**Prabhupāda:** *Jagannātha svāmī nayana-pathagāmī bhavatu me*. [crowd repeats] Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare / Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare. [crowd repeats] Thank you very much.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I thank you very much for your kindly participating in this great Ratha-yātrā festival. I have already explained what is this Ratha-yātrā festival. It is in commemoration of a grand visit by Lord Kṛṣṇa along with His elder brother, Balarāma, and His younger sister, Subhadrā, in a solar eclipse ceremony at Kurukṣetra. This occasion is the subject matter of this Ratha-yātrā festival.
Apart from these historical references in the matter of Ratha-yātrā festival, there is another spiritual meaning: that the Lord is situated in everyone's heart, and this body is just like *ratha*, or car. He is sitting in everyone's heart. It is stated in the *Bhagavad-gītā*, *sarvasya cāhaṁ hṛdi sanniviṣṭaḥ*: "I am sitting in everyone's heart.'' *Mattaḥ smṛtir jñānam apohanaṁ ca* [[bg/15/15|[Bg. 15.15] ]]: "I am giving everyone the intelligence as well as I am taking away the intelligence from everyone.''

**Prabhupāda:** When our eyes are anointed with love of God, we can see Him everywhere. That is the injunction of the *śāstras*. We have to develop our seeing power by developing love of Godhead. *Premāñjana-cchurita bhakti-vilocanena* [Bs. 5.38]. When one is sufficiently developed in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, he can see the Lord every moment within his heart and everywhere, wherever he goes.
So this Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is an attempt to teach people how to see God, how to see Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa can be seen if we practice. Just like Kṛṣṇa says, *raso 'ham apsu kaunteya* [[bg/7/8|[Bg. 7.8] ]]. Kṛṣṇa says, "I am the taste of the water.'' Every one of us, we drink water every day, not only one, twice—thrice or more than that. So as soon as we drink water, if we think that the taste of the water is Kṛṣṇa, immediately we become Kṛṣṇa conscious.
To become Kṛṣṇa conscious is not very difficult job. Simply we have to practice it. Just like this is an example how to practice to become Kṛṣṇa conscious. Whenever you drink water, as soon as you are satiated, your thirst is quenched, immediately you think that this thirsting, the quenching power is Kṛṣṇa.

**Prabhupāda:** [interrupting chanting] **You can practice this diacritic mark. English transliteration is there. It is not very difficult. Simply to practice twice, thrice, four times, it will come exactly, the pronunciation. You have to learn the diacritic mark. Then it will be all right. Word meaning.
**Pradyumna:** *nyarundhan*—checking with great difficulty; *udgalat*—overflowing; *bāṣpam*—tears; *autkaṇṭhyāt*—because of great anxiety; *devakī-sute*—unto the son of Devakī; *niryāti*—having come out; *agārāt*—from the palace; *naḥ*—not; *abhadram*—inauspiciousness; *iti*—thus; *syāt*—may happen; *bāndhava*—relative; *striyaḥ*—ladies.

Kṛṣṇa says that all these living entities... We are all living entities. Actually, every one of us is spirit soul, living entities. It does not matter whether I am a human being or other than human being—lower animal, birds, beasts, trees or higher celestial beings. There are many varieties of life, 8,400,000. Nine... *Jalajā nava-lakṣāṇi* [*Padma Purāṇa*].
In the water there are living entities of 900,000 varieties. We simply know that there are some fishes and crocodiles or sharks in the water, but *śāstra,* Vedic *śāstras,* they give definite information, how many forms and varieties of life are there within the water: 900,000. How many we have seen? Our scientist, our botanist, how many they have seen?

**Prabhupāda:** ...has got the body of a tree and one has got the body of human being, demigod. So the reason is *kāraṇam—kāraṇam* means reason—*guṇa-saṅgo 'sya [[bg/13/22|[Bg. 13.22] ]], as he is infecting the modes of material nature.
Infection. If we infect some choleric diarrhea, we'll suffer. Nature's law is. Therefore human being should be cautious not to infect. Just like educated man or civilized man, he is cautious not to infect some kind of contaminated disease. Similarly, human form of body with higher consciousness is there just to remain always cautious not to infect material, I mean, modes of nature. And that is devotional service.

