**[1968: Radio Interview](spoken/1968/680312iv.sf)**
> Kṛṣṇa says that He is God, and He says, "All these living entities are My part and parcel." So we are component parts of the Supreme Lord. Therefore as the component part of machine is to cooperate with the full machine, so our duty is to cooperate with the Supreme Lord. That is our identity.
> If in the prison life one is comfortably situated, then he'll never go out; he'll try to live there. So these material inflictions of miseries reminds us that this place is not suitable for us. It is not our place. Our place is back to Godhead, back to home. Therefore these are the reminders that you must leave this place.

**[1972: Room Conversation with Dr. Kapoor](spoken/1972/720312r1.vrn)**
> So therefore the [indistinct] this policy. They changed the whole policy how the Hindu will think everything mentioned in the *śāstra* is nonsense. They have trained up, and Nehru is the first-class trainee. Everything mentioned in the *śāstra,* the *Ārya-samāj,* they also wrote *Satyartha,* [indistinct], so many. And Dr. Radhakrishnan also. All the scholars, they would never mention any *śāstra* more than once within one thousand years. That means...
> Dr. Kapoor: Atonement. So I was made to undergo atonement, you see. [chuckles] I was coming to Mathurā. I had to drop down some [indistinct] at Mathurā, and I had a trunk and bedding with me. [break] [Hindi] a big volume, about one thousand pages. That he had given to me for revision. So that thing was there. There was one...

**[1973: Lecture in Bengali](spoken/1973/730312le.cal)**
> If we would like to write a poem about Lord needs lots of deep thinking and concentration. Lord Brahmā is known as "*adi kavi*" [original poet] of this Brahamanda. Brahma compose few hymn to pacify Lord Nrishimha deva, *brahma-ādayaḥ, sura-gaṇāḥ* means the inhabitants of the upper planetary systems and *munayaḥ* the great saintly persons *siddhāḥ* who have attained perfection, all of them unable to pacify Lord. *Sattvaikatāna-gatayo vacasāṁ pravāhaiḥ*, uttering spiritual descriptions which will connect religiosity and it is pure, mundane words cannot satisfy Him. *Sattvaik* means full of knowledge, names of Lord, His activities, His quality, His family.
> General public do not know secret of this and they do not realize importance of this, without fallowing this path they becomes demon *māyayāpahṛta-jñānā*. This kind of knowledge, scientist or so called scientist they could not realize, other day at Madras I asked one scientist that your scientific process saying mixing of hydrogen and oxygen becomes water. This vast huge ocean how many tons of hydrogen and oxygen it requires and who had supplied? Where this water appeared? Do you have any evidence? He is just keep quit.

**[1974: Morning Walk](spoken/1974/740312mw.vrn)**
> *...taranti te. Mām eva ye prapadyante māyām etāṁ taranti te.* In India the, the *brāhmaṇa* class, they say, "Oh, I am born in *brāhmaṇa* family. Why shall I do this work?" You see? Therefore the whole society has gone to hell. In your country still, they accept any kind of work. It doesn't matter. And here in India, if he happens to be a *brāhmaṇa,* he'll not take any kind of work. Means... Just like plowing. He'll not agree. Therefore so much land. The *kṣatriya* is thinking, "I am *kṣatriya.*" The *brāhmaṇa* is thinking, "I am *brāhmaṇa.*" And the land is lying fallow. There is no production. He will go to the office and fight with the pen as a *kṣatriya.* And instead of studying *Vedas,* he'll study the rules and regulation given by the office. But he'll not come to plow. Therefore this scarcity of food. He'll go to a mill to work as ordinary laborer.* [Hindi] He'll not come. So much land we see lying unutilized. And they're crying for grain. Why? The same example. I was writing that in New York City, the whole city is full of dirty things, garbage, for want of cleaner, and you go to the Central Park, you'll find so many hippies are lying down idle.
> So in our Society, this division should be there. The most intelligent class of men, they should be engaged in preaching, reading books and instructing, taking care of Deity worship, temple, and another class should be strong managers, that things are going on nicely, everyone is engaged, not that eating and sleeping. Everyone must be engaged, employed. So, so if one is very much adapted for eating and sleeping, he should be engaged with plows. You see? He must be activity. Otherwise, there must be dysentery, eating and sleeping. He cannot digest. Yes. So in this way, our Society should be managed. Not that "Give me second initiation, a sacred thread," and after getting it, business finished: "Now I'm liberated. Let me eat and sleep." This should be stopped. We have got fifty *bighās* of land, and I have calculated in Māyāpur, setting aside twenty *bighās* for the temple and grazing ground for the cow, thirty *bighās* of land. The production should be three hundred *maunds* of grains. And three hundred *maunds* of grain, I have calculated... How much you can...?

