# July 30 ## Spoken on July 30 *Lectures from this day: 5 recordings* --- **[1973: Bhagavad-gītā 1.43](spoken/1973/730730bg.lon)** > So here Arjuna also says that *narake niyataṁ vāso bhavati iti anuśuśruma* : "Kṛṣṇa, I have heard it from authorative source." He never says, "Kṛṣṇa, in my opinion, if it is done like that, then people will go to hell." He does not give his own opinion. He says *iti,* "Thus," *anuśuśruma,* "I have heard." This is called *paramparā* system. Nobody should give his own opinion. He must quote the authoritative statement to support his proposition. So similarly, when Caitanya Mahāprabhu asked that "What is the aim of life, and how to achieve it?" so Rāmānanda Rāya, he did not give his own opinion, that "In my opinion, like this." > So therefore our ultimate goal is to satisfy the supreme government, Kṛṣṇa. Because Kṛṣṇa is the supreme. These universes, they are Kṛṣṇa's kingdom. There are many kingdoms. Just like we have got many universes within this material world, similarly, there are many spiritual planets in the spiritual world. These are commonsense affair. Why people will not understand? Therefore our business is to satisfy Kṛṣṇa, to become perfect, satisfy Kṛṣṇa. *Viṣṇur ārādhyate*. So how *viṣṇur ārādhyate*? This is the philosophy. *Na te viduḥ svārtha-gatiṁ hi viṣṇum*. --- **[1973: Room Conversation With Satish Kumar [Editor of Resurgence Magazine](spoken/1973/730730r1.lon)** > So even one is *śūdra,* we can give him deliverance by this Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement. That is our perfection. It doesn't matter he has become a *śūdra.* But Kṛṣṇa says, *māṁ hi pārtha vyapāśritya ye 'pi syuḥ,* even lower than the *śūdra, te 'pi yānti parāṁ gatim,* if he accepts Kṛṣṇa, then he also attains the perfection, goes back to home, back to Godhead. So there is no cause of disappointment because everyone has become *śūdra.* There is remedy also. > Kṛṣṇa says, *mattaḥ parataraṁ nānyat kiñcid asti dhanañjaya* : there is no more superior truth above. Truly speaking, that "Here is Bhagavān, Kṛṣṇa. There is no more superior person or authority than Kṛṣṇa." So what is our difficulty? We are exactly repeating the statement in the *Bhagavad-gītā.* Kṛṣṇa says, *mattaḥ parataraṁ nānyat*. We are saying the same thing. Kṛṣṇa said, *sarva-dharmān parityajya mām ekaṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja*. We are asking these people, "Just surrender to Kṛṣṇa." --- **[1975: Morning Walk](spoken/1975/750730mw.dal)** --- **[1975: Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 6.1.48](spoken/1975/750730sb.dal)** > So how to keep oneself always with Kṛṣṇa, that is the aim of human life. And if we do not do that, that is sinful. Then we become punishable, that "You were given the chance to understand yourself, Kṛṣṇa and your relationship with Kṛṣṇa. You did not take this chance." Oh, he is punished: "All right, you become again animal, again in the cycle of birth and death." So we should be very, very careful. Do not think that "We are independent, and we can do whatever nonsense I like." That is very risky life. Do not think like that, foolishly. There is a regular... There is Yamarāja. Because we are sons of Kṛṣṇa, when Kṛṣṇa wants that "These My sons, rascals, are suffering in this material world. Let them come back home," therefore He comes personally. *Yadā yadā hi dharmasya glānir bhavati bhārata, tadātmānaṁ sṛjāmyaham*. He desires that, that "These rascals, they are rotting in this material world, birth after birth. Let them come back." Because He is more affectionate. So... And if he does not utilize this human form of life to take the advantage of going back to home, back to Godhead, that is sinful. Then he is punished. So the conclusion is that everyone should take to this Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement; otherwise, he is awaiting punishment by Yamarāja. > So Yamarāja, when a person is brought before him, he can immediately understand that "He was sinful in this way." *Manasā pure devaḥ.* Or Yamarāja is sitting in his place, but he is seeing everyone, what he is doing, through the sun, through the moon—we have already discussed—through fire, through evening, through morning. There are so many witnesses. And all those information goes to him, and because he is almost as powerful as Bhagavān, he can remember. This is special power. *Manasaiva pure devaḥ pūrva-rūpam.* Because after death, one is brought before Yamarāja, so before his death, what he was doing sinfully, that is all recorded in the mind of Yamarāja. *Manasaiva pure devaḥ pūrva-rūpaṁ vipaśyati.* Because they are so recorded, he can see vividly what this man was doing. *Anumīmāṁsate apūrvam. Apūrvam* means the next body. *Pūrvam* means the past body, and *apūrvam* the next body. So he immediately decides what kind of body this criminal, this sinful man, should be offered. *Anumīmāṁsati apūrvaṁ manasā.* That is also by his mind. He is so powerful; therefore he has been addressed as Bhagavān. *Anumīmāṁsate.* Just like the judge. He is hearing the case. That is everyone, anyone who is hearing something. So he makes a conclusion, "This should be done like that." The judgment... --- ## Letters on July 30 *Letters from this day: 14* --- **[1969: Letter to Yoland](letters/1969/690730_yoland)** > The poems will be submitted to Hayagriva, the editor of *Back To Godhead,* for his consideration for publication. --- **[1970: Letter to Himavati](letters/1970/700730_himavati)** > I have not heard from you recently how you are and I have been anxious to know that you are recovering well from your car accident injury. --- **[1970: Letter to Sudama](letters/1970/700730_sudama)** > Your reports from Japan are very encouraging, so I am looking forward to seeing you there. --- **[1971: Letter to Aditya Sarkar](letters/1971/710730_aditya_sarkar)** > If you want to come here to USA, then please contact either Calcutta center (3, Albert Road; Calcutta-17) or our Bombay center (89 Warden Road, 7th floor; Bombay-26 (Akash-Ganga Building)). --- **[1971: Letter to Narayani](letters/1971/710730_narayani)** > I beg to thank you for your kindly presentation of $20.
