*Lectures from this day: 7 recordings*

**[1972: Lecture [Partially Recorded](spoken/1972/720607le.la)**
> So, *yac-cakṣur eṣa savitā sakala-grahāṇām.* Actually, the sun is the eye of all the planets. Now we are in this planet, earthly planet. So actual our eyes are the sun. When there is sunrise, then we can see, "Oh, here it is, here it is, here it is." So, *yac-cakṣur eṣa savitā sakala-grahāṇām.* All the planetary system that are existing within this universe, the sun is the eye, and because he is the eye of the Supreme Lord... *Yac-cakṣur eṣa savitā sakala-grahāṇāṁ rājā.* It is the king of all planets. *Rājā samasta-sura-mūrtir aśeṣa-tejaḥ. Aśeṣa-tejaḥ,* unlimited temperature.
> Unless you bring Kṛṣṇa, or *īśa... Īśa* means the supreme controller. He is actually controlling. *Īśa. Īśa* means the controller. So there is a supreme controller. We see in the..., in our experience, that some of the objectives are living and some of them are not living. Animate or inanimate—these two things we see in our experience. But above this animate and inanimate there is supreme animate. That supreme animate is called *īśa. Īśa* or *īśvara* means controller. So there are many *īśvaras,* or controllers, but the supreme controller is Kṛṣṇa. *Īśvaraḥ paramaḥ kṛṣṇaḥ* [Bs. 5.1].*

