"The universe has its own time, fixed by the energy of the Complete Whole, and when that time is complete, this temporary manifestation will be annihilated by the complete arrangement of the Complete."
**Prabhupāda:** Yes. Everything in this material world, it has got a fixed time. And within that fixed time there are six kinds of changes: first birth, then growth, then to stay, then to produce by-product, then dwindling, then vanish. This is the law of material nature. This flower takes birth, just like a bud, then grows, then stays for two, three days, then it produces a seed, by-product, then dries up gradually, then finish.
So this is called *ṣaḍ-vikāra,* six kinds of changes. So you cannot stop this by your so-called material science. No. This is *avidyā.* People are trying to save himself, and sometimes talking foolishly that by scientific knowledge man will be immortal. The Russians say like that. So this is *avidyā,* ignorance. You cannot stop the process of the material laws.

**Prabhupāda:** *Asitāmbuda-sundarāṅgam* [Bs. 5.30]. Ānande bolo hari bhaja vṛndāvana [**Hari Haraye Namaḥ* 9].
**Prabhupāda:** Yes. It is good for the fish-eaters, because it has got fishy taste, although it is vegetable. Those who are fish-eaters, even by smelling fish, fishy, they'll increase their appetite. Is it not?
This seaweeds, all over the ocean. When passing ship, you can see. All over. Where is their root? Because the ocean is very deep. The root grows from the bottom?

**[[spoken/730427sb.la|SB 1.8.35 — April 27, 1973, Los Angeles]]**
**Pradyumna:** "[And yet others say] ...that You appeared to rejuvenate the devotional service of hearing, remembering, worshiping and so on, in order that the conditioned souls suffering from material pangs might take advantage and gain liberation." *[[sb/1/8/35|[SB. 1.8.35] ]]
**Prabhupāda:** So, *asmin bhave. Asmin* means "this." Creation. *Bhave* means creation. *Bhava, bhava* means "you become." "You become" means you vanish also. As soon as there is question of you become, you vanish also. Anything which is born must die. This is the law of nature. The so-called scientists are trying that they will stop death by their scientific research work, but they do not know that anything born must die. *Janma-mṛtyu.* This is relative. And anything which is not born, that will not die. The matter is born. Anything material, that is born. But spirit is not born. Therefore in the *Bhagavad-gītā* it is said, *na jāyate na mriyate vā kadācin* [[bg/2/20|[Bg. 2.20] ]]: the soul is never born, and therefore never dies.
Now, *bhave 'smin. Bhava*, this *bhava* means this material world, cosmic manifestation. *Bhave 'smin kliśyamānānām*. Anyone who is within this material world must work. This is material world. Just like in the prison house, it is not possible that he will sit down and he will be honored just like son-in-law. No. In the..., in our country son-in-law is very much worshiped. "Worshiped" means flattered. Never divorce the daughter. Therefore, nobody should expect that we may speak something humorous about son-in-law in India. Formerly... It is still the system that the daughter must get married. That is the responsibility of the father. It is called *kanyā-dāna*. A father may not get his son married. That is not very great responsibility. But if there is a daughter, the father must see that she is married. Formerly it was ten years, twelve years, thirteen years. Not more than that. That is the system. That was the Vedic system. *Kanyā*. *Kanyā* means before attaining puberty. *Kanyā.* So *kanyā-dāna.* She must be given in charity to somebody.

**[[spoken/750427sp.vrn|Explanation of Nṛsiṁha-vallabha Gosvāmī Speech — April 27, 1975, Vṛndāvana]]**
I should have spoken in Hindi, but with the permission of Śrīpāda Nṛsiṁha-vallabha Gosvāmī, because most of my students here present, they could not understand the Hindi speaking, so it is my duty to inform them the substance of his speech in English so that you can appreciate how much he has eulogized our movement.
You haven't got to be disappointed because some of the envious person, they are not accepting you as Vaiṣṇava. Śrīpāda Nṛsiṁha-vallabha Gosvāmī, quoting from many authorized scriptures, he has proved that in the matter of engaging oneself in the devotional service, there is no check, there is no impediment. That is confirmed in the *Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam: ahaituky apratihatā* [[sb/1/2/6|[SB. 1.2.6] ]].
That he has very nicely explained, quoting many authoritative statement from scriptures. And another thing: it is a fact that nobody can check *kṛṣṇa-bhakti.* It is transcendental; it is not material. Unless one acts on the platform of spiritual activities, one cannot understand why *bhakti* is *apratihatā. Pratihatā* means checked by impediments. So that is for material things. Just like a living being, a soul, he is checked by this material body. Otherwise, a living being can go anywhere, *sarva-gaḥ* [**Bg*2.24*]. The spirit soul is free to move anywhere, but because we are now covered by the material body, we are checked. But devotional service is on the transcendental platform; it cannot be checked. Therefore in the *Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam* it is explained, *ahaituky apratihatā yenātmā samprasīdati.*

