**Dr. Kapoor:** ...here at Rādhā-Dāmodara, after his long tour of the world, in which he broadcast the message of Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya Mahāprabhu in the different *karmas,* to the different nationalities of the world. This return back to homeland of Śrīla Prabhupāda is particularly significant, because this time he comes back with a host of his Western disciples. This signifies to me the meeting of the East and the West, or at least the beginning of such a meeting. This signifies the victory of spiritualism over materialism, of good over evil.
This is really a rare moment in history, for, for the first time in the history of the world, for the first time at least in living memory, Vaiṣṇavism, the message of Vaiṣṇavism, the message of Mahāprabhu, the message of devotion and of pure devotion has been carried to the West and carried so successfully. I am sure that historians of the future will have a lot to say about Prabhupāda and his movement, and they will be even envious of us for living in a time when this movement was begun and for participating in it.
I have a secret realization that at this moment, while we are welcoming Prabhupāda, Śrī Rūpa Gosvāmī, Śrī Jīva Gosvāmī, Śrī Kṛṣṇadāsa Kavirāja, whose *samādhis* signify their eternal presence in the sacred precincts of this temple, are also joining us in welcoming Prabhupāda, and they are showering their choicest blessings upon him. I can hear them saying, "Long live Prabhupāda! Long live Prabhupāda!" I am sure as a result of their presence, Prabhupāda will live long for many, many more years to broadcast the message of Caitanya Mahāprabhu all the world over and to inspire us, to inspire us with a special zeal in our hearts. And I am sure as a result of their blessings he will rise always, from glory, glory.

Indian man: Not at this place. But for those whom..., for those people who are in, this is the real Gokula. [indistinct], but I think the old Gokula is that. [break]
**Prabhupāda:** Yes. This temple was constructed by Śrīla Jīva Gosvāmī, one of the first disciples of Lord Caitanya, and this is Narottama *samādhi.* Here is Kṛṣṇadāsa Kavirāja Gosvāmī entombed, and here is Rūpa Gosvāmī entombed. Later on, several other devotees, they are not entombed like them. Flowers from their body, they were placed. It is called *puṣpa-samādhi*. But here, the original bodies.
**Prabhupāda:** [Hindi with lady passers-by] This is the place for dining. The Gosvāmīs, they used to dine here, this room.

**Pradyumna:Translation:** "Nature is said to be the cause of all material activities and effects, whereas the living entity is the cause of the various sufferings and enjoyments in this world."* [[bg/13/21|[Bg. 13.21] ]]
**Prabhupāda:** This is very funny, that you get the body according to your *karma,* but the..., you are liable to enjoy or being..., or suffering according to the body. The body is given by the nature. In another place it is confirmed, *bhrāmayan sarva-bhūtāni yantrārūḍhāni māyayā* [[bg/18/61|[Bg. 18.61] ]].
The living entity... Just like we, on this Jeep car, we can move from here and there. Somebody has given you the car and for movement. Similarly, we are getting a *yantra,* a moving instrument, this body, with senses, different bodies. So I'm seated there and..., but the movement is not in my direction. That is by nature's own way. *Prakṛteḥ kriyamāṇāni.* In another place it is confirmed,

**Nitāi:** *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* [devotees repeat] [leads chanting of verse, etc.]
"[And yet others say that You appeared to] ...rejuvenate the devotional service of hearing, remembering, worshiping and so on, in order that the conditioned souls suffering from material pangs might take advantage and gain liberation."
**Prabhupāda:** > bhave 'smin kliśyamānānām > avidyā-kāma-karmabhiḥ... > > bhave 'smin kliśyamānānām > avidyā-kāma-karmabhiḥ > śravaṇa-smaraṇārhāṇi > kariṣyann iti kecana > [[sb/1/8/35|[SB. 1.8.35] ]]

