# May 20 *Lectures from this day: 10 recordings* --- **[[spoken/660520bg.ny|Bg 3.8-13 — May 20, 1966, New York]]** **Prabhupāda:** [leads *kīrtana*] [*prema-dhvani*]. All glories to the assembled devotees. All glories to the assembled devotees. *Gaura-Premanandi. Hari Haribol.* --- **[[spoken/690520pu.col|Purport to Jīv Jāgo — May 20, 1969, Columbus]]** *Jīv jāgo, jīv jāgo, gauracānda bole. Jīv* means the living entities. Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu is asking all living entities to "Wake up. Please wake up. Please get up." *Jāgo. Jāgo* means "Wake up." "How long you shall go on sleeping on the lap of the witches, *māyā*?" *Bhajibo boliyā ese saṁsāra-bhitare:* "In the womb of your mother you promised that this life you shall engage in the matter of developing your Kṛṣṇa consciousness." *Bhuliyā rohile tumi avidyāra bhare:* "But you are forgotten everything under the spell of illusory energy." Actually, when the child remains within the womb of his mother, packed up in airtight bag, at the age of seven months within the womb, when he develops his consciousness, he feels very uncomfortable, and the fortunate baby prays to God, "Please relieve me from this awkward position, and this life I shall fully engage myself in developing my God consciousness, or Kṛṣṇa consciousness." But as soon as the child comes out of the womb of his mother, under the spell of these three modes of material nature he forgets, and he cries, and the parents take care, and the whole thing is forgotten. --- **[[spoken/720520sb.la|SB 2.3.1-2 — May 20, 1972, Los Angeles]]** **Pradyumna:** *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* [leads chanting of verse] [Prabhupāda and devotees repeat] --- **[[spoken/750520mw.mel|Morning Walk in the Botanical Gardens — May 20, 1975, Melbourne]]** **Śrutakīrti:** The following is Śrīla Prabhupāda's morning walk in the Melbourne Botanical Gardens on May 20th, 1975. [break] **Prabhupāda:** Huh? No, not speaking of flowering. I mean to say varieties, plants and creepers, two millions. *Lakṣa-viṁśati.* [Padma Purāṇa] Ten *lakhs* equal to one million, and *viṁśati,* twenty *lakhs.* **Hari-śauri:** There was one newspaper article in the paper I was reading. They were advertising a new book about the evolution of man. And they were saying that there was approximately two million varieties of life on this planet. This was the calculation of the scientists. --- **[[spoken/750520r1.mel|Room Conversation with Dr. Copeland, Professor of Modern Indian History — May 20, 1975, Melbourne]]** **Prabhupāda:** ...Mahārāja and his father, Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura. They wanted to preach. And Caitanya Mahāprabhu also wanted to preach. **Prabhupāda:** He had a very strong desire to preach. Then he attempted little. Then his son, my Guru Mahārāja, he was entrusted. He also attempted. He sent his disciple to London. And he wanted me also. Therefore at the last stage of my life, at the age of seventy years, [chuckles] I made an attempt that "Our predecessors, they wanted, and they wanted me also to do that. So my other Godbrothers, they could not do very well. So let me try." **Dr. Copeland:** [laughs] Not your kind, but they worship Kṛṣṇa. Not the same kind of consciousness, but they also worship Kṛṣṇa. --- **[[spoken/750520sb.mel|SB 6.1.1-4 — May 20, 1975, Melbourne]]** --- **[[spoken/760520r1.hon|Room Conversation — May 20, 1976, Honolulu]]** **Prabhupāda:** ...at any moment [indistinct]. And what is the program to get out of it? That is your nonsense. Why you are proud of your so-called rascaldom? You are in danger also. What is the need of this? What is your insurance to save yourself from the danger? **Prabhupāda:** Yes. Only insurance is Kṛṣṇa consciousness. *Kaunteya pratijānīhi na me bhaktaḥ praṇaśyati* [[bg/9/31|[Bg. 9.31] ]]. And nothing else. That is the only insurance. Ajāmila, how he was saved? Simply by chanting Nārāyaṇa. Nārāyaṇa is only insurance to save you. --- **[[spoken/760520r2.hon|Room Conversation — May 20, 1976, Honolulu]]** **Prabhupāda:** We have to stop the manufacturing ideas. What you have learnt by manufacturing ideas? He left. Off course, I do not wish to repeat the same thing. He left everything. He was in charge of the center here, and all of a sudden he left, everything chaotic condition. But I am here to revive that chaotic condition, and now we are in this position. What he has done? And leaving us in chaotic condition. Is this [indistinct] He left us in chaotic condition. Is it not? So if he leaves us he will suffer, we will not suffer. Anyone who leaves us he will suffer. I will not suffer. That is a fact. So if he decides with intelligence that "I've made so many mistakes," then it is all right. Govinda dāsī: Was there any settlement? When he talked to you today, did he indicate that he wanted to come back? Or does he... **Prabhupāda:** He does not speak anything. He simply hears. Now you can talk with him. If he actually sticks to our principles and he starts, that is Kṛṣṇa's [indistinct]; otherwise, let him do whimsical activities his whole life. But these whimsical activities will not help him. Not only he, anyone who does whimsical activities. So many big, big, they have come here. That is not good. I am convinced that if anyone is being whimsical, they will never be liberated. *Moghāśā mogha-karmāṇo.* Find out this verse. --- **[[spoken/760520sb.hon|SB 6.1.20 — May 20, 1976, Honolulu]]** **Prabhupāda:** *Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam,* Canto Six, Chapter One, verse number twenty? Is that the number, twenty? [leads devotees in chanting] "In this regard, learned scholars and saintly persons describe a very old historical incident involving a discussion between the order-carriers of Lord Viṣṇu and those of Yamarāja. Please hear of this from me." --- **[[spoken/770520r1.vrn|Room Conversation with Indian Guests — May 20, 1977, Vṛndāvana]]** **Indian man (1):** *[**Transl. *At present there is some oppression in Asia about this movement.
