**Prabhupāda:** ...and if we repeat that, what is our fault? [laughter] [Hindi], Caturbhuja. [Hindi] We say Kṛṣṇa said that "He is a rascal who does not surrender unto Me.'' [laughs] Kṛṣṇa has chastised in so many places. *Tān ahaṁ dviṣataḥ krūrān kṣipāmy ajasram* [indistinct] [[bg/16/19|[Bg. 16.19] ]].
"Those who are envious, like that, I put them in the darkest region of hellish condition.'' [laughter] Kṛṣṇa says like that. Another place He says, *avajānanti māṁ mūḍhā* [[bg/9/11|[Bg. 9.11] ]]: "A person who is rascal, he considers Me as ordinary human being.'' [break]
**Ian Polsen:** And I have come to ask Your Grace because I cannot make spiritual progress without the grace of the spiritual master.

**Pradyumna:** *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* [**Prabhupāda and **devotees repeat]
**Prabhupāda:** Next. Yes? Go on. That's alright. Ladies? Ladies? Any other ladies? That's nice. Hare Kṛṣṇa. Now word meaning?

**[[spoken/740802bg.vrn|Bg 4.10 — August 2, 1974, Vṛndāvana]]**
**Prabhupāda:** > vīta-rāga-bhaya-krodhā > man-mayā mām upāśritāḥ > bahavo jñāna-tapasā > pūtā mad-bhāvam āgatāḥ > [[bg/4/10|[Bg. 4.10] ]]
*Bhāvam* means nature also. Just like we call nature *sva-bhāva, sva-bhāva.* So *mad-bhāvam...* This is one nature, this material nature. This is also Kṛṣṇa's *bhāvam,* means Kṛṣṇa's nature. Nothing is beyond Kṛṣṇa, but this is external nature. *Bhūmir āpo 'nalo vāyuḥ...* [[bg/7/4|[Bg. 7.4] ]], *bhinnā me prakṛtir aṣṭadhā. Bhinnā* means separated energy. The energy is working. Although it is Kṛṣṇa's nature, still, it is separated nature. Just like I am speaking; it is being recorded. When it will be replayed, you will hear the same sound, but still, it is separated from me. Similarly, this material nature is also Kṛṣṇa's nature. Nothing is beyond Kṛṣṇa. There are two nature: the spiritual nature and material nature. So material nature means external energy, and spiritual nature means internal energy. And we, we are also spiritual nature, marginal. We can remain either in the material nature or in the spiritual nature. Therefore we are marginal nature. There are three natures: external, internal and marginal.
So, so long we are in the material nature, external nature, we are unhappy. This is the position. Just like a fish, when it is put into the land, it is unhappy, or death. Similarly, if you, the creature of the land, if you are put into the water, you are unhappy, and death. So because we belong to the spiritual nature... As it is explained by Kṛṣṇa, that this material nature is *aparā. Aparā* means inferior, not fit for us. Therefore we are unhappy. So long we shall remain in the material nature, we must be unhappy. Just like this body. This body is made of material nature, and we are within this body. *Dehino 'smin yathā dehe kaumāraṁ yauvanaṁ jarā* [[bg/2/13|[Bg. 2.13] ]].