**[[spoken/751015r1.joh|Conversation — October 15, 1975, Johannesburg]]**
**Prabhupāda:** Syphilis. In Āyurvedic it is called *phairanga,* means this disease is imported from Western countries. Every dog has syphilis, and they contaminate the woman, and that is distributed to man. According to Vedic civilization, dog is untouchable. Now in India also, to keep a dog is aristocracy. Yes. Especially the tail cut. Now half-cut tail, that is aristocratic dog. Now they are making dog show in New Delhi. [break]
Adjust. *Kleśada āsa* *dehaḥ* [[sb/5/5/4|[SB. 5.5.4] ]].* Material body means different ways of giving trouble. I have got one trouble. He has got one trouble. He has got another trouble. He has got another. But nobody is coming to the senses that it is troublesome. And troublesome, at the same time you'll not be allowed to continue. It has to be ended. Then another change of body, and what kind of body you are going to get, that you do not know.
**Puṣṭa Kṛṣṇa:** In the Western countries, people are taught that if there is some difficulty they should not try to accept it. They should try to change the situation.

**Prabhupāda:** [*prema-dhvani*] *jaya oṁ viṣṇu-pāda paramahaṁsa parivrājakācārya aṣṭottara-śata śrī śrīmad bhaktisiddhānta sarasvatī gosvāmī prabhupāda ki jaya. ananta-koṭi vaiṣṇava-vṛnda ki jaya. nāmācārya śrīla haridāsa ṭhākura kī jaya. premse kaho śrī-kṛṣṇa-caitanya-prabhu-nityānanda śrī-advaita gadādhara śrīvāsādi-gaura-bhakta-vṛnda kī jaya. śrī śrī rādhā-kṛṣṇa gopa-gopīnātha śyāma-kuṇḍa rādhā-kuṇḍa giri-govardhana kī jaya. samavetā-bhakta-vṛndā kī jaya.* All glories to the assembled devotees. All glories to the assembled devotees. Thank you very much. [devotees offer obeisances]
So our present position is like this, that *sammohita,* bewildered, puzzled by *māyā.* We are eternal part and parcel of God, but on account of being enchanted by this material energy, or external energy of God, we have forgotten ourself, and we are now entangled. We have forgotten our goal of life. *Na te viduḥ svārtha-gatiṁ hi viṣṇuṁ durāśayā ye bahir-artha-māninaḥ* [[sb/7/5/31|[SB. 7.5.31] ]].

**Praduymna:** Translation: "Now hear, O son of Pṛthā* [Arjuna], how by practicing yoga in full consciousness of Me, with mind attached to Me, you can know Me in full, free from doubt."
There is no God. This is the verdict of the demoniac persons. The demons declare that there is no God. There is another introduction of the demons which the Supreme Personality of Godhead Himself has said that those who are demoniac in nature, they are divided into four classes.

**Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:** So actually the *kavirāja* says that the actual cure is simply to drink liquids. In Bombay you were drinking about 600 cc's of liquid a day. It wasn't very difficult. Say, at about four or five times in a day you'd drink about a half a cup of liquid. That's all it took. It wasn't difficult, and it all came out very easily as urine. Because you had that operation performed, there's no blockage. Simply we have to sit you up four or five times, which you're doing anyway in a day, drink a little liquid, and then you can lay down. And automatically it will come out as urine. And because you have liquid, it will clean out the poisons. If you take no liquid, then it's very dangerous.
**Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:** Very good. [aside to **Hari-śauri:**] So, can I see that book? So about in a half hour we can give you some juice maybe? Grape juice? Do you like grape juice?
**Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:** No. You should drink simply like a half a cup. Is that too much? In Bombay we used to give you a full cup. But we can give you half a cup here. And you try and drink a half a cup. It's only about a 100 cc's. You do that few times in a day, four or five times, then there'll be no problem. I don't think it's very painful to drink, is it?

