is *tapasya. Tapasyā* begins with *brahmacarya,* celibacy. No sex life. That is *tapasya.*

**Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:** They spoke with Mr. Bangur, B. N. Bangur. He didn't know anybody. He spoke with Mr. Bajoria. He also did not know anybody. They had not yet spoken with Mr. Jalan. Our feeling was that to bring a *kavirāja,* Rāmānuja *kavirāja,* is not difficult from wherever we are—whether we're here or anywhere. There are many *kavirājas.* Whether we have to get a local one or whether we have to go somewhere to bring one, they can be brought. Our one consideration was...
[break] Just like this morning, it's getting cold in the morning, and we felt that, for example, during this..., in this summer, during the rainy season it rained very much—more than usual. So the climate is not completely predictable in this Kali-yuga. So it's getting very cold in the mornings. Now, if suddenly it gets much colder, to travel on the train would be very difficult, because these trains are hard. You can't keep them warm. They don't have heat in them. So we don't feel it's very safe to wait unduly. Our opinion was that so far as your health or strength goes, it's not going to increase significantly in one or two weeks. Even when you take this *makara-dhvaja,* it will take time to gradually get back your strength. So waiting is not so much for the purpose of gaining back strength. And the weather is..., the climate is working against us, because it's getting colder if we wait. One of the main reasons to go that Your Divine Grace had was to get into a nice climate, fresh air, open-air atmosphere. So our feeling is that as far as a *kavirāja* goes, now we must find a Rāmānuja *kavirāja*. Now, if we cannot find one in Calcutta, then our feeling is let us find one somewhere else and bring him to Māyāpur. In other words, it doesn't have to be that he's living in Calcutta. *Kavirājas* are all over India. There is one... Who is that person, Bhavānanda?
**Bhavānanda:** The head *pūjārī* at Śrī Raṅgam temple in South India. He is coming in the family of Gopāla Bhaṭṭa Gosvāmī. He is very friendly with our Society, and Acyutānanda and Yaśodānandana Swamis, they stayed with him at his house...
