**Prabhupāda:** Hare Kṛṣṇa. So today you speak something, I shall hear. Yes. Any of you can speak something from *Śikṣāṣṭaka*?
**Viṣṇujana:** "Glory to Śrī Kṛṣṇa *saṅkīrtana,* which cleanses the heart of all the dust accumulated for years together. And thus the fire of conditional life, of repeated birth and death, is extinguished. Such *saṅkīrtana* movement gives the essence of all nectar of transcendental bliss and helps us to have a taste of that full nectarean for which always anxious we are." So this is the mercy you have given us, this *saṅkīrtana* movement, that every day, ten hours a day, we can chant the holy name of God right out on the street, and everyone who sees and hears is learning about Lord Caitanya, is learning about the Hare Kṛṣṇa movement, and is practically engaged in devotion.
**Ṛṣi Kumāra:** In the Vedic literatures it is stated that there are 8,400,000 species of life that one can take in this material world. So we've come to this human form, taken this human body, and it's such a great opportunity for realizing the purpose of life. We're so fortunate that Prabhupāda has come to teach us this process of realizing ourselves in this human form. So let us take advantage of this causeless mercy which Kṛṣṇa has sent us.

Boys and girls, today I shall explain to you the importance of Kṛṣṇa consciousness as it was conceived by one of the greatest devotees in this disciplic succession. You know we are under disciplic succession. We do not manufacture anything by mental concoction. We do not approve that method. We receive knowledge from the authorities, and out of such many *ācāryas,* or authorities, who have appeared and disappeared... We don't say born and died. No. [laughter] Appear and disappear. This is the actual explanation.
None of us, either Kṛṣṇa or we or all living entities, they appear and disappear. It is stated in the *Bhagavad-gītā,* Lord Kṛṣṇa says in the battlefield, "My dear Arjuna, either you or Me or all the kings and soldiers who have assembled in this battlefield, don't think that they did not exist in the past and they'll not exist in the future." That means they existed in the past and they're existing at present and they would exist also in the future. That means eternal. Eternal. We are all eternal.

[break] Impersonal. The manifestation of this material world is the impersonal feature of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. And His personal feature is situated in everyone's heart as Paramātmā. Therefore it is said here, *alakṣyaṁ sarva-bhūtānām antar bahir avasthitam* [[sb/1/8/18|[SB. 1.8.18] ]].* Although Kṛṣṇa, or God, is outside and inside, still, He is not visible. Still, He is not visible. *Alakṣyaṁ sarva-bhūtānām.* He is inside and outside, but still, He is not visible.

**Prabhupāda:** So being afraid, he wanted to be saved by his youngest son. Naturally we, anyone we love... But because the youngest son had the name Nārāyaṇa, the original Nārāyaṇa took notice of him, and he was saved, and he was immediately taken to the kingdom of God because he chanted the name of Nārāyaṇa. So those who are always chanting the holy name of God, they are in safety position. Safety position means next life, he is going back to home, back to Godhead.
So this is an example that such a sinful man, if simply by chanting once at the time of his death—that was also desiring his youngest son—he could get so much benefit, those who are chanting always the holy name of God, they should be always in safe condition. *Māyā,* or the material contamination, cannot touch him. But one thing, those who are being initiated, they are being freed from the resultant action of past sinful life. But they should be careful not to commit again sinful activities. Then they are safe. That's all.
**Prabhupāda:** That's all right. Take it. You know all the rules and regulations, regulative principles?

**Translation:** "Abandoning all attachment to the results of his activities, ever satisfied and independent, he performs no fruitive action, although engaged in all kinds of undertakings."
**Prabhupāda:** > tyaktvā karma-phalāsaṅgaṁ > nitya-tṛpto nirāśrayaḥ > karmaṇy abhipravṛtto 'pi > naiva kiñcit karoti saḥ > [[bg/4/20|[Bg. 4.20] ]]

**Santoṣa:** *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya. **O**ṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* [**Prabhupāda and **devotees repeat] [leads chanting of verse, etc.]
"In a temple of jewels in Vṛndāvana, underneath a desire tree, Śrī Śrī Rādhā-Govinda, served by Their most confidential associates, sit upon an effulgent throne. I offer my humble obeisances unto Them."
**Prabhupāda:** > dīvyad-vṛndāraṇya-kalpa-drumādhah- > śrīmad-ratnāgāra-siṁhāsana-sthau > śrīmad-rādhā-śrīla-govinda-devau > preṣṭālībhiḥ sevyamānau smarāmi > [Cc Ādi1.16]

**Prabhupāda:** No, another. Lomarṣa, Lomarṣa Muni. He would die when all the hairs on the body will fall down. And each hair will fall down after the death of one Brahmā. So he was chanting on the sea, and Nārada Muni was passing: "Why don't you make a cottage?" "How long I shall live? What is the use of cottage?" He's also thinking, "I'll die."
**Satsvarūpa:** There's also the story of that Mahārāja Khāṭvaṅga, who found out that he only had a minute to live. What did he do, that he...? You say that he surrendered at once.
**Prabhupāda:** He surrendered to Kṛṣṇa. That's all. Hmm. [aside:] You can come this... Go this way. [temple *kīrtana* in background]

**Prabhupāda:** ...consciousness, there is one very nice cause. The cause is, the Western people, they have no attachment for wife. Is it not a fact?
**Prabhupāda:** Yes. *Vairāgya* means that there must be another engagement. Then life is successful, with another spiritual engagement.
**Prabhupāda:** No, it was Kṛṣṇa's arrangement. Kṛṣṇa wanted to preach Kṛṣṇa consciousness in the Western countries, so He gave me the chance to take the credit, that's all. [laughter] It is Kṛṣṇa's arrangement. But He liked that one of His devotee may take the credit. That's all. *Nimitta-mātraṁ bhava savyasācin [**Bg* 11.33]. Kṛṣṇa said to Arjuna that "I have already killed them. They are not returning, either you fight or not fight, but you can take the credit." So it was arrangement of Kṛṣṇa that Western countries should now have this Kṛṣṇa consciousness. And He wanted to give the credit to His poor servant. That's all. Kṛṣṇa likes that. He does everything, but He gives credit to His [chuckling] poor servant. That is nice... *Vairāgya.* The whole process is how to achieve *vairāgya. Vāsudeve bhagavati bhakti-yogaḥ prayojitaḥ, janayaty āśu vairāgyam...* [[sb/1/2/7|[SB. 1.2.7] ]].

**O lord, O Prabhupāda, may you always be the object of my vision. Only the name of Kṛṣṇa can destroy my pride and illusion. Although my mind and intelligence are contaminated by ever increasing faults and wicked inclinations, I meditate upon your lotus feet in causeless devotion. In the most holy land of Vṛndāvana, Ramaṇa Reti is a famous spot, there at the lotus feet of Śrī Kṛṣṇa-Balarāma, you are preaching the topmost knowledge of devotional service unto the Supreme Personality, Lord Kṛṣṇa. O Prabhupāda, kindly bestow upon me that treasury always. I repeatedly offer my obeisances unto you.[Prayers to Śrīla Prabhupāda composed by Śrī Anantarāma Śāstrī.] Puṣṭa Kṛṣṇa:** *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya. Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya. **Puṣṭa Kṛṣṇa:[chants synonyms; devotees respond] Translation:** [05:14] "My dear Prahlāda, you are very fortunate. You may know from Me that those who are highly elevated, wise persons try to please Me in all different modes of mellows because I am the only person to fulfill the desires of everyone."