**Prabhupāda:** ...*yenātmā samprasīdati. Yena-ātmā samprasīdati* *[[sb/1/2/6|[SB. 1.2.6] ]]. If you want to please yourself... Everyone is trying to please himself, but here is the formula: *yenātmā samprasīdati. Ātmā* means soul, the Supersoul, the mind and the body also. According to the different position, the *ātmā* is accepted in different angles of vision. But on the whole, we are searching after bodily comforts, mental peace, and satisfaction of the soul and satisfaction of the Supersoul. So this is the only process. *Yato bhaktir adhokṣaje.* If you engage yourself in devotional service, *bhakti, sa vai puṁsāṁ paro dharmo...* [[sb/1/2/6|[SB. 1.2.6] ]]. And that is the topmost system of religion. There are different religious systems, different parts of the world, of the universe. But the real purpose of religion is *yato bhaktir adhokṣaje,* how to become engaged in the service of the Lord. That is religion. And this service of the Lord cannot be checked. *Ahaituky apratihatā.* It is not that for certain reason one has to engage himself in devotional service. It is spontaneous. And *apratihatā,* without any check. Just like we are sitting down here, there is no check. Anywhere we can sit down. Of course, sometimes the climatic condition different, but there are different climates also. In India we have got almost all the year climate like this, except in the rainy season—that is also not constantly. Therefore India is supposed to be the best place for developing Kṛṣṇa consciousness, because the climate is very suitable. So here also, now this climate. It is not conditional, but you can perform devotional service, *kīrtana,* without any check. Not that we have to live in that palace, then we can chant. No. We can live..., we can sit down underneath a tree and chant. There is no limit. We can go on.
So we have to adjust things in such a way that without any condition, without any check, we can go on with our devotional service. Just like we can sit down here or anywhere. Here is the opportunity. This land is very good. You can sit down anywhere and chant this Hare Kṛṣṇa *mahā-mantra.* There is no need of chair or cushion or nothing else. *Ahaituky apratihatā.* Any condition. And *yenātmā samprasīdati,* that will please your everything—your heart, your mind, your body, your soul, everything. *Yenātmā samprasīdati.* This is the easiest method for achieving the highest perfection of life. So go on with this process without any check and be happy.

**Devotee (1):** This is from the previous owner, Prabhupāda. He's agreed to take the graves away. He is simply finding another place for them. It's part of the contract we made with him, that he had to remove them.
**Devotee (1):** There is a law by which it's very difficult to move graves anywhere. So he's trying to get permission from the *maire* to do it. [break]
**Bhagavān:** ...built a big factory here to engage people who were socially misfit, and he was making all kinds of plastic toys. So when we moved in, we suggested that he help manufacture Spiritual Sky. So now almost his whole factory is being used.

**Prabhupāda:** Very peacefully you can live. In the city you go, thousands of cars are running—*ror-ror-ror-ror-ror-ror-ror-ror-ror.* What is called? Flyway, expressway, downway. Every ten yards stop for the light. [laughter] How artificial life. And with all these things, if people would have been happy, all right. But they're not happy, in spite of all this advancement.
**Prabhupāda:** Not only many cars, they new construct, new roads, new... Increasing business, in the hope of happiness. But there is no happiness.
**Prabhupāda:** First of all, paved way, then flyway, then another flyway, then another flyway. In this way. *Bahir-artha-māninaḥ* [[sb/7/5/31|[SB. 7.5.31] ]].

**Prabhupāda:** *Jaya.* [devotees offers obeisances] So Aniruddha, you are going to stay here? You are going to stay? That's nice. He's a big devotee. He says, "I am big devotee." Hmm.
**Prabhupāda:** [aside to Hari-śauri:] Is this ripe? You can cut this into pieces and boil, four times water.
**Prabhupāda:** If possible. Come on. [distributes cookies] So distribute to the fathers and mothers. Ah give him one more. Here, here. All right, give them first. Come on. That's all? Once? No more?Devotee:** Finish.

**Harikeśa:** There are two sons? And a friend asked what was his... One was very dark... [laughter] Not Prabhup**ā**da.
**Prabhupāda:** Indian system is, the bridegroom... So when the man went to see the bridegroom, his father called his son, bridegroom's father, "My dear Gorācānd, please come here." So he came. He was just like a black Negro. And Gorācānd means fair complexion. So one of the party came to see. So, "This is in your country Gorācānda, so where is Kālācāndcan you bring him?" So that is the respectable gentleman, and what is debauch?
**Prabhupāda:** When Gorācānd was called, a black Negro came. So if Kālācānd is called, who will come then? [laughter]
