# March 17 *Lectures from this day: 11 recordings* --- **[[spoken/670317sb.sf|SB 7.7.32-35 — March 17, 1967, San Francisco]]** So we have been discussing instruction of Prahlāda Mahārāja, a five-years-old boy, instructing his class fellows. So self-analysis. And he says, "When self-analysis is complete, then the result will be that the person who is in full Kṛṣṇa consciousness after studying self-analysis, his vision will be universal." That is the stage of universal understanding. --- **[[spoken/680317bg.sf|Bg 7.1 — March 17, 1968, San Francisco]]** *Mayy āsakta. Mayy* means "unto Me." Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, says, "Unto Me, Kṛṣṇa." We cannot interpret in a different way. When I say that "Give me a glass of water," it means that I am the person who is in want of a glass of water. And if you supply me, not to others, then it is right. So when Kṛṣṇa says "unto Me," that means Kṛṣṇa. But sometimes rascal interpreters, they say something else. Why? Even grammatically this is wrong. Kṛṣṇa says "unto Me"; therefore the action should be unto Kṛṣṇa, not of any other else. --- **[[spoken/710317le.bom|Lecture on Teachings of Lord Caitanya — March 17, 1971, Bombay]]** **Prabhupāda:** There are many *sat-saṅga* society, but in Europe and America, Western countries, this is the only, and they have very kindly joined us. So to serve them is our first business. So, we are talking of teachings of Lord Caitanya to Sanātana Gosvāmī. Sanātana Gosvāmī, he was one of the very responsible minister in the [indistinct] government of Bengal. And as minister, he was a learned scholar both in Sanskrit and Arabic. So he resigned his post as minister and wanted to join Lord Caitanya in His *saṅkīrtana* movement. He had some difficulties to get out of the responsible position. The Nawab, Hussain Shah, was very much counting upon his assistance. Generally, the Muhammadan kings, they were dependent on Hindu ministers. I have heard that in your this Bombay city, Aga Khan[?], his establishment for management were all Hindu officers. I do not know whether it is a fact. Is it a fact? --- **[[spoken/720317in.bom|Initiations and Lecture — March 17, 1972, Bombay]]** [break] ..."all-attractive." This is the Sanskrit word meaning, "all-attractive," *paraṁ brahma.* So unless God is all-attractive, how He can be God? So, *Aiśvaryasya*: God must be the richest of all. God must be strongest than all. God must be the most beautiful. God must be the wisest of all. In this way, if we analyze what is the meaning of God according to *śāstra,* or all-attractiveness, then Kṛṣṇa, Lord Kṛṣṇa, is the perfect symbol. --- **[[spoken/720317le.bom|Pandal Lecture — March 17, 1972, Bombay]]** **Prabhupāda:** Ladies and gentlemen, I thank you very much for your kindly participating in this Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement. It is already known to you that we are trying to spread this Kṛṣṇa consciousness all over the world. I was ordered by my spiritual master to go to the Western countries and spread this Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement. So in 1965, in the month of September, I went to New York with forty rupees in my pocket. But gradually—this is a long history—in a very short time this movement has spread all over the world by the cooperation of my American disciples, both boys and girls. Now we have got more than ninety branches all over the world, and we have come here in Bombay to open this center in this place where we are now sitting. So by your cooperation we wish to develop this center into a very large institution for spreading Kṛṣṇa consciousness. This Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is very important at the present moment. It is important in this sense: that throughout the whole world, I have traveled, everyone is practically without God consciousness. This means that this human form of life, which is achieved after many, many births, *labdhvā su-durlabhaṁ bahu-sambhavānte* [[sb/11/9/29|[SB. 11.9.29] ]]. --- **[[spoken/730317t2.may|Māyāpur Temple Inauguration Lecture Bengali — March 17, 1973, Māyāpur]]** **Śrīdhara **Mahārāja**: *Y*ogināṁ hṛdayeṣu vā yatra gāyanti mad-bhaktāḥ tatra tiṣṭhāmi nārada* [Padma Purana] [aside:] you remain. Why you are jumping in Delhi? **Gurudāsa:** But they asked us in L.I.C. the same thing. They asked us to leave L.I.C. grounds because the *kīrtana* was nuisance. --- **[[spoken/740317sb.vrn|SB 2.1.2 [Significance of Ṣaḍ-gosvāmy-aṣṭaka] — March 17, 1974, Vṛndāvana]]** Material world means *apaśyatām ātma-tattvam,* one who has no enquiry or vision of the *ātmā. Ātmā, paramātmā. Ātma-tattvam. Tattvam* means "in truth." *Ātmā* means this body also. *Ātmā* means the mind also. *Ātmā* means the soul also. So in the present material world they are interested in understanding *ātmā* the body. The medical science, physiology, biology, they are studying the science of the body. And some of them are studying the science of mind, psychology—thinking, feeling and willing. But nobody is studying the deepest meaning of *ātmā:* soul. There is no science. Throughout the whole world there are schools and colleges and universities to study the physiology, psychology, biology, sociology, so many things. But there is no university, school, college throughout the whole world to understand the soul. Is there any? Eh? You have come from all parts of the world. Is there any school, college or institute to study what is the soul? They have no information even. Even Russia is so proud of scientific advancement, falsely, but they have also no... They are thinking that the body finished, everything is finished. That's all. This is going on. *Yasyātma-buddhiḥ kuṇape. Ātmā* I have already explained. *Ātmā* means body, mind. But one who is thinking *ātmā* only this body, *yasyātma-buddhiḥ kuṇape tri-dhātuke* [[sb/10/84/13|[SB. 10.84.13] ]], in this bag of three elements, *kapha-pitta-vāyu,* he's *go-kharaḥ,* he's ass. He's rascal. So therefore it is said, *apaśyatām ātma-tattvam* [[sb/2/1/2|[SB. 2.1.2] ]]: one who cannot see *ātma-tattva,* the science of soul, they are busy only in this material body. *Gṛheṣu gṛha-medhinām.* So *gṛhamedhi* and *gṛhastha. Gṛhastha* is good. *Gṛhastha* is interested in *ātma-tattva.* Just like our students, although they are *gṛhastha,* they are interested in *ātma-tattva.* They are not *gṛhamedhi.* But those who are not interested in the science of soul, *ātma-tattva,* but they are interested only in the science of body and mind, they are *gṛhamedhi. Gṛhamedhi.* They are not *gṛhastha.* So my point is that our philosophy, Kṛṣṇa consciousness philosophy, is meant for understanding *ātma-tattva.* --- **[[spoken/760317mw.may|Morning Walk — March 17, 1976, Māyāpur]]** **Prabhupāda:** Within that temple, there will be the tree of planetary system, electric bulb, and they'll move round.
