**Prabhupāda:** > arjuna uvāca > prakṛtiṁ puruṣaṁ caiva > kṣetraṁ kṣetrajñaṁ eva ca > etad veditum icchāmi > jñānaṁ jñeyaṁ ca keśava > [[bg/13/1|[Bg. 13.1] ]]
So four questions. Arjuna wanted to know from Kṛṣṇa the answers of four questions. First, *prakṛti,* this material nature; *puruṣam,* the enjoyer of the material nature; *kṣetram,* the field of enjoying, or field of activities; and *kṣetrajñam,* one who is enjoying, or one who is acting on the field. *Etad veditum icchāmi jñānaṁ jñeyaṁ ca keśava.* Another two things: *jñānam,* what is knowledge, and *jneyam,* what is the object of knowledge, the aim of knowledge.
So Kṛṣṇa replied, *idaṁ śarīraṁ kaunteya kṣetram ity abhidhīyate* [[bg/13/2|[Bg. 13.2] ]]: "This body is *kṣetra.*" *Etad yo vetti taṁ prāhuḥ kṣetrajñaḥ iti tad-vidaḥ:* "And one who knows this body, he's *kṣetrajña*." The whole subject matter of *Bhagavad-gītā* is to know who is the proprietor of this body. Generally everyone, 99.9 percent, everyone knows that "I am this body." But that is not the fact. The owner of the body: one who knows that "I am not this body, but I am the proprietor of the body."

**Prabhupāda:** > śrī bhagavān uvāca > mayy āsakta-manāḥ pārtha > yogaṁ yuñjan mad-āśrayaḥ > asaṁśayaṁ samagraṁ māṁ > yathā jñāsyasi tac chṛṇu > [[bg/7/1|[Bg. 7.1] ]]
*Śrī-bhagavān uvāca*, it has not been said that Kṛṣṇa *uvāca* because Kṛṣṇa Himself is the Supreme Persoanlity of Godhead, Bhagavān, Bhagavān means Kṛṣṇa—*kṛṣṇastu bhagavān svayam* [[sb/1/3/28|[SB. 1.3.28] ]], in the *Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam* after mentioning all the main incarnations Suta Gosvāmi is finally saying this, even though we know various names of God *rāmādi-mūrtiṣu kalā-niyamena tiṣṭhan* [Bs. 5.39], there are different incarnations of God, Rāma, Nṛsiṁha, Varāha, etc. ete *cāṁśa-kalāḥ puṁsaḥ* [[sb/1/3/28|[SB. 1.3.28] ]] either they are the expansions or expansions of the expansions, *aṁśa or kalāḥ* respectively.
But the main Supreme Personality of Godhead *kṛṣṇas tu bhagavān svayam* [[sb/1/3/28|[SB. 1.3.28] ]] Kṛṣṇa Himself, the Supreme Personality of Godhead is describing Himself. In the *Bhagavad gītā* Kṛṣṇa is explaining Himself in the *Bhagavad gītā*. No one can understand the *Bhagavad gītā* on his own by speculation, *manodharma*. No one can understand Kṛṣṇa by mental exercise, *manodharma* because Kṛṣṇa is limited and our intelligence and knowledge are limited. That is why the knowledge acquired by our senses is sensual knowledge *akṣaja jñāna* with this sensory knowledge we will not be able to understand Kṛṣṇa. This is not possible. That is why those who are engaged in mental speculation thinking that God should be like this or like that He has form or is formless. Some will think that there is no God or that God is dead. So, all our attempts to understand God by speculation, all of them will prove to be futile. because we are all conditional living entities, this means that we have four kinds of faults. Firstly, we have a tendency to become commit mistakes, then *pramāda*, we tend to become illusioned—we start to think of something as something else. Just like we start thinking of the soul to be the body, particularly those who are atheists they think that they are their bodies. For example, think that they are Indians and that this is their only identity. Some may think that they are American but the scriptures say that you are not this body, Kṛṣṇa Himself has said in the *Bhagavad gītā* *dehino 'smin yathā dehe* [[bg/2/13|[Bg. 2.13] ]], *asmin dehe*, within this body the spirit soul is the real thing. The body is just an outer covering. So, this is called pramada, to consider one thing to be something else. So, *bhrama pramāda* followed by *vipralipsa*, we have a tendency to cheat, this is one of our propensities.

**Prabhupāda:** Society has lost this *saṁskāra* process; therefore they remain in the animal platform. *Janmanā* *jāyate śūdra saṁskārad bhaved dvijaḥ.* When a person is born even in human society, he remains a *śūdra. Śūdra* means almost like animal. Now he has to be reformed. That is called *saṁskāra.* Then twice-born. The first-class twice-born is *brāhmaṇa.* Second-class twice-born is *kṣatriya.* And third-class twice-born is the *vaiśya.* And remaining, who cannot be reformed, they remain *śūdra.* But there is cooperation between *brāhmaṇa, kṣatriya, vaiśya, śūdra,* and the society makes progress simultaneously for everyone. That is human society. At the present moment mostly all of them remain *śūdras* or less..., *caṇḍālas.* So how there can be any peace? It is not possible. There is no *brāhmaṇa,* no *kṣatriya,* maybe a few *vaiśyas* only. They are also half-reformed. And European culture, that is *caṇḍāla* culture, *yavana* culture. There is no reformation, no *brāhmaṇa,* no *kṣatriya,* no *vaiśyas,* simply *śūdras* and *caṇḍālas.* Mostly *caṇḍālas.* So Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is means for thoroughly overhauling the whole human society. [aside:] Hare Kṛṣṇa. Thank you.
**Prabhupāda:** Rascal, where is your freedom? You are kicked out like football from one life to another. Then where is your freedom, rascal? That they do not know. Therefore they are *śūdras.* He is being kicked out like football from this pole to that pole, and still he is thinking, "I am free."
**Prabhupāda:** Yes. Reformation means restriction. Civilized means restriction. Āryan means restriction. That is civilized life. Unrestricted life means cats and dogs. Laws are meant for restriction, and they are meant for the human society, not for the cats and dogs. Why the legislative assembly is there? Why the cars are going right or left? It is meant for the civilized person, not for the cats and dogs. So civilization means restriction. A dog can have sex life on the street, but you cannot have. That is restriction, because you are civilized. Civilized means restriction. The more you restrict, more you become civilized. Otherwise you remain animals.
