## Spoken on February 29
*Lectures from this day: 4 recordings*

**[1972: Gaura-Pūrṇimā](spoken/1972/720229gp.may)**
> Bahya* means—external; and *abhyantaram*—internal; both of them, one should always keep purified, cleansed, *bahyābhyantaraḥ. Bahya* means—externally; so we should take regular bath three times with soap, oil or even if one cannot get soap. Then ordinary dirt he can smear over the body and become fresh. Cleanse the teeth, cleanse hands, legs, no nails, these are the cleanliness. "Cleanliness is next to godliness," unless you cleanse yourself outwardly externally, you cannot be purified internally. And internally purified means always chanting, *Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa*, so keep yourself always cleansed by *bahyābhyantaram*.
> (2) To consider the names of demigods like Lord Śiva or Lord Brahmā to be equal to or independent of the name of Lord Viṣṇu. Sometimes the atheistic class of men take it that any demigod is as good as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Viṣṇu. But one who is a devotee knows that no demigod however great he may be, is independently as good as the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Therefore if someone thinks that he can chant "Kālī, Kālī!" or "Durgā, Durgā!" and it is the same as Hare Kṛṣṇa, that is the greatest offense.

**[1972: Third Talk with Bob Cohen [Brahmatīrtha dāsa](spoken/1972/720229ta.may)**
> You must remember Kṛṣṇa, that "Kṛṣṇa, it is Your creation, so kindly allow me to drink it." This is honesty. This is honesty. Therefore a devotee always thinks of Kṛṣṇa in all activities: "Oh, it is Kṛṣṇa's." *Sarvatra sphuraya tara iṣṭa-deva mūrti.* This is honesty. [speaks with someone in Bengali] So without Kṛṣṇa consciousness, everyone is a rascal, is a thief, is a rogue, is a robber—these qualifications. Therefore our conclusion is anyone who does not understand Kṛṣṇa, he has no good qualification. Neither he's honest, neither he has knowledge. Therefore he's a third-class man. Is that correct? What do you think, Girirāja?
> If this education is given and people takes this knowledge, there is peace, *śāntim ṛcchati.* Immediately there is peace. This is knowledge. And if anyone follows this principle, he's honest. He does not claim, "It is mine." He everything knows it is Kṛṣṇa's, so therefore everything should be utilized for Kṛṣṇa's service. That is honesty. If this pencil belongs to me, the etiquette is... Just like my students sometimes do: "Can I use this pencil?" "Yes." This is etiquette. I say, "Yes, you can." Similarly, if I know that everything belongs to Kṛṣṇa, without His permission I'll not use. That is honesty. And that is knowledge.

**[1976: Morning Walk [Partially Recorded](spoken/1976/760229mw.may)**
> Lakṣmī should be engaged in the service of Nārāyaṇa. At the present moment, Lakṣmī is under the clutches of Rāvaṇa, *rākṣasa.* So it should be delivered, Hanumānji. So I am trying for that purpose, to deliver Sītā from the clutches of Rāvaṇa. That is my mission.

**[1976: Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 7.9.22](spoken/1976/760229sb.may)**
> Therefore Prahlāda Mahārāja is regretting, *niṣpīḍyamānam:* "I am being crushed by this time factor." But we are thinking, "It is all right." This is called ignorance. We are being crushed under this time factor, the wheel, time wheel, with sixteen spokes, senses. *Manaḥ-ṣaṣṭhānīndriyāṇi prakṛti-sthāni karṣati, mamaivāṁśo jīva-bhūta*.* "These living entities," Kṛṣṇa said, "they are My part and parcel." So they should remain with Him just like the fire and the spark. Unfortunately, we have fallen down. And the result is *niṣpīḍyamāna,* being crushed. So if one is serious to be saved from this crushing process of time factor, then they should learn from Prahlāda Mahārāja. *Mahājano yena gataḥ sa panthāḥ*.
> Although *prakṛti* is acting so wonderfully, very, very, I mean to say, great task she is performing, that immediately the cloud comes. Now it is so bright. Within a second a very big, dark cloud may come and cause devastation immediately. That is possible. These are the wonderful activities of *māyā*. But still, she is under the control of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. We see this sun so big, fourteen hundred thousand times bigger than this earth, and you see morning, how quickly it gets up, like this, immediately. The speed is sixteen thousand miles per second. So how it is being happened? *Yasyājñayā bhramati saṁbhṛta-kāla-cakro govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajā... *[Bs. 5.52]. It is being done under the order of Govinda. So therefore He's *vibhu.* He is great. But we do not know how great He is. Therefore we foolishly accept some pretender, some fraud, as God. We do not know what is the meaning of God. But it is going on. We are fools. *Andhā yathāndhair upanīyamānās.* We are blind, and another blind man leads us: "I am God. You are God. Everyone is God." But God is not like that.
