Most of you know this book, *Bhagavad-gītā*. It is very famous book of knowledge. And we are presenting *Bhagavad-gītā* as it is. This Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement means to present *Bhagavad-gītā* as it is, without any adulteration. So Kṛṣṇa says four classes of men, *catur varṇyam... Catur* means "four," and *varṇa* means "division of society." Just like *varṇa* means color. As there are division of color—red, blue and yellow—similarly human being, human society should be divided according to the quality. The quality is also called color. *Catur varṇyaṁ mayā sṛṣṭaṁ guṇa-karma-vibhāgaśaḥ* [[bg/4/13|[Bg. 4.13] ]]. --- **[[spoken/730408sb.ny|SB 1.14.44 — April 8, 1973, New York]]** **Pradyumna:** "...feeling empty for all time because you might have lost your most intimate friend, Lord Kṛṣṇa? O my brother Arjuna, I can think of no other reason for your becoming so dejected." [[sb/1/14/44|[SB. 1.14.44] ]] **Prabhupāda:** Hmm. So Kṛṣṇa was the intimate friend of Arjuna. Not only to Arjuna; all the Pāṇḍavas. So they cannot tolerate separation from Kṛṣṇa. This is the sign of Kṛṣṇa devotee. Caitanya Mahāprabhu said that "I have no love for Kṛṣṇa." The verse, just now I forget. *Na prema-gandho 'sti* [[cc/madhya/2/45|[Cc. Madhya 2.45] ]]. "So you have no love for Kṛṣṇa. You are always crying for Kṛṣṇa, and still you say that you have no love for Kṛṣṇa?" "No, I am crying just to make a show. Actually I am not devotee of Kṛṣṇa." "Why?" That "Because if I could have been a devotee of Kṛṣṇa, how could I live without Him? I have not died, still. That means I have no love for Kṛṣṇa." This is the sign of love—that a lover cannot live for a moment without being associated with the beloved. This is sign of love. So this love, it can be appreciated only between Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa or between the *gopīs* and Kṛṣṇa; not otherwise. Actually we do not know what is the meaning of love. Just like Caitanya Mahāprabhu said, that, --- **[[spoken/740408bg.bom|Bg 4.19 — April 8, 1974, Bombay]]** **Translation:** "One is understood to be in full knowledge whose every act is devoid of desire for sense gratification. Like yesterday I heard that someone was chanting, "Nitāi-Gaura, Nitāi-Gaura, Nitāi-Nitāi-Gaura." Like that, I'll hear different *mantras.* Someone is chanting, "Rādhe, Rādhe, Rādhe, Rādhe," like that, at *kīrtana.* **Prabhupāda:** Aha. Well, that is not done by the *ācāryas.* But there is no harm chanting "Rādhe." But sometimes it is degraded to make something new, invention. Therefore better to stick to "Hare Kṛṣṇa" and "Śrī-Kṛṣṇa Caitanya Prabhu Nityānanda." Otherwise... Just like the *sahajiyās,* they have invented: "Nitāi-Gaura Rādhe Śyāma, Hare Kṛṣṇa Hare Rāma." The plane landed in Athens at twelve midnight. So I had to wait there for 45 minutes. We alighted and as soon as we went to the waiting room, we were four or five persons, immediately a few young men greeted us saying "Hare Kṛṣṇa." This was at midnight in Athence airport. So as you have said, actually we are famous all over the world as "Hare Kṛṣṇa people." As soon as they see us they say "Hare Kṛṣṇa." Sometimes they put cartoons in the newspapers. There was one cartoon that one old lady was telling to her husband in the funeral pyre, "chant, chant, chant," and the old man said "can't, can't, can't." The old lady says chant, chant, chant, and the man says can't, can't, can't. This is the position. --- ## Letters - [[../../letters/1968/680408_jadurani.md|Letter to Jadurani, 1968]] - [[../../letters/1968/680408_pradyumna.md|Letter to Pradyumna, 1968]] - [[../../letters/1970/700408_turya_shramy_maharaja.md|Letter to Turya Shramy Maharaja, 1970]] - [[../../letters/1972/720408_all_iskcon_temple_presidents.md|Letter to All Iskcon Temple Presidents, 1972]] - [[../../letters/1972/720408_bibhu.md|Letter to Bibhu, 1972]] - [[../../letters/1972/720408_gurudasa.md|Letter to Gurudasa, 1972]] - [[../../letters/1972/720408_puri_maharaj.md|Letter to Puri Maharaj, 1972]] - [[../../letters/1972/720408_tarkikchuramoni.md|Letter to Tarkikchuramoni, 1972]] - [[../../letters/1973/730408_giriraja.md|Letter to Giriraja, 1973]] - [[../../letters/1973/730408_sudama.md|Letter to Sudama, 1973]] - [[../../letters/1974/740408_manager_of_punjab_national_bank.md|Letter to Manager Of Punjab National Bank, 1974]] - [[../../letters/1974/740408_syamasundara.md|Letter to Syamasundara, 1974]] - [[../../letters/1974/740408_tejiyas.md|Letter to Tejiyas, 1974]] - [[../../letters/1975/750408_bhakta_dennis.md|Letter to Bhakta Dennis, 1975]] - [[../../letters/1975/750408_daruka.md|Letter to Daruka, 1975]] - [[../../letters/1975/750408_devakinandana.md|Letter to Devakinandana, 1975]] - [[../../letters/1975/750408_gupta.md|Letter to Gupta, 1975]] - [[../../letters/1975/750408_krsnanandini.md|Letter to Krsnanandini, 1975]] - [[../../letters/1975/750408_mantrini.md|Letter to Mantrini, 1975]] - [[../../letters/1975/750408_mr._ashis_roy.md|Letter to Mr. Ashis Roy, 1975]] - [[../../letters/1975/750408_mr._faul.md|Letter to Mr. Faul, 1975]] - [[../../letters/1975/750408_mr._fitzgerald.md|Letter to Mr. Fitzgerald, 1975]] - [[../../letters/1975/750408_mr._gururaja_r._rao.md|Letter to Mr. Gururaja R.
