**One:** "The Blessed Lord said, I instructed this imperishable science of *yoga* to the sun-god, Vivasvān, and Vivasvān instructed it to Manu, the father of mankind. And Manu in turn instructed it to Ikṣvāku."
**Purport:** "Herein we find the history of the *Bhagavad-gītā* traced from a remote time when it was delivered to the kings of all planets. The royal order is especially dedicated to the protection of the inhabitants, and as such, its members should also understand the science of the *Bhagavad-gītā* in order to rule the citizens and protect them from the onslaught of material bondage to lust. Human life is meant for cultivation of spiritual knowledge, an eternal relationship with the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and the executive heads of all states and all planets are obliged to impart this lesson to the citizens by education, culture and devotion.

**Kṛṣṇa-kānti:** Testing, one, two three.** Śrīla Prabhupāda's morning walk, May 9th, 1973, at Venice beach, in Los Angeles. [break]
**Svarūpa Dāmodara:** Śrīla Prabhupāda, I was going to ask is there any difference between *acintya-śakti* and mystic *yoga* power?
**Prabhupāda:** Yes. Mystic yogic power means the same *acintya-śakti,* dormant potency, which is within everyone. That can be awakened. The same example, as I have given, that everyone has got the potency to swim, but it has to be practiced. I cannot swim. For me, if one is swimming, it is inconceivable power. But I have got also that power. By practice, it has to be awakened.

**Gopal Kṛṣṇa:** Actually, from his talk I could understand that he actually doesn't want to do much. He said he will not be able to come and examine the patients even.
**Gopal Kṛṣṇa:** He says, "You try to find some other doctor." He told me, "You find out names and addresses of the local doctors, and we'll pick one of them."
**Prabhupāda:** No, no, we cannot divert our attention. It is not possible. Say, "No." You can say that "We consulted Prabhupāda. He said, 'At the present moment, unless our building is there, we cannot accept any other extra business.' " Tell him like that. [aside:] Hare Kṛṣṇa. [break]

**Prabhupāda:** What business. They haven't got any business. They must do all of these sinful activities. That is the defect of the modern civilization—keeping all men in darkness.
**Jayadharma:**Does that mean that the people that catch, catch the. Prabhupāda does that mean that the people that catch fish have to also become a fish?
**Prabhupāda:** Oh, yes. You will become fish. That they do not know, how the migration of the..., transmigration of the soul is going on. They cannot explain wherefrom the fishes are coming, wherefrom the trees are coming. Everything in darkness. And this civilization, dark civilization, is going on, in the name of civilization. They cannot explain what is death, what is next life. Sometimes they say, "It is nature," but *how* nature is working, they do not know. All darkness, *mūḍhā nā abhijānāti,* *mām ebhyaḥ param avyayam* [[bg/7/13|[Bg. 7.13] ]].* The birds and beasts, they are also catching fish, and they are also catching. Where is the difference? What is the difference? They have got this nice human body, and they are acting like the birds and beasts. And they are kept in darkness. There is no enlightenment. This is the modern civilization. [pause] The smell. What is the smell?

**Prabhupāda:** *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* [devotees repeat] *Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam,* Sixth Canto, Chapter Three..., Chapter One, verse number eight. [leads devotees in chanting]
So there are different varieties of sinful activities, just like there are different varieties of diseases. To become diseased is not our normal life. To remain healthy is our normal life. When we become diseased, that is abnormal condition of life; therefore we want to treat, get out of the disease. Similarly, this material life is the diseased condition of the living being. We are all living beings, but because we have accepted this material body, we are suffering. *Mātrā-sparśās tu kaunteya śītoṣṇa-sukha-duḥkha-dāḥ* [[bg/2/14|[Bg. 2.14] ]]. Now we require this fan. Why? Because feeling some pains on account of heat. That heat is felt by the body, not the soul. Therefore in the *Bhagavad-gītā* it is said, *mātrā-sparśās tu kaunteya śītoṣṇa-sukha-duḥkha-dāḥ.* These material pains and pleasure, they are simply touching this body, not the soul. Soul is always aloof. Just like we are on a car. Suppose there is some accident: the car is broken, but not the person, the driver, is broken. The car is broken. But because the driver or the proprietor of the car is too much adhered to the car, when the car is broken, his heart fails. Actually, the person has nothing to do with the car, but because he is too much attached to the car, when the car is broken, he thinks, "I am finished." Heart is broken. Like that.