**[1974: Bhagavad-gītā 8.1](spoken/1974/740607bg.gen)**
> So this is the simple process. *Anta-kāle ca mām eva smaran muktvā kalevaram, yaḥ prayāti sa mad-bhāvaṁ*, yāti,* "he goes"; *na asti atra saṁśayaḥ,* "you do not doubt it." If you have taken Kṛṣṇa as the supreme authority, and Kṛṣṇa says there is no doubt about it, then why shall I become doubtful? Why shall I disbelieve Kṛṣṇa? This is the process. Chant Hare Kṛṣṇa. Always remember Kṛṣṇa. And death may take place at any time. There is no guarantee that after so much time you'll die. At any moment, you can die. Death, there is no guarantee. But it is a guarantee that you must die. That is guaranteed. But when you will die, that is not guaranteed. Therefore we must be prepared for death at any moment. Therefore a devotee is not afraid of death. He knows that death may come at any moment. We are... Nowadays, it has..., the death is very cheap. Because we are using this motorcar, these aeroplanes, so many things, ships and other things for transportation, and there is, every moment there is danger of accident, collapse, everything. So death is now very cheap. So we must be prepared for death at any moment. There is no guarantee, that "I am not yet old enough. I am not yet eighty years, ninety years. Why shall I die?" No. You may be twenty years, twenty-five years or younger than that. Death is assured, and it can take place at any moment.
> Kṛṣṇa says, "I am the *maheśvaram,* the supreme owner of all the planets." So actually Kṛṣṇa is Para-brahman. He's not only Brahman, but Para-brahman. That is accepted. *Kim adhyātmam. Ātmā. Ātmā* means this body, *ātmā* means this self, *ātmā* means the mind. But Arjuna is asking, "What is the real meaning of *ātmā*?" *Ātmā* means the soul. You are also *ātmā.* I am also *ātmā.* Every one of us, the minute particle, part and parcel of Kṛṣṇa. *Kim karma.* This *karma* means to work. That is material. Working is required in the material world. Without working, you cannot get anything. Here you have to maintain your body and soul together. Therefore you have to work. So work can be divided in different ways, but one has to work. One may work as a *brāhmaṇa,* one may work as a *kṣatriya,* one may work as a *vaiśya* or a *śūdra.* So work is there. Without working... The just opposite, without working, without any endeavor, you can live eternally—that is Vaikuṇṭha-loka. *Vaikuṇṭha* means without any anxiety. Here we are full of anxieties.
---
**[1975: Morning Walk on Kailua Beach](spoken/1975/750607mw.hon)**
>varieties of life, so many varieties of planets, sky, the sea, ocean, the mountains, the rivers, and they want to compete with God. Just see their foolishness. [laughs] Controlling nature, is their... Eh? Bali-mardana? Scientists, they want to control nature.
> *Anityatām.* [break]...be the motto of life. [break]...associate with the materialistic person. Try to associate with devotee, and always think that this world is for few days. That's all.
---
**[1975: Room Conversation with Yogi Bhajan](spoken/1975/750607r1.hon)**
> Siddha. Siddha* means one who has become unlimited, Brahman, *ahaṁ brahmāsmi,* Brahman realization. So Kṛṣṇa says, *manuṣyāṇāṁ sahasreṣu:* "Out of many millions of person," *kaścid yatati siddhaye,* "somebody is trying to become unlimited." And *yatatām api siddhānāṁ:* "Those who have become unlimited, out of millions of them, one can understand Me, Kṛṣṇa." So Kṛṣṇa understanding, God understanding.... When I say "Kṛṣṇa," God. God understanding is for the perfect unlimited, not for common man. Common man should accept the *ācāryas.* They must follow. *Ācāryopāsanam. [*Bg* 13.8] *Just like in India the Sikhs, they follow Guru Nanak. So Guru Nanak says, "Yes, Kṛṣṇa, incarnation of God." So they should accept, that's all. Not that every Sikh is expected to be unlimited as Guru Nanak. That is not expected. But they should follow Guru Nanak. Then they will understand. Guru Nanak says, "Kṛṣṇa is incarnation of God." The all the Sikhs should accept, "Yes, Kṛṣṇa is..." Then it is all right. It is not expected that every Sikh will understand Kṛṣṇa. *Mahājano yena gataḥ sa panthāḥ*.
> "A very learned *brāhmaṇa* and a dog and an elephant, a cow, a *caṇḍāla*—all of them, to a *paṇḍita,* really learned person, *sama-darśinaḥ."* You see? So now how a learned scholar *brāhmaṇa* and a dog can be seen on equal level? But it can be seen. *Paṇḍitāḥ sama-darśinaḥ.* It is on the spiritual platform, that every one of us is spirit soul. We are, by different *karma,* we are covered with different material dress. A dog is also a soul, and a learned *brāhmaṇa* is also a soul. But he is covered with different body, and he is covered with different body. So one who does not see the body, he can see on the same level. But one who sees the body, he cannot see. This is the basic principle of equality. I am seeing you are Sikh, you are seeing I am Hindu, he is seeing he is Christian, he is Muhammadan, and so on, so on. And nobody is seeing that nobody is *brāhmaṇa.* Nobody is seeing nobody is Hindu, nobody is Christian—he is pure soul. So that vision, unless one attains, how there can be equality? There is no possibility.
---
**[1976: Morning Walk](spoken/1976/760607mw.la)**
> How you have understood Kṛṣṇa? Kṛṣṇa says, "Out of many millions of people, one becomes *siddha,* and out of many millions of *siddhas,* hardly one can understand Me." So how you have understood Kṛṣṇa so easily, within two years? What you have understood Kṛṣṇa, that is materially understood. You do not know what is Kṛṣṇa. That is *prākṛta-sahajiyā:* "Oh, we have understood. Kṛṣṇa was a playboy, dancing with His girls. *Bās,* we have understood. Now we shall..."
> Tamala Kṛṣṇa: Sprinklers are on today.Rāmeś
> Śrīla Prabhupāda, some devotees, sometimes they feel that in ISKCON we're talking so much about the business of how to spread Kṛṣṇa consciousness, but we're not talking enough about Kṛṣṇa's pastimes, *kṛṣṇa-kathā,* they say. So that's another reason why they want to read all these pastimes.
---
**[1976: Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 6.1.41](spoken/1976/760607sb.la)**
> So when we speak of Vṛndāvana, it is not imagination. In the *śāstra,* there is description, how Kṛṣṇa is there, what He is doing. Especially it is mentioned, *surabhīr abhipālayantam.* Kṛṣṇa has got this hobby. Just like our hobby—dog-*abhipālayantam.* We keep, every one of us, especially in the Western countries, a dog. So why not Kṛṣṇa keeping so many cows? What is the difficulty for Him? So He, intentionally, He becomes a cowherd boy. That is His pleasure. Just like here, we, a minute particle of God, we have got so many hobbies. So He has... Because nothing can be present here without being in Kṛṣṇa. Therefore Kṛṣṇa says, *ahaṁ sarvasya prabhavo*.
> Therefore practically you can see the members of Kṛṣṇa consciousness, some of them are Indians, some of them are Europeans, some of them are Englishmen, some of them are black, some of them are white, some of them are *brāhmaṇas,* some of them are Hindus—but they do not think anymore that "I belong to this category." No. No. Or otherwise they could not work. Every one of them completely aware that "We are all Kṛṣṇa's servants." Similarly, *guru* is not ordinary human being. *Guruṣu nara-matir. Guru* is not ordinary human being. Ordinary human being cannot preach Kṛṣṇa consciousness. That is not possible. *Kṛṣṇa-śakti vinā nahe kṛṣṇa nāma pracāra *.* So anyone who is preaching, he cannot be considered as ordinary human being. Even though Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura has explained this, that why not ordinary being? His son is calling him "father," or his relatives, they're taking him as ordinary. So Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura says still he is not ordinary human being. Why? Because he is preaching Kṛṣṇa consciousness. So *vaiṣṇave jāti-buddhiḥ, guruṣu nara-matir,* and *śrī viṣṇu-padatīrthau.* The... Just like Ganges water, Yamunā water, to think of ordinary water, these are forbidden.

Actually we are eternal family members of the Lord, but due to our misuse of independence we have now forgotten our eternal relationship with Krishna, exactly like a man who is mad forgets his family relationship and loiters in the street.

> In the Srimad-Bhagavatam there is a question asked by Pariksit Maharaja to Sukdeva Goswami on the sinful activities of the human society. As a learned professor you will understand it very easily why a man is addicted to sinful activities. A person knows in two ways the after effects of sinful activities.
