# June 2 ## Spoken on June 2 *Lectures from this day: 5 recordings* --- **[1974: Morning Walk](spoken/1974/740602mw.gen)** > Kṛṣṇa says, "What is the use of going to the Brahma-loka? Even if you live for millions of years, you will have to die." *Yad gatvā na nivartante tad dhāma paramaṁ mama* : "But if you come to Me, you will never have to die." Our struggle is for that purpose. *Antavat tu phalaṁ teṣāṁ tad bhavaty alpa-medhasām*. For these things, those who are trying, they are less intelligent. > The example, as I said, sometimes, *corera upara rāga kare bhūṅye bhāta khāoyā* [eating one's rice from the bare ground, angry at the thief [who repeatedly stole the plate]], that he lost his utensils several times. The thief stole it. Therefore he promised, "Now I shall take my food on the ground. I shall not purchase any more utensils." What is...? This is bathing place or...? --- **[1974: Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 1.13.11](spoken/1974/740602sb.gen)** > To take some benediction from the demigods, although people go there, *kāṅkṣantaḥ karmaṇāṁ siddhiṁ yajanta iha devatāḥ*. People are very much attached to enjoy this material world, so they worship Durgā, Kālī, or Lord Śiva. *Kāṅkṣantaḥ karmaṇāṁ siddhim.* They get immediately some material benefit. But *tad bhavaty alpa-medhasām.* What you will do with some temporary material benefit? That is the instruction of Kṛṣṇa. Don't be attracted by the temporary material benefits. Just try for permanent, eternal benefit. Go back to home, back to Godhead. That is the... That is the... What you will do? Suppose you become king. How long you will remain king? Or there are so many dangers. Sometimes the kings are beheaded. King John was beheaded. So material position is always tiltering, tilting. Yes. There is no fixed position. It will end. Therefore Kṛṣṇa says, *antavat tu phalaṁ teṣām*. Antavat* means it will end, today or tomorrow or hundred years after. It will end. So why should you... You are eternal. Why should you hanker after these things which will exist for some few years? You are eternal. Accept the eternal position. That is Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement. Eternal position. > So Kṛṣṇa is the friend, most intimate friend of the Pāṇḍavas. Therefore he says, *naḥ. Naḥ* means "our." *Suhṛdaḥ. Suhṛdaḥ,* this word, "always thinking of others' good," that is called *suhṛdaḥ.* The heart is not contaminated. *Hṛdaḥ* means "heart," and *su* means "very good." So Kṛṣṇa says also that *suhṛda sarva-bhūtānām*. --- **[1975: Morning Walk in the Botanical Gardens](spoken/1975/750602mw.hon)** > Śrutakīrti:[introducing recording] The following conversation takes place on Prabhupāda's morning walk, June 2nd, 1975, in the Botanical Gardens in Honolulu, Hawaii. [indistinct] --- **[1976: Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 6.1.34–36](spoken/1976/760602sb.la)** > Actually I am not this body. That is a fact. You analyze your body. So every point of view—*bhūmir āpo 'nalo vāyuḥ,* this material body is composition of five gross elements: earth, water, air, fire and ether.* So mind, intelligence, ego, that is *aparā,* inferior energy. Kṛṣṇa says, *apareyam itas tu viddhi me prakṛtiṁ param*. These material elements, gross and subtle, they are *aparā*, inferior. You cannot manufacture life by this inferior way. Otherwise, the so-called scientists would have manufactured long, long ago. Earth is available, water is available, and fire is available, the air is available. Why don't you manufacture it? If life means combination of these five elements or eight elements, why don't you manufacture it? Do you think there is life within these elements? You are [indistinct]. You say the man is dead because he is not breathing. So what is this breathing? This breathing is air. So if there is a scarcity of air, why don't you take a little air and inject, or make some machine? You are very expert in making machines. Make some machine with bellow, and put it within the..., and you can and bring his life. You analyze in this way. Actually if you are scientist, will you find, "breathing is life?" No. Then if you say that the blood has become white, therefore he is dead, then make this blood red. [laughter] It is natural red. Natural red doesn't mean... So many flowers are naturally red. Is that right? > So we can argue a good argument, logic, that you won't find life by combination of these material elements. That is not possible. Therefore a sane man must consider that life does not belong to these eight elements. It is something else. As I have already explained in *Bhagavad-gītā*, *apareyam*. This is inferior. This is dead matter. There is no life. *Apareyam itas tv viddhi me prakṛtiṁ parām*. There is another element. What is that? *Jīva-bhūta*. That is *jīva*. It is clearly explained. Why we should waste our time to find out how there is life, how it is working? Take instruction from Kṛṣṇa. Everything is given. And if you are intelligent, you'll understand; then you can learn. But if you are over intelligent then you interpret in different ways, then you go to hell and others go to hell. Don't do that. Therefore we are presenting *Bhagavad-gītāAs It Is*. Don't interpret foolishly. --- ## Letters on June 2 *Letters from this day: 7* --- **[1969: Letter to Bharadraja](letters/1969/690602_bharadraja)** > I can understand that you are having some difficulty in finding time to paint because of your other duties, but I think that all of these duties may be stopped so you can devote your full energy and time to painting. --- **[1969: Letter to Gaurasundara](letters/1969/690602_gaurasundara)** > I am very glad to learn that you are seriously looking for some asrama site on the Hawaii island. --- **[1970: Letter to Brahmananda](letters/1970/700602_brahmananda)** > Here presidents from other centers, like Hayagriva, Rupanuga, and Kirtanananda Maharaja, etc. Kirtanananda Maharaja yesterday played the church organ very nicely. --- **[1970: Letter to Sudama](letters/1970/700602_sudama)** > Please take advantage of the stall at the San Francisco Pavilion, and try to distribute the "Peace Formula" literature which you have sent to me as well as the card which you have also sent to me. --- **[1974: Letter to Jayatirtha](letters/1974/740602_jayatirtha)** > As you know, since the March GBC meeting in Mayapur you have been asked to manage affairs of the west coast U. --- **[1974: Letter to Mahamsa Giriraja Gargamuni Gargamuni Jayapataka Tejiyas Gurudasa](letters/1974/740602_mahamsa_giriraja_gargamuni_gargamuni_jayapataka_tejiyas_gurudasa)** > Please give him all cooperation and work together for advancement of our mission to make the people of India Krishna Conscious. --- **[1975: Letter to Manager Central Bank Of India](letters/1975/750602_manager_central_bank_of_india)** > I beg to inform you that on 13/4/75 there was an advertisement in the Ananda Bazar Patrika on behalf of West Bengal Housing Board that you are receiving application for apartments in Barahanagar Apartment Housing Estate. ---
