# October 8 *Lectures from this day: 8 recordings* --- **[[spoken/721008mw.ber|Morning Walk — October 8, 1972, Berkeley]]** **Prabhupāda:** But where is the love of God you can teach the same thing—one pound of sugar in the ocean. Where is the love of God? Devotee (1): But simply because thousands and thousands of so-called Christians are fallen that doesn't mean that Christ's teachings are un-bonafide. **Prabhupāda:** Why not. Christ does not teach bona... unbona-fide. But the principles are not so strong. Why Kṛṣṇa says, *sarva-dharmān parityajya* [[bg/18/66|[Bg. 18.66] ]]. In that way in every religion you'll find something little good but where is the accept? Accept and this, *phalena paricīyate* if the result is nice, the result is not[?] nice. You cannot judge by one or two cases you have to take the version, version complete. --- **[[spoken/741008sb.may|SB 1.8.28 — October 8, 1974, Māyāpur]]** **Nitāi:** *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya. Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* [devotees repeat] [leads chanting of verse, etc.] **Prabhupāda:** > manye tvāṁ kālam īśānam > anādi-nidhanaṁ vibhum > samaṁ carantaṁ sarvatra > bhūtānāṁ yan mithaḥ kaliḥ > [[sb/1/8/28|[SB. 1.8.28] ]] --- **[[spoken/751008mw.dur|Morning Walk — October 8, 1975, Durban]]** **Prabhupāda:** ...money is finished. And there is no use, because they have lost India. For India they made all these arrangements. But that India is lost, so what is the use of maintaining? The Gibraltar also. **Puṣṭa Kṛṣṇa:** All of the ships would go around the south of Africa up to England. So they would maintain their shipping route. But now... That's a fact. They don't need it. **Puṣṭa Kṛṣṇa:** Yes. Here there is not as much stealing as in Nairobi. [break] I think they have had to amputate afterwards, mangled by the shark. It happens frequently. On some of the beaches here they've put up signs that "There's many sharks in the water. It is dangerous to bathe here." Kṛṣṇa says in *Bhagavad-gītā,* "Amongst fish, I am the shark." [[bg/10/31|[Bg. 10.31] ]] [Prabhupāda chuckles] He shaved off his beard yesterday, this young boy. He shaved off. He had beard. He shaved off. --- **[[spoken/751008r1.dur|Room Conversation with Bill Faill [reporter] — October 8, 1975, Durban]]** **Prabhupāda:** [aside:] Where is Puṣṭa Kṛṣṇa? Kṛṣṇa means God. The word *Kṛṣṇa* means all-attractive. So unless one is all-attractive, he cannot be God. So this Kṛṣṇa consciousness means God consciousness. Our position, we all living entities, we are all small particle, equal in quality with God—small, just like gold and a small particle of gold. **Prabhupāda:** Spark. Yes. Fire, big fire and spark fire—both of them fire, but one is big and one is very small. So our relationship with God is eternal. At the present moment, on account of contact with this material energy, we have forgotten our relationship with God. Therefore our life is problematic. We are facing so many problems. So again, if we revive our original consciousness, then we shall become happy. So this is the sum and substance of Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Now, the process how to revive our original consciousness. There are different processes, but at the present moment people are very, very fallen. This is called the Age of Kali—means most fallen. **Prabhupāda:** Most fallen. The so-called material advancement is not the solution, because God is eternal, we are eternal, and in the material condition we are changing our body. On account of our ignorance we are thinking, "I am this body," but I am not this body. I am that spark, spirit, part and parcel of God. --- **[[spoken/751008r2.dur|Room Conversation with Professors of the University of Durban — October 8, 1975, Durban]]** **Professor:** ...this morning from the east and from the west. Unfortunately, the rector is busy... The principal is busy this morning with somebody in his office, but he will be here just now. So we may just as well, shall I say, introduce. Perhaps I should say something about the university. **Professor:** Now, I just want to say as far as the... I don't think it's necessary for me to sketch the background history of the Indian community of... [break] **Prabhupāda:** You have given description. May I ask you one question? The transmigration of the soul, do you take it as science or religion? --- **[[spoken/761008sb.vrn|SB 1.7.51-52 — October 8, 1976, Vṛndāvana]]** **Pradyumna:*Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya. And all of the community leaders there are very anxious to see our Society increase. Seven Indian devotees have been made. **Jayatīrtha:** And the community leaders there are giving us plots of land in different Indian areas and money for building temples. It's a very, very good report from South Africa. **Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:** Not bad. It may be that your pulse is like that because you're resting. After a long sleep the pulse can be weak and slow. I thought it would be good to read to you. His name is Gopesh Kumar Ojah, and his son's name is Asutosh Ojah. **Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:** Yes. He wanted your blessings. He says... This is a very detailed chart he did. All the calculations are given. He said *Śukra* as *Munteśa,[?] Varṣa-lagneśa,[?]* has no directional strength. Therefore the solar return is not good. The lord of the sixth house is conjunct, *maṅgala,* not good. The following days are not auspicious: the 27th to the 28th of September, the 24th to the 25th of October, the 20th, 21st and 22nd of November, and 3rd and 4th of December. He says, "Śrīla Prabhupādajī is at present undergoing the fag end of *Ketu Mahādaśa,* and it will last until the 13th of January, 1978. *Ketu* is in the eighth house." **Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:** This eighth house is called the house of death. He says, "*Ketu* is in the eighth house with the sun, which is the lord of the eighth house, and *Krusu,* the lord of the twelfth and third houses." They are all in the eighth house. "Mercury in *Ketu* started from 16th January." He says, "*Budha* is the *satesa* also, disease. *Śani* has gone to the eighth house, which is the house of death, from the 7th September." That's the day you had your operation. Says Saturn becomes even worse. "In January 1978 until April 1978 it again traverses the same degrees and becomes stagnant on Jupiter and *Ketu* in the last week of February.
