[sings *Jaya Rādhā-Mādhava*] [*prema-dhvani*] Thank you very much. **Prabhupāda:** So this is the true picture of God: *jaya rādhā-mādhava. Jaya rādhā-mādhava kuñja-vihārī.* He is simply enjoying, Rādhā-Mādhava. You have seen the picture, Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa. So eternally engaged in enjoyment, in the association of the *gopīs. Gopī-jana-vallabha.* And His only business is how to please the *gopīs.* Just like here, in this material world, the young boy who loves a young girl, he tries to please the girl always. This is natural, because originally, the same thing is there in God. It is a pleasure. It is a pleasure for the male to please the female counterpart. That is originally created. --- **[[spoken/730521sb.dal|SB 3.1.10 — May 21, 1973, Dallas]]** **Pradyumna:** *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* [leads chanting of verse] [**Prabhupāda and **devotees repeat] **Pradyumna:** *yadā*—when; *upahūtaḥ*—was called by; *bhavanam*—the palace; *praviṣṭaḥ*—entered; *mantrāya*—for consultation; *pṛṣṭaḥ*—asked by; *kila*—of course; *pūrvajena*—by the elder brother; *atha*—thus; *āha*—said; *tat*—that; *mantra*—advice; *dṛśām*—just suitable; *varīyān*—excellent; *yat*—that which; *mantriṇaḥ*—the ministers of state, or expert politicians; *vaidurikam*—instructions by Vidura; *vadanti*—do they say. --- **[[spoken/750521mw.mel|Morning Walk — May 21, 1975, Melbourne]]** **Madhudviṣa:** ...cannot become a medical practitioner by simply reading the books. He must study under a medical practitioner. So in the case of your books, is it possible to become a devotee without actually having personal association with you? Just by reading your books? **Prabhupāda:** No, it is not that you have to associate with the author. But one who knows, if you cannot understand, you have to take lesson from him. Not necessarily that you have to contact with the author always. **Śrutakīrti:** Just like the textbooks are not written by the teachers; they're written by other professors. --- **[[spoken/750521r1.mel|Room Conversation with Director of Research of the Dept. of Social Welfare — May 21, 1975, Melbourne]]** **Prabhupāda:** The defect of the Western country is practically there is no social structure. The father, mother, they divorce, and the children become careless. Most cases this is defect. **Prabhupāda:** I have seen many of my students, their family, whole family disrupt on account of father and mother, even in old age, divorce. I have seen Brahmānanda's mother. His father was very..., still living. Very good businessman, very nice family, good income. All of a sudden the father and mother disagreed, they divorce. The sons went somewhere; the daughters went somewhere. **Prabhupāda:** And the father married again, the mother married again. They were not happy, and the business also closed. Like that. So by one instance I can understand that how in the Western countries people become out of social structure. The root cause is godlessness. Root cause. --- **[[spoken/750521sb.mel|SB 6.1.1 — May 21, 1975, Melbourne]]** **Prabhupāda:** ...s*udevāya. Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya. Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* [devotees chant responsively] Hmm. So we have discussed the last two days what is the aim of life. So this whole Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is diverting the aim of life. There are two ways. Our present position, the aim of life is sense gratification. *Yan maithunādi-gṛhamedhi-sukhaṁ hi tuccham* [[sb/7/9/45|[SB. 7.9.45] ]]. Material life means sense gratification, as much as possible. And the central point of sense gratification is sex life. *Yan maithunādi. Maithuna* means sexual intercourse. This is the machine to keep the living entity bound up under the condition of material nature. We are conditioned by the material nature. We are thinking we are free. We are not free. That is not the fact. Therefore Kṛṣṇa says in the *Bhagavad-gītā* that "You are thinking that you are free, whatever you like you can do, enjoy sense gratification—but under condition. You are not free." --- **[[spoken/760521r1.hon|Room Conversation About Deity-Making and Tulasi Tea — May 21, 1976, Honolulu]]** Govinda dāsī: It's about eighteen inches. Oh, you said twelve inches. Twelve..., twelve is like this. **Prabhupāda:** So, only make a big hall there. On all sides a brass plate [indistinct] you make of this, like this. You make such small dolls, they can be soldered. They are very good [indistinct]. Govinda dāsī: Yes, I think so. I have... I'm making some I was gonna bring and show you this evening, some heads. --- **[[spoken/760521sb.hon|SB 6.1.21 — May 21, 1976, Honolulu]]** So yesterday Śukadeva Gosvāmī said, "In this connection I shall cite the example, historical example, of Ajāmila." So historical reference. It is not fiction, because Kānyakubja is still there. The city of Kānyakubja is still existing there, and the *Bhāgavata* was written five thousand years ago. So that means the city existed before five thousand. *Kānyakubje.* *Kānyakubje dvijaḥ. Dvija* means twice-born. First-born by the father and mother, and the next birth is *dvijaḥ,* means by the father, spiritual master, and the mother, Vedic knowledge. This is called second birth. *Saṁskārād bhaved dvijaḥ. Saṁkāra* means purificatory process. So that is human life, not that to beget a child. That begetting is going on by the cats and dogs. That is not... That is first birth. *Janmanā jāyate śūdraḥ.* So that kind of birth is accepted as *śūdra.* Then he can be trained up. A *śūdra,* actually those who are by qualification *śūdra... Śūdra* means lamentation, simply changing. They accept something, and then they find it useless, and they lament. The so-called scientists, philosophers, they're all *śūdras* because they say, "We have discovered something," and after few years, "Oh, it is now useless. Another theory." *Śūdra.* So *śūdra* cannot give you any education. That is not possible. Education has to be taken from *brāhmaṇa.* That is Vedic system. *Brāhmaṇa* is the teacher because they are trained up—*satya śama damo titikṣā ārjavam, jñānaṁ vijñānam āstikyaṁ brahma-karma-svabhāva-jam* [[bg/18/42|[Bg. 18.42] ]]. Therefore in India still, not in the city but in the village, the *brāhmaṇa* is accepted as teacher, natural teacher. And there was... --- **[[spoken/770521r1.vrn|Room Conversation — May 21, 1977, Vṛndāvana]]** **Prabhupāda:** ...in that paper he wrote, "In case I die, these three men will be trustees, and the majority will be effective." But actually, after his demise that scrap of paper was presented in the high court, and property was given. That is the... **Prabhupāda:** [laughs] No, and later on, he did not undergo hern... He thought, then, don't do. After all, everyone has got sentiment. He thought it that "The doctor has been called to kill me."
