This movement is especially meant for human society who are serious about fulfillment of the mission of this life. There is a distinction between human life and animal life. Animal life means one who does not know who is the proprietor of the body. Those who are under the concept of this material body as self, they are as good as animal. But the..., in the human form of life one can distinguish that one is not this material body but he is a separate identity, spiritual in value. We can understand this fact if we give little attention to it, that we are changing our different body since the beginning of our life. We learn from Vedic literature that after sexual intercourse of the male and female, if it is fruitful, then the living entity is injected in the emulsion of the two secretion, and in the first night it takes the shapes of a pea. And because the living entity is there, it grows gradually, and then nine holes evolve, which are later on developed into two eyes, two ears, two nostrils and one rectum, one genital, like that. --- **[[spoken/710626sp.par|Speech at Olympia Theater — June 26, 1971, Paris]]** **Prabhupāda:** Ladies and Gentlemen, I thank you very much for your kindly participating in this Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement. This movement is very important. It is a movement to save the human society from a suicidal policy. The suicidal policy is... Just this evening I expressed my desires to the press conference that the human society is being misled by leaders who are blind themselves. Take, for example, just like there are a few blind men, and one, another blind man, is proposing to help them crossing over the street. So this blind following is there in this sense, that we do not know what is the aim and objective of human society. The aim and objective of human life is self-realization and reestablishing our lost relation with the Supreme Personality of Godhead. That is the missing point. So this Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is trying to enlighten the human society on this important point. According to Vedic civilization, the progressive march towards perfection of life is to realize one's relationship with Kṛṣṇa, or God. There is a book—perhaps you read or you know—*Bhagavad-gītā.* That *Bhagavad-gītā* is accepted by all *ācāryas,* or authorities in transcendental science, as the essence of all Vedic knowledge. In this *Bhagavad-gītā* we understand that the living entities, not only human beings, but other than human beings—there are many types of living entities—all of them are parts and parcels of God. --- **[[spoken/720626gc.la|Garden Conversation — June 26, 1972, Los Angeles]]** **Prabhupāda:** ...*achedyam.* These are the... *Achedya,* can be cut into pieces. [indistinct] cannot be burned. Now the physist, chemist, they have got experience, everything burns, everything is melted; therefore it is metaphysical. What is metaphysical? What is the meaning of "meta"? **Prabhupāda:** Yes. *Bhaja govindaṁ bhaja govindaṁ bhaja govindaṁ mūḍha-mate.* Scientists, physists, philosophers, after all, they will die. So knowledge of physics and chemistry cannot save you. Therefore Śaṅkarācārya says *bhaja govindaṁ:* "Just become devotee of Lord Kṛṣṇa." Kṛṣṇa says, *ahaṁ tvāṁ sarva-pāpebhyo mokṣayiṣyāmi* [[bg/18/66|[Bg. 18.66] ]]. There are many instances, great saintly persons have taken to Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Lord Caitanya says, "Take to Kṛṣṇa consciousness." *Yāre dekha, tāre kaha 'kṛṣṇa'-upadeśa* [[cc/madhya/7/128|[Cc. Madhya 7.128] ]]. So we should have to follow the big personalities. Why should we hesitate? --- **[[spoken/720626sb.la|SB 2.4.2 — June 26, 1972, Los Angeles]]** **Pradyumna:** *...bhagavate vāsudevāya. Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya. Virūḍhām.* Just like you have seen some big trees, standing for so many, many years, the root is firmly captured. You have seen, experienced. The business is to stand up for ten thousand years, but the root is capturing the earth like anything, strong. This is called *virūḍhām,* attraction. --- **[[spoken/730626sb.may|SB 1.10.13 — June 26, 1973, Māyāpur]]** *sarve*—all; *te*—they; *animiṣaiḥ*—without twinkling of the eyes; *akṣaiḥ*—by the eye; *tam anu*—after Him; *druta-cetasaḥ*—melted heart; *vīkṣantaḥ*—looking upon Him; *sneha-sambaddhāḥ*—bound by pure affection; *viceluḥ*—began to move; *tatra tatra*—here and there; *ha*—so they did. **Translation:** "All their hearts were melting for Him on the pot of attraction. It was warmer in January, the paper says, than now. Just during the day. [break] **Brahmānanda:** ...was very nice. In London, when I came there, the weather was very sunny and bright. It was very pleasant. Everything was green. **Prabhupāda:** Three hours. I was there. Up to eleven o'clock at night there is sun, and then perhaps twelve or half past eleven, there is night. That is also not full dark. And at three o'clock, again sun. So how many hours? Eleven to three. [break] ...above Sweden there is no night tonight. --- **[[spoken/750626r1.la|Room Conversation — June 26, 1975, Los Angeles]]** **Prabhupāda:** So you have given up the *Vaiṣṇava-sadācāra* for business selling. So you can be dangerous for that. **Devotee (1):** But at the same time, when we were maintaining that, we had the same problems, is that, when we presented sociological applications of the philosophy, for instance, to arrange marriages in a reasonable way, that the women not be sent out on *saṅkīrtana* to prostitute themselves to sell books, but be trained up to be wives, or that the *brahmacārīs* in the temple, someone would sit and talk with them and see how many of them want to be married and try and arrange some type of training for them, knowing that most of them are going to become married, rather than just have no training and one day find oneself married, out on the street with no occupation or training. **Prabhupāda:** First of all, you are not trained up. Whatever the money will be used for, I can simply make it a donation. **Prabhupāda:** No. You give me a statement, if not many months, at least in this month: what is the receipt and how it is spent and what is the balance. --- **[[spoken/750626sb.la|SB 6.1.13-14 — June 26, 1975, Los Angeles]]** **Santoṣa:** *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* [devotees repeat] [leads chanting of verse, etc.] *deha-vāg-buddhijaṁ dhīrā dharmajñāḥ śraddhayānvitāḥ kṣipanty aghaṁ mahad api veṇu-gulmam ivānalaḥ* [[sb/6/1/13-14|[SB. 6.1.13-14] ]] **Translation:** "To concentrate the mind, one must observe a life of celibacy and never fall down. Such a life of celibacy, or brahmacarya, is perfect. One should voluntarily give up sense enjoyment. One should control the mind and senses, give charity, speak truthfully, be clean and nonviolent. He should follow regulative principles and chant the holy name of the Lord. These practices certainly bring temporary purification.
