# February 16 ## Spoken on February 16 *Lectures from this day: 9 recordings* --- **[1969: Bhagavad-gītā 6.13–15 [Sāṅkhya Yoga System](spoken/1969/690216bg.la)** > Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: "The kingdom of God is everywhere, but the spiritual sky and the planets thereof are called *param-dhama,* or superior abodes."Prabhupā Yes. This material world is also God's creation. This is also God's kingdom. But because we have forgotten God—we have made "God is dead"—therefore it has become hell. But if we accept God, oh, it becomes spiritual world, automatically. Therefore this temple is spiritual world. It is not material world. It is above the material world. > Ahaṁ bīja-pradaḥ pitā*. In the Fourteenth Chapter you'll see that originally the seed was given by Kṛṣṇa in the womb of this material nature, and so many living entities are coming out. You cannot argue against it, because actually the generation is the same process as in our practical life: we see the father gives the seed in the womb of the mother, and the mother, I mean to say, nourishes the child to grow body. So there is no question of void. If the seed would have been void, how this nice body has developed? --- **[1971: Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 6.154](spoken/1971/710216cc.gor)** > To approach Kṛṣṇa is not very easy job, because Kṛṣṇa says in the *Bhagavad-gītā, manuṣyāṇāṁ sahasreṣu kaścid yatati siddhaye yatatām api siddhānām . Koṭiṣv api mahā-mune*. That is also stated in the *Padma Purāṇa,* that *muktānām api siddhānām.* Those who are *muktas...* To become *mukta,* that is also difficult job. Out of many millions of *jñānīs,* one becomes *mukta,* really liberated. And out of many millions of *muktas,* or liberated, *kaścid vetti māṁ tattvataḥ, kaścid,* not all, somebody may understand what is Kṛṣṇa. So it is so difficult job. > Lord Caitanya is Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa says that *sarva-dharmān parityajya mām ekaṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja*. People misunderstood. Therefore Caitanya came. He took *sannyāsa* so that... It is the custom in our country that a *sannyāsī* is offered respect. That is our Vedic system. If one does not show any respect to a *sannyāsī,* he has to fast one day. That is the injunction. Still, India, they do not disrespect a *sannyāsī,* although many so-called *sannyāsīs,* they are taking advantage of this. That is another subject. So Caitanya Mahāprabhu accepted *sannyāsa* so that people may respect Him. And simply by respecting Him, he'll be liberated. He is so kind. --- **[1971: Lecture at ŚrīKṛṣṇa-niketana](spoken/1971/710216le.gor)** > We should always know our position, how much we are ignorant. I am claiming I am the... "It is *my* body." How your nails are growing, can you explain? Why there is no sensation in the nail? So many things you are unaware, even of your body. So how you can be aware that how your body is changing? You have to learn, therefore, from authorities, "It is being done." Just like Kṛṣṇa says, *dehino 'smin yathā dehe kaumāra...*.* > Therefore it is stated here, *harer adbhuta-karmaṇaḥ, janma-karma-guṇānāṁ ca tad-arthe akhila-ceṣṭitam ity adi asmin eva purāṇe tatra tatra pathyate. Janma-karma-guṇānāṁ ca.* Hearing about Kṛṣṇa, about Kṛṣṇa's appearance, His so-called *janma... Janma* means birth. So Kṛṣṇa is unborn. He is *nityo nityānām*. He's... Just like we have no *janma,* we have no appearance. It is simply change of dress. It is not death. As it is explained in the *Bhagavad-gītā,* that *vāsāṁsi jīrṇāni yathā vihāya* —if I change my dress, that is not my death. --- **[1972: Room Conversation in Hindi](spoken/1972/720216r1.mad)** > This is the subject matter of our preaching we do it ourselves and we request you all, to engage in this *kirtan* and take advantage of it. Now if anyone of you has a question.. --- **[1973: Bhagavad-gītā 7.1 Engagement](spoken/1973/730216bg.syd)** > You will find the picture of Kṛṣṇa. Here is Kṛṣṇa's picture, and there are many other pictures also. Here is also. He's attractive to the animals, He's attractive to the trees, He's attractive to the flowers, He's attractive to the water, and what to speak of human being. He's attractive; therefore His name is Kṛṣṇa. *Kṛṣṇa* means all-attractive. So if any suitable name can be assigned to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, it is *Kṛṣṇa.