**[1975: Departure Lecture](spoken/1975/750312dp.lon)**
> Therefore in the *Bhagavad-gītā* it is said, *yānti deva-vratā devān .* You have to qualify yourself to enter into such planets. They are called heavenly planets. You cannot enter by force. Therefore we are conditioned. We are not free. We are conditioned. We should always remember that we are conditioned by the material nature. We cannot... We are not free. We are not independent. That we are forgetting. At the present moment the trained-up civilization is that everyone is thinking that he is independent, he can do whatever he likes, he can manufacture his own process of religious principles. These, I mean to say, maddened ideas are there. No. Religious principle you cannot manufacture. Just like law. You cannot say that "I will manufacture my own law." No. That is not possible. Law means state's law, and you have to abide by that. That is law. You cannot avoid it. You cannot say that "I won't accept the state laws. I will make my own laws." That is not possible. *Dharmaṁ tu sākṣād bhagavat-praṇītam*. Dharma* means the laws and the regulation given by God. That is *dharma.* Therefore Kṛṣṇa said, *sarva-dharmān parityajya mām ekaṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja*. This is real *dharma.* And *Bhāgavata* says, *dharmaḥ projjhita-kaitavaḥ atra:* "In the *Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam* all cheating types of religious principle is rejected."
> The real *dharma* is to surrender to Kṛṣṇa. That is real *dharma.* And any religion which does not teach this principle, to surrender to God, Kṛṣṇa, and love Him... That is real religion. Therefore *Bhāgavata* teaches that real religion, *Bhāgavata-dharma.* And *Bhāgavata* declares in the beginning that "All cheating type of religious system is rejected, kicked out." *Projjhita. Projjhita* means just like you wash your floor or sweep your floor and collect the dust and throw it away, similarly, in the *Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam* the unwanted so-called religious system, they have been collected and thrown away. Here in the *Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam* there is only one religious system, which is spoken in the *Bhagavad-gītā* in the last chapter, Eighteenth Chapter, that *sarva-dharmān parityajya mām ekaṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja*. If we accept this principle, then we enter into the *Bhāgavata-dharma.* Otherwise there is no entrance in the *Bhāgavata-dharma.*

**[1976: Morning Walk](spoken/1976/760312mw.may)**
> That is the... *Ārādhito yadi haris tapasā tataḥ kim* [Nārada Pañcarātra*1.2.6]: "If Kṛṣṇa is served, then where is the necessity of *tapasya*?" No more *tapasya. Tapasyā* is meant for the third-grade men to come to the stage of serving Kṛṣṇa. And one who is, with heart and soul, is serving Kṛṣṇa, he has finished all *tapasya. Tepus tapas te juhuvuḥ sasnur ārya*. They have already finished all this *tapasya.* Therefore they have come to this stage. *Kṛta-punya-punjaḥ*. What is called? Piling.
>Mahāprabhu, He immediately gives how to love and serve Kṛṣṇa. Because this Kali-yuga, they will not be able to follow the regulative principles and become elevated. So He is therefore *mahā-vadānyāya.* He is giving a process—immediately, if followed, he becomes a lover of Kṛṣṇa and His service, immediately. *Namo mahā-vadānyāya kṛṣṇa-prema-pradāya te*.

**[1976: Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 7.9.34](spoken/1976/760312sb.may)**
> And Kṛṣṇa confirms it. Not only your contemplation; Kṛṣṇa says, *tathā dehāntara-prāptiḥ* : "In this way you'll have another body." The Kṛṣṇa, the great authority, He says, from whom Brahmā, the first creature, he learned. *Tene brahma hṛdā ādi-kavaye*. Kṛṣṇa, Vāsudeva—*oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya—*He... *Tene brahma hṛdā ādi-kavaye.* He taught this Vedic literature to the heart of Brahmā. He can teach you through the heart also, because He is sitting there. *Īśvaraḥ sarva-bhūtānāṁ hṛd-deśe*. A particularly mention, *hṛd-deśe,* "within the core of the heart." He doesn't say that "Īśvara is situated on your finger." No. Within the heart. The particular place is mentioned. Therefore the *yogīs'* practice, real *yoga* practice, means to find out Kṛṣṇa within the heart. That is real *yoga. Dhyānāvasthita-tad-gatena manasā paśyanti yaṁ yoginaḥ*.
> Kṛṣṇa says, "He's first-class *yogī*." Who? "Who is always trying to see Kṛṣṇa within the heart." So it is very difficult task? In our *bhakti-yoga* we can teach this art of seeing Kṛṣṇa within the core of the heart in one minute. It is so simple. You are seeing Kṛṣṇa here. You must have impression and try to keep that impression within your heart always. Then you become first-class *yogī*. Why so much gymnastic and pressing the nose? [laughter] No. Take directly. If you are engaged twenty-four hours in the service of the Deity, you cannot see except the Deity. This *bhakti-yoga* practice is so simple. Therefore *kaniṣṭha adhikārī,* those who are neophyte, they must take to Deity worship. By Deity worship he is elevated to the position of seeing the Lord within the heart. This is very important thing. You can see—He is there—but you have no knowledge, or even if you have knowledge, you are not competent to see Him. But if you practice Deity worship... Therefore it is the duty of *guru *to engage the neophyte devotee always in Deity worship.