**Prabhupāda:**[Transl. *Where did you go?] **Viśvambhara:**[Transl. *Yes, Śrīla Prabhupāda?]*Prabhupāda:*[Transl. *Where did you go?]*Viśvambhara:*[Transl. *Me? I went home.]*Prabhupāda: Huh?Viśvambhara:*[Transl. *I went to my house. He is also here. He is taking *prasāda*.]*Prabhupāda:*[Transl. *Where?]*Viśvambhara:*[Transl. *There at the *gurukula*. He is coming after taking *prasāda*. Prabhupāda, at night he will go to his house in my cycle and in the morning he will come. As you order he will be coming three, four times a day. Now he will only give you hot fomentation in the stomach.]*Prabhupāda:* [Transl. *As you feel right.]**Viśvambhara:**[Transl. *As you feel comfortable we will do that. As you order, as you feel comfortable.]*Prabhupāda:*[Transl. *It is not a question of comfort...]*Viśvambhara:*[Transl. *Comfort means if you feel better by massage then I can tell him to give you more massage. He is totally under your instruction. He can stay here twenty-four hours a day]*Prabhupāda:**[Transl. *What does he think?] **Viśvambhara:**[Transl. *His massage is perfect. He says that for some reason either because of food or some other reason there is a tangle in the stomach. Because of this Prabhupāda is feeling uncomfortable. If somehow or other this tangle is removed then Prabhupāda should feel relief.] **Prabhupāda:**[Transl. *Will that be cured?]*Viśvambhara:* [Transl. *He was saying my inner heart says Prabhupāda will be cured. This he was telling me just now. I asked him, will he be cured by your massage and treatment? I cannot promise that, but by Rādhārānī's mercy he will be cured. He told me just now.]**Prabhupāda:**[Transl. *As you feel right.]*Viśvambhara:*[Transl. *Prabhupāda, do you feel better than yesterday? You must be feeling something. Even slightly.]*Prabhupāda:*[Transl. *Not significantly. That is the place.]*Viśvambhara:*[Transl. *Here it is. The knot is here. The knot will be untied]*Prabhupāda: Hān?Viśvambhara:**[Transl. *The knot will be removed. The knot has been sitting there, due to indigestion of food. By massage and by hot fomentation it will go away. I will make sure that it is completely cured. I will try my best. He has gone to take *prasāda*. I will bring him now.] ** *[break]*
Rama dāsa Śastri: [Transl. Maharajaji, whatever gives you relief I will do that. I will try my best to give you relief whether it is day or night. I don't care for any personal inconvenience. You become healthy that is my satisfaction. I will sleep here if needed. I don't care. Don't worry about that.]
**Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:** Śrīla Prabhupāda? Nava-yogendra Mahārāja has come from Africa to see you. Should he come over?

**[[spoken/771015r3.vrn|Room Conversation With Svarūpa Dāmodara — October 15, 1977, Vṛndāvana]]**
**Svarūpa Dāmodara:** ...last night, and we finished the showing of the movies, and they were very appreciative. They expressed that there is an atmosphere of purity here, and cleanliness. They highly commended our temple activities. Some of them were in the *ārati.* They also wanted to see the *ārati* in the morning today. So it seems to me that most of them are devotees.
**Bhāgavata:** This is a big success, Śrīla Prabhupāda. The scientists are all stonehearted men, but you have melted their hearts. This Kṛṣṇa consciousness is so nice, and you have simply melted their hearts. This is all by your grace, Śrīla Prabhupāda, that even the scientists are now being delivered.
**Svarūpa Dāmodara:** But by your mercy, Śrīla Prabhupāda, now I think many will come later. The man who came yesterday is the friend of our chief guest. His name is Dr. Chowdury. He's also a retired architect. He had a strong appreciation of the architectural design of the temple. He said the *gurukula* also... They looked all over the *gurukula,* and they were very appreciative. So then I told him that we are planning to build another auditorium for the Institute and for the ISKCON activities. So they didn't know these things before. This Ghattack, Professor Ghattack, he's the head of the Physics Department of India Institute of Technology. He told me last night that he never expected that such nice things might exist in Vṛndāvana. So he said there is an atmosphere of purity and cleanliness. He was thinking that maybe he could bring his child for the *gurukula*.