**Devotee:** "O venerable Vaiṣṇava, O ocean of mercy, please be merciful unto your servant. Please give me one drop of mercy. I pray for the shade of your lotus feet."
**Prabhupāda:** Yes. So Narottama dāsa Ṭhākura has also said, *chāḍiyā vaiṣṇava-sevā, nistāra* *peyeche kebā.* Our this Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is for *nistāra. Nistāra* means to be liberated from the capture of *māyā.* That is called *nistāra.* Release, release from the capture of *māyā.* So Vaiṣṇava... *Chāḍiyā vaiṣṇava-sevā, nistāra* *peyeche kebā.* Narottama dāsa Ṭhākura, another Vaiṣṇava... As it sung by Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura, similarly, you know that Narottama dāsa Ṭhākura, he also has sung many songs, approved songs. Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura says that Narottama dāsa Ṭhākura's songs are Vedic evidence. All Vaiṣṇavas songs are like that, Vedic evidence. There is no mistake, cheating, imperfectness or illusion. Conditioned soul, they are manufacturing by mental concoction. That is another thing. They are full of imperfection, illusion, mistake and cheating. But when we hear songs by the Vaiṣṇava, that is for liberation.
So I am very glad to see this temple. You have purchased it? No. That's nice, very good space. And devotees are very nice. So our process is very simple, that we dedicate our life to the service of Vaiṣṇava and, according to his direction, *śravaṇaṁ kīrtanam* [[sb/7/5/23|[SB. 7.5.23] ]] , hearing and chanting of Viṣṇu, Kṛṣṇa, and refrain from the sinful activities. Then life is successful. It is not very difficult. We do not require to be very learned scholar or very rich men or to take birth in a very high family. We do not require all these things. If we are endowed with all these blessings, *janma aiśvarya śruta śrī*—[[sb/1/8/26|[SB. 1.8.26] ]] means birth in high family or great nation, to be very opulent, rich, and very highly educated or very beautiful—these things are very good material possessions. But if we have got them, it is all right.

**Rāmeśvara:** It is very basic. But this will be the cover of the *Antya-līlā,* volume two. It is a scene of all of the devotees at a big feast, and Lord Nityānanda is there, and Lord Caitanya is invisible except to a few devotees.
**Rāmeśvara:** Yes. So the questions they have are: While Lord Nityānanda is inducing all the devotees to chant, can some of the devotees be paying their *daṇḍavats* to Lord Nityānanda at that time? And the other question is: Although Lord Caitanya cannot be seen, except for a few devotees...
**Rāmeśvara:** Well, they want to make Lord Caitanya very prominent, because this will be on the cover of the book.

**Prabhupāda:** ...your American Congress Library, they placed a standing order, eighteen books, whatever I published, each book. So I have tried so many, what is called, GBC. They are not very expert to organize in India. So if you think you can do it... Now we have got sufficient place in Bombay. So if you take charge of this distribution of book not only in India but neighboring countries, just like Hong Kong, Singapore, if you think you can do that, that will be nice. You have got experience how to distribute books. So you think over. Now we have got very nice place in Bombay. We have got place for at least fifty men very comfortably. Is it not?
**Prabhupāda:** Everything, we have got enough facility. We are not going to rent anyone, anyway, any room. We shall utilize it for our purpose only, receiving guest, organizing this book sale. That is my idea. [*japa*]
**Prabhupāda:** You are capable. I know that. He is very capable. You know how to do business. Yes. In India an educated man and big, big government officers, lawyers, they will purchase. We do not approach them. School, colleges, library, universities. After all, English language is still current in India. It is not stopped. So they will like to read their own literature in English. They made vigorous propaganda to replace English by Hindi. That has failed. That has failed. No gentleman cares to learn Hindi. [chuckles] At least I never cared. I know Hindi, not by diverting my attention. No. That is very important, no. Automatically whatever I learned, that's all. I am not in favor of that Hindi. Especially in South India, they are all... So by appointing some professional men also.

**Santoṣa:** *O*ṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* [devotees repeat] [leads chanting of verse, etc.]
**Translation:** "The rare person who has completely adopted unalloyed devotional service can uproot all the weeds of sinful activities simply by discharging that service, and there is no possibility that the weeds will grow again. His devotional service is just like the sun, which can immediately dissipate fog simply by its rays."
**Prabhupāda:** > kecit kevalayā bhaktyā > vāsudeva-parāyaṇāḥ > aghaṁ dhunvanti kārtsnyena > nīhāram iva bhāskaraḥ > [[sb/6/1/15|[SB. 6.1.15] ]]

**Prabhupāda:** And they are all intelligent in sense gratification. Quite equal in intelligence, like the man. There is no scarcity of intelligence. *Āhāra-nidrā-b**haya* [**Hitopadeśa]. How to sleep, how to eat, how to enjoy sex, how to protect from danger—they know everything completely.
[break] ...he's trained up. And how to enjoy according to the body, place, that complete intelligence is there. Lord Brahmā has got that intelligence, and the small insect, he has got.
And Kṛṣṇa is giving everyone facility: "All right, enjoy." *Bhrāmayan sarva-bhūtāni yantrārūḍhāni māyayā* [[bg/18/61|[Bg. 18.61] ]]. Sarva-bhūtāni.* Everyone is getting opportunity. According to his *karma,* he's getting a suitable body. You want to become Brahmā? All right. And you become..., want to become a hog? All right. If you want to become worm in the stool, all right. This is going on.
