# July 3 *Lectures from this day: 10 recordings* --- **[[spoken/700703in.la|Initiation: Śrī Raṅga, Romaharṣaṇa, Śrīdhara — July 3, 1970, Los Angeles]]** **Prabhupāda:** Ten kinds of offenses, they are mentioned in the paper. You should avoid, and follow the regulative principles. Just like if you ignite fire, if the wood is dry, then the fire very quickly takes place. And if it is moist, wet, then it takes time. So..., so avoiding these ten kinds of offenses and following the rules and regulation will quickly ignite the fire of Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Otherwise, the chanting of Hare Kṛṣṇa *mantra* is powerful, even one is contaminated, but it will accelerate if you follow the rules and regulations and avoid the offenses. Therefore... So what are these ten kind of offenses? What is the first, first offense? **Prabhupāda:** Yes. Those who are engaged in preaching the glories of the Lord, they should never be defamed. That is the greatest offense. Then next? --- **[[spoken/720703dp.la|Departure Address — July 3, 1972, Los Angeles]]** --- title: Lecture — July 3, 1972, Los Angeles date: 1972-07-03 permalink: spoken/720703dp.la description: "Prabhupāda: So I am going out of station for few days. Besides that, our other regular program should go on. Nothing should be hampered. That is my request. Live peacefully and chant Hare Kṛṣṇa. --- **[[spoken/720703r1.ny|Room Conversation and Interview — July 3, 1972, New York]]** Mr. Valliere: Yes, I guess it would be hard to define in terms of a search. Man's..., man's search for something divine. I'd..., I'd define it in terms of, of a search for the divine. I've been studying Russian Elders in the Orthodox Church. Perhaps that's a tradition that you're familiar with in some way. They seem to have found the divine. I guess that's religion too. It seems to me both are, but perhaps you have a better definition than that? **Prabhupāda:** Yes. When you are searching with some hope, what is that hope? Why you are searching? When you are missing something, then there is a question of searching for that missing point. You said religion means searching after the divine. So that means you are missing the divine. Is it not? **Prabhupāda:** The other day we were talking with some scientist. We came to this conclusion, that the scientist, big scientist, they are simply concerned with the laws of nature. Because the laws of nature are very stringent. For example, there is death. Everyone will die. So nobody can check death. --- **[[spoken/750703ar.chi|Arrival — July 3, 1975, Chicago]]** **Prabhupāda:** Just now I have seen one article in the *Times,* four, five pages article, "Crime...," and what is that? **Prabhupāda:** So if you are serious, you can take our method and suggestion. Then you can stop this crime. **Prabhupāda:** That we have to suggest. The social, political, educational, cultural—everything has to be changed. So if you come, we can give you in details how it can be done. --- **[[spoken/750703mw.den|Morning Walk — July 3, 1975, Denver]]** **Prabhupāda:** Sun is situated in the middle of the universe. [break] ...diameter of the universe is... Four million or forty million? [break] Sun is situated 200 billion from the circumference of the universe. But the earth is between the sun and the circumference. Therefore it appears to be almost correct, 93 million. Apart from these differences, these people say there was no civilization before two thousand years? **Prabhupāda:** Three thousand. [break] ...this knowledge is there in the *Bhāgavatam,* which was written in words five thousand years ago, but the knowledge was known millions and millions of years. **Harikeśa:** Some of the scholars say that because Lord Buddha is predicted in the *Bhāgavatam* that it proves that the *Bhāgavatam* was written after Lord Buddha appeared. --- **[[spoken/760703mw.wdc|Morning Walk [partially recorded] — July 3, 1976, Washington, D.C.]]** --- **[[spoken/760703r1.wdc|Room Conversation — July 3, 1976, Washington, D.C.]]** --- **[[spoken/760703sb.wdc|SB 7.6.20-23 — July 3, 1976, Washington D.C.]]** --- **[[spoken/760703ss.wdc|“Life Comes From Life” Slideshow Discussions — July 3, 1976, Washington, D.C.]]** --- **[[spoken/770703dc.vrn|Discussion about Bhū-maṇḍala — July 3, 1977, Vṛndāvana]]** **Prabhupāda:** Ah, yes. He is animal. Know that. What is his idea? And he has not correctly estimated how high is Himalaya. **Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:** No. A gross underestimation—five miles instead of eighty thousand. Not even close. That means he has no idea. **Prabhupāda:** There are... I have seen many places by aeroplane, hilly tract. Perhaps you have also seen. They could never go there. Hundreds and thousands of miles, simply stone. --- ## Letters - [[../../letters/1968/680703_rupanuga.md|Letter to Rupanuga, 1968]] - [[../../letters/1968/680703_satsvarupa.md|Letter to Satsvarupa, 1968]] - [[../../letters/1969/690703_cidananda.md|Letter to Cidananda, 1969]] - [[../../letters/1969/690703_subala.md|Letter to Subala, 1969]] - [[../../letters/1969/690703_yamuna.md|Letter to Yamuna, 1969]] - [[../../letters/1971/710703_advaita.md|Letter to Advaita, 1971]] - [[../../letters/1971/710703_andre_de_wet.md|Letter to Andre De Wet, 1971]] - [[../../letters/1971/710703_damodara_abhirama.md|Letter to Damodara Abhirama, 1971]] - [[../../letters/1971/710703_jadurani.md|Letter to Jadurani, 1971]] - [[../../letters/1971/710703_jayadvaita.md|Letter to Jayadvaita, 1971]] - [[../../letters/1971/710703_phyllis_zakheim.md|Letter to Phyllis Zakheim, 1971]] - [[../../letters/1971/710703_satsvarupa.md|Letter to Satsvarupa, 1971]] - [[../../letters/1971/710703_tamala_krsna.md|Letter to Tamala Krsna, 1971]] - [[../../letters/1972/720703_gunagrahi.md|Letter to Gunagrahi, 1972]] - [[../../letters/1974/740703_cyavana.md|Letter to Cyavana, 1974]]