**Prabhupāda:** ...in this human form of life, but unfortunately, the foolish leaders, they are keeping us in darkness. Therefore Kṛṣṇa personally comes. Whenever people are kept in darkness, that is called *dharmasya gl**āniḥ *[[bg/4/7|[Bg. 4.7] ]]. *Gl**āniḥ* means pollution, when the process of life becomes polluted. The process is that from the lower animal bodies we have come through the evolutionary process to this human form of life. Now there is further improvement required. This is the process: more and more. And that improvement goes up to the point of meeting Kṛṣṇa in Goloka Vṛndāvana. *Yad gatvā na nivartante tad dhāmaṁ paraṁ mama* [[bg/15/6|[Bg. 15.6] ]].
But even after coming to the platform of human being, the leaders, they do not teach them how to go further ahead, up to the point of Kṛṣṇa. They have no knowledge. Therefore they have been called, in the *Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, andhā yathāndhair upanīyamānāḥ.*

**Prabhupāda:** So this evening I shall speak to you about Sanātana Gosvāmī, when he resigned from his ministership in the government of Nawab Hussain Shah in Bengal and joined Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu in His movement of Kṛṣṇa consciousness.
So there is a long history how he resigned. He was the trustee of the government. Formerly, although the government was Muhammadan, the best Hindu personality was engaged to take charge of the ministership. Even in Akbar's time the same principle was done, Mahārāja Jai Singh. Even Aurangzeb, he was a very rigid Muhammadan, still, his principal minister was Mahārāja Jai Singh. Similarly, Sanātana Gosvāmī and his brother Rūpa Gosvāmī, they accepted the government service coming from a very respectable *brāhmaṇa* family. But they were rejected by the *brāhmaṇa* community because they accepted the service of Muhammadan. Formerly, the Hindu society was very strict. *Brāhmaṇas* would not accept anyone's service. So Sanātana Gosvāmī, after joining Caitanya Mahāprabhu, he left Bengal. And when Śrīla Caitanya Mahāprabhu was residing in Benares to deliver the Māyāvādī *sannyāsīs,* at that time, his Vārāṇasī... So after he was clean-shaved... This is one of the items of our movement. If one wants to be initiated, he must be clean-shaved. So Sanātana Gosvāmī was clean-shaved. And after becoming a regular Vaiṣṇava, then he is asking like this:

**[[spoken/760427pc.auc|Press Conference — April 27, 1976, Auckland]]**
**Prabhupāda:** Twice. When the Deity was installed, I installed personally. Then I think I came last year here.
**Prabhupāda:** Personally, I have got not less than ten thousand. But I was deputed by my Guru Mahārāja to make propaganda in the Western countries. So this movement... Of course, I have started in the Western countries, but in India it is very common movement, Hare Kṛṣṇa. Everyone knows.
**Interviewer:** Are you at all concerned about the..., what seems to be an increasing number of *gurus* and *svāmīs* throughout the world?

**[[spoken/760427r1.auc|Room Conversation — April 27, 1976, Auckland]]**
**Devotee (1):** Yeah, he's floating around somewhere doing nonsense. Now he's eating meat.* [Prabhupāda chuckles] And this one boy in Fiji wrote me a letter. His friend worked at the hotel, Guru Mahārāj-jī came and stayed there, and he was a waiter. For dinner, Guru Mahārāj-jī had shrimp curry and then beer. Drinking, eating meat and having illicit sex.
**Gurukṛpā:** Śrīla Prabhupāda, for the *abhiṣeka,* do we require cow urine and cow dung and tail of cow? Is it...
**Puṣṭa Kṛṣṇa:** He said that some of the town councils are trying to pass laws against our chanting in the streets.
