**Prabhupāda:** We are very glad to receive Professor O'Connell in this auspicious meeting. And it will be very nice, because he's studying the process of Caitanya philosophy. And this ceremony is one of the function in devotional service. We have got a big book... I think, Professor O'Connell, you have secured that book, *Hari-bhakti-vilāsa.* Have you secured that book?
**O'Connell:** I have the book. I'm yet to be a professor or even get my degree beyond the... I have the book.
**Prabhupāda:** That's all right. So that *Hari-bhakti-vilāsa* is written by Sanātana Gosvāmī in the name of Gopāla Bhaṭṭa Gosvāmī. Because Gopāla Bhaṭṭa Gosvāmī was a very young boy, and Rūpa Gosvāmī and Sanātana Gosvāmī, they were very elderly. But because all the six Gosvāmīns happened to be direct disciples of Lord Caitanya, so Gopāla Bhaṭṭa Gosvāmī, although very young, he was treated as younger brother of Sanātana Gosvāmī. So this book was actually written by Sanātana Gosvāmī, but it was published, or dedicated to, Gopāla Bhaṭṭa Gosvāmī.

**Prabhupāda:** So those who are to be married, may come here. Yes. Right side bride, left side bridegroom.
**Prabhupāda:** [indistinct] Little, little. You have not learned your hand? Left-handed. Three times. Just see. You are old. You should learn it. One, two, three, four. That's all. Watch it. You don't see? What I did? Come on. I'll show you again. One, two, three, four. That's all. Do everyone. Is it open?

**Dr. Patel:** In Europe also they were eloping away with these girls. That young eloping [indistinct].
**Yadubara:** "I shall also see how You..." [break] "...Your internal potency You have set up the influence of *māyā.*" Is that is part of the internal potency?

**[[spoken/750506ed.per|Evening Discussion — May 6, 1975, Perth]]**
**Prabhupāda:** Where is difficulty to understand? If it is not understood, put your question and try to understand.
**Amogha:** In verses like this one, when there is the multi-use of one word, like the word *ātmā* is mentioned here to refer to four potential meanings. Sometimes professors and some scholars argue on the point, "How do we know which one of the meanings is used in this verse?"
**Amogha:** Sometimes they claim that we should not—we can—but we should not claim that our choice is the true choice. But they don't understand that any of those meanings can be true at the same time.

So Parīkṣit Mahārāja is trying to understand *pravṛtti* and *nivṛtti. Pravrtti* means here in this material world, anyone who has come, beginning from Lord Brahmā down to the small ant, they have come on account of *pravṛtti,* means for enjoying sense. This is material world. So long one will be engaged in sense enjoyment in different varieties, he will have to remain within this material world. Kṛṣṇa is so kind. We wanted to enjoy this material world; therefore He has given us full chance: "Yes, you enjoy." Kṛṣṇa does not want that you should enjoy this material world. That is not He... Sometimes the foolish men, they say that "Kṛṣṇa has given us this facility for sense enjoyment. Why we shall not enjoy?" Sometimes the so-called *ṛṣis* and *yogīs,* they also say, "Yes, when you have got the senses, it is meant for enjoyment. Why it should be stopped?" Yes. Because... Really it has to be stopped. If you want real life of eternal enjoyment, then you have to stop. If you don't stop, then you remain here.
*Bhūtvā bhūtvā pralīyate* [[bg/8/19|[Bg. 8.19] ]].* You have to take birth according to your desire, either as Brahmā or as ant, as a cat, as a dog, as demigod, and according to your capacity, Kṛṣṇa will give you: "All right." *Ye yathā māṁ prapadyante tāṁs tathaiva bhajāmy aham* [[bg/4/11|[Bg. 4.11] ]]. If you want from Kṛṣṇa sense enjoyment, He will give you all facilities. But Kṛṣṇa does not want. Kṛṣṇa said, *sarva-dharmān parityajya mām ekaṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja* [[bg/18/66|[Bg. 18.66] ]]. That is His mission, that "You will never be happy in this process of *pravṛtti-mārga.*"