* That is the verdict of the Vedic literature. Now Kṛṣṇa says, "If you develop your attachment for Me,'' *mayy āsakta-manaḥ pārtha*, "My dear Arjuna...'' *Mayy āsakta-manaḥ pārtha yogaṁ yuñjan mad-āśrayaḥ*. It is a *yoga, yoga* system. > Now that loving propensity can attain its perfection, and as soon as you reach that perfectional point, you become happy. This is the formula for happiness. Everyone is trying to become happy, peaceful. That peacefulness, that happiness can be attained only when you increase your attachment or love for the Supreme Personality of Godhead. This is the meaning of Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement. We are not teaching any kind of faith. There are many different types of faith, so..., but unfortunately, maybe due to the slackness of this movement, of religious movement, people have lost all faith in religious movement. Maybe there are many reasons. But it cannot be left aside. You cannot give up. If you want actually peace of the mind, peace of your self, then you must try to love God. That is the only way. *Sa vai puṁsām paro dharmo*. --- **[1975: Bhagavad-gītā 2.16 [with Spanish translator](spoken/1975/750216bg.mex)** > > nāsato vidyate bhāvo > nābhāvo vidyate sataḥ > ubhayor api dṛṣṭo 'ntas > tv anayos tattva-darśibhiḥ > [[bg/2/16|[Bg. 2.16] ]] So we are discussing about the soul and the body for the last four days. Now it is being concluded—not concluded; further informed—that *tattva-darśibhiḥ. --- **[1976: Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 7.9.9](spoken/1976/760216sb.may)** > This Rūpa Gosvāmī gave up this aristocratic position. Because he was minister, his connection with big, big *zamindars,* [landlords] big, big businessmen, big, big Nawabs, [kings] he could not mix with ordinary men. But he gave up everything. The same example, as Prahlāda Mahārāja says, *abhijana*—"These are useless." So Rūpa Gosvāmī gave example, *tyaktvā tū*rṇam* aśeṣa-maṇḍala-pati-sreṇīṁ sadā tucchavat. > "Eh... It has no value, insignificant." Gave up. The same line... This is called disciplic succession. Many millions of years, the Prahlāda Mahārāja said that *abhijana:* "By these things you cannot achieve the platform of devotional service." And many, many millions of years after, so Rūpa Gosvāmī, Sanātana Gosvāmī also showed the same example, *tyaktvā tūrṇam aśeṣa-maṇḍala-pati-sreṇīṁ sadā tucchavat.* This is called *paramparā* system. Not that millions of years ago Prahlāda Mahārāja, what he did, that is now gone; now something new should be introduced. No, it cannot be changed even millions of years after. This is called *paramparā* system. Kṛṣṇa said, "Millions of years ago I spoke this *Bhagavad-gītā yoga* process to sun-god." *Imaṁ vivasvate yogaṁ proktavān aham*. The same *aham,* Kṛṣṇa, He spoke millions and trillions of years ago to sun-god. So nothing new. Kṛṣṇa consciousness is not a new, manufactured method. No. It is the oldest. > This is education. Where is that education? *Mātṛvat para-dāreṣu:* all women mother. Where is that education? There is no education. Therefore in this age practically everyone is a *mūḍha,* not educated. He does not know how to look upon woman. Woman should be looked as mother. Still in India, a unknown woman should be addressed, "Mother." They have introduced now in the northern India, *bahinjī* [sister]. No, this was not the etiquette. "*Mātājī.*" This is Indian culture, not *bahinjī.* This has been introduced now. No. *Mātrā svasrā duhitrā vā*. Woman's connection with man is as mother, as sister or as daughter. No other relationship. This is Indian culture. --- **[1977: Room Conversation](spoken/1977/770216r2.may)** > We have nothing to give up like Māyāvādī—*kāma, krodha, lobha, moha, mātsarya*. [*Prema-bhakti-candrika*, Song 3, stanza 9.] *Mātsarya* not... That has to be... A *bhakta* cannot be envious. If a *bhakta* is angry upon them, that is not envious; that is for good. A *bhakta* should not be envious. Otherwise how he can preach? He's merciful. Even if he's angry, it is mercy. Therefore this *mātsarya* has no use for *bhakta*. Other things, they have use: *kāma, krodha, lobha, moha*. Not *mātsarya*. *Mātsarya* is very bad. --- ## Letters on February 16 *Letters from this day: 30* --- **[1966: Letter to Mr. Dharwarkar](letters/1966/660216_mr._dharwarkar)** > Due to my absence from India the printing works are suspended and now I wish to begin it again on hearing from you.
