**Prabhupāda:**Oh. So, I forgot to bring my watch. What is the time now? So classes end? From seven to...?
**Prabhupāda:** > manuṣyāṇāṁ sahasreṣu > kaścid yatati siddhaye > yatatām api siddhānāṁ > kaścin vetti māṁ tattvataḥ > [[bg/7/3|[Bg. 7.3] ]]
Kṛṣṇa consciousness is a science which is not for all. It is for all—it is very easy and sublime—but at the same time, the spell and strength of *māyā* is so strong that she does not allow to accept this very easy, at the same time sublime, spiritual process. Therefore Kṛṣṇa says in the *Bhagavad-gītā* that out of many hundreds of thousands and millions of people, somebody is interested in spiritual realization. *Manuṣyāṇāṁ sahasreṣu.* Out of many hundreds of thousands people, one is interested.

**Prabhupāda:** But according to our *śāstra,* moon is one of the heavenly planets. [break] ...is moon in any way? Because there is no water?
**Karandhara:** They say that if they want to set up some houses there, they have to..., everything has to be brought there. There's nothing there to use.
**Prabhupāda:** Oh. And still they must go there. And we are proposing another planet, Vaikuṇṭha planet; they are not willing to go there.

*ity ukto dharma-rājena sarvaṁ tat samavarṇayat yathānubhūtaṁ kramaśo vinā yadu-kula-kṣayam* * [[sb/1/13/12|[SB. 1.13.12] ]]
**Translation:** "Thus being questioned by Mahārāja Yudhiṣṭhira, Mahātmā Vidura gradually described everything that he had personally experienced, except the news of the annihilation of the Yadu dynasty."
**Prabhupāda:** > ity ukto dharma-rājena > sarvaṁ tat samavarṇayat > yathānubhūtaṁ kramaśo > vinā yadu-kula-kṣayam > [[sb/1/13/12|[SB. 1.13.12] ]]

**Prabhupāda:** ...material benefit, *śubha-kriyā*. So the initiation is not like that, that "I am taking to the process of chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa *mantra* for some material benefit." No. Because people become religious mostly for material benefit.
*Ārtaḥ* means distress, and *arthārthī* means one who is in need of money. Generally... Just like in Christian church, they go to the church for some material benefit: "O God, give us our daily bread," asking some material benefit. Similarly, Hindus also, they go to the temple, pray to the Lord, "My Lord, I am very much distressed. I have no money. Kindly give some money." So *harināma,* chanting of Hare Kṛṣṇa *mantra,* should not be taken like that, that "I am chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa *mantra* so that my material condition will improve." Not like that. Chanting of Hare Kṛṣṇa *mantra* means to come in contact with the Supreme Lord and increase my love for Him. That is the point. *Premā pumārtho mahān.* [*Caitanya- Mañjusā*] So if we think that it is *śubha-kriyā*—*śubha-kriyā* means something auspicious—no; that is also offense. We have already described so many offenses; this is also one of offense.
And next offense is *nāmno balād yasya hi pāpa-buddhiḥ* [*Padma Purāṇa* *Brahma-khaṇḍa* 25.16]. [The seventh offense against the chanting of the holy name] Anyone who thinks that "I shall counteract the resultant action of my sinful life by chanting, atonement," *prāyaścitta...* Just like one..., somebody commits some sinful activity, and according to different *śāstra,* scripture, there are atonement. Just like in Christian religion, if they admit, then it is all right. No. *Harināma* should not be taken like that, to counteract my sinful activities, or, "Because I am chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa *mantra* I can go on committing all kinds of sinful activities. It will be neutralized by my chanting." This is offense. *Nāmno balād yasya hi pāpa-buddhiḥ. Pāpa-buddhiḥ* means the desire for committing sinful activities.

**Reporter:** Ah, Swami? What is your purpose here with your, ah..., with the faith in seeking the growth and so on?
**Rāmeśvara:** The purpose of our, of our seeking the growth is so that people all over the world can become happy again. People who are suffering due to lack of knowledge about who they are and what their relationship is with God, and as a result of that ignorance, they're performing so many activities which cause them pain and misery, so that they can become happy again.
**Prabhupāda:** Misery..., misery is caused due to ignorance. Do you admit or not? The more we are kept in darkness of knowledge, we suffer. What is the difference between ah..., what is called? Developed nations and not developed nations. This America belonged to the Red Indians. And because they are not developed, their condition was developed, ah, different from the present America. They could not construct such big, big house, and big, big roads, and like that, because they are in ignorance. That is the difference. Prosperity, no prosperity; happiness, not happiness—they are ignorance and knowledge.

**Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:** While I was in New York, I've been going to the United Nations building there, and there's a organization called ECOSOC, the Economic and Social Council. It's made up of the members of the U.N., and I think there's very good chance that our Society can be represented amongst this group as a nongovernmental organization, which means that in various matters which the council discusses, we would be a consultive group and we would be able to present statements as well as literature on how to solve..., on our viewpoint on how to solve various problems facing the council. And these would be distributed to all the United Nations representatives.
**Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:** Well, actually, one of the things which this council handles is freedom of religion throughout the world.
**Prabhupāda:** That means they do not believe in God. Freedom of religion means whatever you like, you do.

**Pradyumna:** **Translation: "Śukadeva Gosvāmī continued: Being thus addressed by the messengers of Yamarāja, Vāsudeva smiled and spoke the following words in voices as deep as the sound of rumbling clouds."
**Prabhupāda:** > śri-śuka uvāca > ity ukte yamadūtais te > vāsudevokta-kāriṇaḥ > tān pratyūcuḥ prahasyedaṁ > megha-nirhrādayā girā > [[sb/6/1/37|[SB. 6.1.37] ]]
In this verse the word *vāsudevokta-kāriṇaḥ...* Vāsudeva, Kṛṣṇa. *Vāsudeva-ukta, ukta* means what is said by Vāsudeva. *Ukta* means what is spoken by Vāsudeva, Kṛṣṇa. *Vāsudevokta-kāriṇaḥ:* they'll do that, that's all. This is devotee. There is no difficulty to become devotee. At once you can become a devotee, within a second. They ask something, sometimes, that "How long it will take to become a devotee?" It will take one second. How? *Vāsudevokta-kāriṇaḥ.* You simply accept that whatever Vāsudeva says, you'll do. That's all. Vāsudeva says so many things. Vāsudeva says to Arjuna that "You fight." So if you accept, "Yes, I'll fight," then you become devotee. But Arjuna denied, "No, Kṛṣṇa, I'll not fight." That is our disease. Our whole disease is that as soon as we agree to accept the words of Kṛṣṇa, we are liberated, immediately. We are immediately in the Vaikuṇṭha. As as soon we deny, immediately within *māyā.*
