# September 26 *Lectures from this day: 10 recordings* --- **[[spoken/690926le.lon|Lecture — September 26, 1969, London]]** [break] Ladies and gentlemen, our Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is just the appropriate movement for self-realization in this age. Self... When we speak of self, there are two kinds of self according to Vedic literature. The exact word in Sanskrit, the self: *ātmā.* And there is another word: Paramātmā. *Ātmā* and Paramātmā. There is some other words also—*mahātmā, durātmā. Mahātmā* means one who has expanded his soul up to the Supersoul, Paramātmā. He's called *mahātmā.* Another word is *durātmā,* when one is far, far away from the Supersoul. *Dur. Dur* means distant. *Bahut dur. Bahut dur pare hai*[?], they say. In Hindi also, they say *dur. Dur* means distant. So Paramātmā and *ātmā,* or God and Godhead, the Supreme Godhead or Supreme God. So we cannot place everyone on the same level. That is nonsense. As in this world we see that you are richer than me, and somebody is richer than you, and somebody is richer than somebody else... You go on finding out who is the richest, then you'll come to God. You cannot find anyone in this material world as the richest of all. When I go fast you may not go fast. **Prabhupāda:** Yes that's all. There this meter [indistinct] any condition this meter is nice... In every field of activities, in every body, there are two souls: the Supersoul and the individual soul." Sometimes the Māyāvādī philosophers, they take it for acceptance that there is one soul only, Supersoul. But here we get from Kṛṣṇa, the authoritative source of knowledge, there are two souls: the individual soul and the Supersoul. Not one soul. *Ātmā* and Paramātmā. For that they don't care.] In the material world, even in the position of Indra, king of heaven, he has got also so many problems. Is there any temple? **Kartikeya:** No, it is quite old, but they go on adding small buildings for the public hall and all those. Suppose you have to have some program. So other important members said, "Why Abhaya Bābu is living separately? He should be the president of the Bombay." I never said, but they said. I was living separately. Then Prabhupāda requested, I mean to say, pleaded in my behalf so many things. He said three words, "It is better that he is living outside your company. He will do. When time will come, he'll do himself everything. You haven't got to recommend him." These very words. [break] ...Kṛṣṇa require any president or any GBC. He's giving chance to everyone, that's all. Otherwise thousands of presidents and thousands of GBC may come and go, His work will go on. Kṛṣṇa is complete Himself. He doesn't require anyone's help. That is Kṛṣṇa. **Haṁsadūta:** And I'm convinced, Prabhupāda, that in this temple, right here, you can make every week at least two, three Life Members, and you can sell thousands of rupees' worth of books. Yesterday I started one man, this boy Ikṣvāku from Germany. I said, "Just go around and greet people and show them around and sell them books." And the first few hours he sold seventy rupees' worth of books. And if I have a few people who just walk around and they walk right up to the guests and say, "How do you do? My name is so and so. I come from New York. What is your name?
