Similarly, although this *māyā,* material world, is coming from Kṛṣṇa... *Mattaḥ sarvaṁ pravartate* [[bg/10/8|[Bg. 10.8] ]], Kṛṣṇa says. *Ahaṁ sarvasya prabhavo, mattaḥ sarvaṁ pravartate*. S*arvaṁ pravartate* means *māyā* is also coming from Kṛṣṇa. That is a fact. The same example: smoke is coming from fire, but we require fire, not the smoke. This is required. We don't require the *māyā's* internal energy which disturbs seeing Kṛṣṇa. There are so many examples: Just like cloud. Cloud is the production of the sun, sunshine. When the sunshine is very strong it evaporates water from the sea, and the air is evaporating from the cloud. That is scientific observation and experiment. But by the cloud, the sun is covered. [break] We cannot see the sun. Similarly, this *māyā* is creation of God, *mama māyā*, Kṛṣṇa says. *Daivī hy eṣā guṇa-mayī mama māyā. B*ut this *māyā* covers the living entity so that the living entity forgets his eternal relationship with Kṛṣṇa. *Mama māyā duratyayā.* --- **[[spoken/721022sb.vrn|SB 1.2.11 — October 22, 1972, Vṛndāvana]]** *[break] ...brahma iti*—known as Brahman; *paramātmā iti*—known as Paramātmā; *bhagavān iti*—known as Bhagavān; *śabdyate*—it so sounded. **Translation:** "Learned transcendentalists who know the Absolute Truth call this nondual substance Brahman, Paramātmā or Bhagavān." --- **[[spoken/731022bg.bom|Bg 13.23 — October 22, 1973, Bombay]]** **Translation:** "Yet in this body there is another, a transcendental enjoyer, who is the Lord, the supreme proprietor, who exists as the overseer and permitter, and who is known as the Supersoul." **Prabhupāda:** Hm. So there are two *puruṣas.* One *puruṣa* is already explained. *Puruṣaḥ prakṛti-stho hi...* --- **[[spoken/741022sb.may|SB 1.8.42 — October 22, 1974, Māyāpur]]** **Pradyumna:** *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* [devotees repeat] [leads chanting of verse, etc.] [break] "O Lord of Madhu, as the Ganges forever flows to the sea without hindrance, let my attraction be constantly drawn unto You, without being diverted to anyone else." --- **[[spoken/751022sb.joh|SB 5.5.2 — October 22, 1975, Johannesburg]]** **Prabhupāda:** > mahat-sevāṁ dvāram āhur vimuktes > tamo dvāraṁ yoṣitāṁ saṅgi-saṅgam > mahāntas te sama-cittāḥ praśāntā > vimanyavaḥ suhṛdaḥ sādhavo ye > [[sb/5/5/2|[SB. 5.5.2] ]] In continuation of the last verse I recited day before yesterday, the second verse is suggesting how one can be liberated from this material bondage. In the first verse it was suggested that this human form of life is not meant for wasting uselessly like the animals, dogs and hogs. It should be properly utilized. The suggestion was *tapa, tapasya. Tapasyā* means austerity, voluntarily accepting some inconvenience. This is called *tapasya. Tapa,* one meaning is "disturbances." Suppose I am practiced to some habit. If I am advised to give it up, it becomes little troublesome. For example, if I am habituated to smoke and somebody or higher authority says, "Don't smoke," to give up smoking is little difficult, those who are habituated to smoke. Similarly... But according to the doctor's advice if somebody has to give up smoking, he has to. Otherwise his disease may not be cured. Similarly, our this present position, *tapo divyaṁ putrakā yena śuddhyet sattvam* [[sb/5/5/1|[SB. 5.5.1] ]], we are constantly, repeatedly changing body, transmigration of the soul. *Tathā dehāntara-prāptiḥ* [[bg/2/13|[Bg. 2.13] ]]. --- **[[spoken/761022sb.vrn|SB 5.5.1 — October 22, 1976, Vṛndāvana]]** Translation: "Lord Ṛṣabhadeva told His sons: My dear boys, of all the living entities who have accepted material bodies in this world, one who has been awarded this human form should not work hard day and night simply for sense gratification, which is available even for dogs and hogs that eat stool. One should engage in penance and austerity to attain the divine position of devotional service. By such activity, one's heart is purified, and when one attains this position, he attains eternal, blissful life, which is transcendental to material happiness and which continues forever." *[[sb/5/5/1|[SB. 5.5.1] ]] [break] **Prabhupāda:** The fifty percent of Western..., in Western cities, there will be ground subways. In subways, train is going on at fifty-mile speed, and working accordingly. Aim..., aim is, "I shall get some money, then I shall drink, I shall eat meat, and then I shall have sex." This is going on Not that... Nobody would say that "I am making money for spiritual salvation or for worshiping Deity in the temple or giving in charity to the Vaiṣṇava." Nobody will say. They will say, "I am working so hard for eating all nasty things." No discrimination—"Anything you bring, I will eat: meat, eggs, rum..." I cannot say—I have not been in their home—but I have seen in the aeroplane they are eating the intestines of the hog. Yes. *Nānā yoni bhramaṇa kare kadarya bhakṣaṇa kare'*. That is stated by Narottama dāsa Ṭhākura, that these people, fools... --- **[[spoken/771022r1.vrn|Room Conversation — October 22, 1977, Vṛndāvana]]** **Dr. Gopal:** [Transl. You ask him] ...however, it will not interfere with my medicine. You understand? **Bhakti-cāru:** [Transl. No. This is not *moti-vṛṣṭi.*] This is *makara-dhvaja.* There are three different ingredients of *makara-dhvaja.* **Dr. Gopal:** I don't know about that. But we can ask Vaidyaji what is the dose and which one is better, whether *moti-dṛṣṭi* or this. *Moti-dṛṣṭi is usually given...* [Transl. The same dress, the same tendencies, the same color. Every individual has got differences. So with all the differences He manifested, not only individual person, but character, nature, dress, likes. **Pradyumna:** This is a big, long verse. Mystified, he could not understand what is this, and he could not even see anything and then, er, so Kṛṣṇa saw this and then He removed that *yoga-māyā* covering. In the beginning...
