"...abode of the Lord, the material modes of ignorance and passion do not prevail. Nor there's any other influence in the matter of goodness. There is no predominant..."
**Pradyumna:** "There is no predominance of the influence of time, so what to speak of the illusory, external energy that cannot enter in that region. Without discrimination, both the demigods and the demons worship the Lord as devotees."
**Prabhupāda:** So this is the description, beginning, just to get an idea of the spiritual world. Unless we go there... Just like we have come to Japan. We are getting direct experience. But before coming here, from books and literature and maps—it is an example—we can get some information what is Japan. Similarly, the spiritual world, what is that spiritual world, in other places, in *Upaniṣad* also describes.

**Prabhupāda:** *Kliśyamānānām.* It is very important word. Everyone is suffering here. What the scientists can do that? "Future." That's all. Bluff. But everyone is suffering here. That is the word. *Bhave 'smin kliśyamānānām, avidyā...* [[sb/1/8/35|[SB. 1.8.35] ]].
**Prabhupāda:** *Kāma-karmabhiḥ. Avidyā-kāma-karmabhiḥ.* They are creating a situation of suffering by unnecessary desire. That's all. So your scientific improvement means you are creating a situation of suffering. That's all. No improvement. You cannot. *Kāma-karma... Kāma-karmabhiḥ.* They are working in such a way...
**Devotee:Prabhupāda?Prabhupāda:** Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura also says the same thing: *anitya saṁsāre moha janamiyā jīvake karaye gāḍhā [**Vidyāra Vilāse* 3].

*śṛṇvanti*—hear; *gāyanti*—chant; *gṛṇanti*—take; *abhīkṣṇaśaḥ*—continuously; *smaranti*—remembers; *nandanti*—take pleasure; *tava*—Your; *īhitam*—activities; *janāḥ*—people in general; *ta*—they; *eva*—certainly; *paśyanti*—can see; *acireṇa*—very soon; *tāvakam*—Your; *bhava-pravāha*—the current of rebirth; *uparamam*—cessation; *pada-ambujam*—lotus feet.
**Translation:** "O Kṛṣṇa, those who continuously hear, chant and repeat Your transcendental activities or take pleasure in others doing so certainly see Your lotus feet, which alone can stop the repetition of birth and death."

**Translation:** "I shall now declare unto you in full this knowledge, both phenomenal and noumenal, by knowing which there shall remain nothing further to be known."

**Prabhupāda:** ...and it is still going on all over the world. So what is the use of observing centenary for a dead system of religion, and which is not very old, not even hundred years? So what is the use? *Maṇḍanam loka-rañjanam* [Hari-bhakti-sudhodaya* 3.11]. Aprāṇasya hi dehasya maṇḍana,* with the body which is already dead, if you decorate it, it may be very pleasing to some, *loka-rañjanam,* but it has no meaning.
**Prabhupāda:** That is Vivekananda's philosophy. "Whatever opinion you have got, that is also nice." That means even if we differ, your opinion, my opinion, your is good and my is good. That means no controversy, that's all: making compromise. If I say, "Your..., your whatever you think..." This is going on. When Gandhi was approached that "You have got so much influence on the Muhammadans. Why don't you stop this cow slaughter?" Gandhi said, "No, it is their religion. I cannot stop." That is *yata mata,* that "Cow slaughter is also good, and cow not slaughter is also good." [chuckles] This is their philosophy. [break] What is called?
**Prabhupāda:** Yes. That is the meaning of *yātrā.* Every one of our Godbrothers built here *yātrā,* but they have no other source of income.

**[[spoken/770428r1.bom|Conversation: Vairāgya, Salaries, and Political Etiquette — April 28, 1977, Bombay]]**
**Prabhupāda:** *Niṣkiñcanasya.* One who has decided that "This world is useless. I have to take birth repeatedly and accept different types of bodies and suffer..." Body means... Those who have understood this fact and disgusted, so *bhakti* line is for them. One who has the tendency to enjoy this material world, and they are taking advantage of God, "Give me good wife, give me good work, good meal, good enjoyment," they are not in the *bhakti* line. They are in the very nascent stage.
**Prabhupāda:** Lower stage. *Vairāgya-vidyā-nija-bhakti-yogam* [[cc/madhya/6/254|[Cc. Madhya 6.254] ]]. That... There is one verse written by Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya. What page I don't... *Śikṣārtham.* The *bhakti-yoga, nija-bhakti-yoga... Bhakti-yoga* means devotion to Kṛṣṇa. And that is *vairāgya-vidyā,* how to learn, renounce this world. Otherwise why Caitanya Mahāprabhu gave up His *gṛhastha* life? He's the same person. Why Rūpa Gosvāmī gave up their ministership? By their personal behavior they are showing this is not required. Hmm? This is *vairāgya-vidyā.* So under the circumstances, those who have no *vairāgya,* they cannot live in the temple. They are taking advantage of the temple facilities for their sense enjoyment. Do you understand?
**Prabhupāda:** So that should be stopped. So to live with wife, together as a *gṛhastha,* and enjoy *gṛhastha* life, at the same time to live in temple, this should be discouraged. Temple is meant for *brahmacārī* and *sannyāsī,* our, mainly, not for *gṛhastha,* because they have got inclination to enjoy. To live with wife means enjoyment. They'll have sex. This should be discouraged. But one who is absolutely required, they also cannot be allowed to live together. It is bad example. Suppose if one is *gṛhastha,* he is in devotional service, but he has no money to look after his wife. In that case the wife can live in the temple, but separately with women, not together. Together living is very disturbing. It is not at all recommended. This is the point. At least, this should not be encouraged.

**[[spoken/770428r2.bom|Conversation: Animals’ Expertise — April 28, 1977, Bombay]]**
**Prabhupāda:** Anyway, they are also living entities like us. Whenever there is some sense of enjoyment, they flock together.
**Prabhupāda:** They are expert more than us. You cannot go. Suppose there is one *lakh* of rupees downstairs. You can get it. You cannot go in one minute. They can do.
**Prabhupāda:** They're expert. Suppose if I..., if somebody informs that "In the corner of the temple there is one *lakh* of rupees. Somebody has left," you cannot go in one minute. It will take at least ten minutes. But here it is kept—immediately. So how much expert they are, just imagine. So why you are so proud that you are scientist, you are expert? You are nothing.
