## Spoken on February 13
*Lectures from this day: 7 recordings*

**[1969: Bhagavad-gītā 6.1 [Sāṅkhya Yoga System](spoken/1969/690213bg.la)**
> Vāyor iva suduṣkaram.* This very example he has given. *Cañcalaṁ hi manaḥ kṛṣṇa pramāthi balavad dṛḍham* : "My dear Kṛṣṇa, You are asking me to control the mind. It is so powerful, and restless, I think to control the mind is as good as to control the air." If there is high wind, can you control it? He gives this example. You can control the mind when you fix up the mind in Kṛṣṇa's lotus feet. That's all. No nonsense can come within your mind; simply Kṛṣṇa. That is perfection of meditation.
> Here in the material world I am spirit soul. I am different from this body, because this body is matter and I am living. I am living force, but this material body is not living force. And in the spiritual world there is everything living force. There is no dead matter. Therefore the body is also spiritual. Just like water with water—water, that's all. But water and oil—distinction. Similarly, I am spirit soul; I am the oil. So I am in the water, so there is distinction. But if I am put into the oil, then everything's all right.

**[1971: Engagement in Hindi](spoken/1971/710213le.gor)**
> None of the *ācāryas*, the spiritual teachers, recommend that one should live int his world comfortably. This is not factual, in the *Bhagavad-gītā* the same thing has been said when Kṛṣṇa says *yad gatvā na nivartante tad dhāma paramaṁ mama*, to go to that place from where one has not to come back, that is my Supreme Abode. So, in every way God is taking care of us. just like if someone's child loses his mind and leaves home, this puts the parents in great distress. Oh, my child has left home, where is he staying, where is he eating, he must be wandering here and there. If somehow or other if the child can come back home, it shall delight his parents. Therefore, it is not the goal of performing devotional service to attain some worldly pleasure. This is an illusion. There are so many people who go the temples and churches and mosques with such a desire.
> Then gradually you will come to the realization that Kṛṣṇa is sitting within your heart and if you surrender unto Him, and continue chanting His holy name without offence then Kṛṣṇa, sitting within one's heart who Himself says *teṣāṁ satata-yuktānāṁ bhajatāṁ prīti-pūrvakam dadāmi buddhi-yogaṁ taṁ*, those who perform devotional service with love and intelligence, to them Kṛṣṇa sitting within their heart gives intelligence, *buddhi yoga*, and what is this *buddhi yoga*? *Yena mam upayanti te*, *buddhi yoga* which is same as *bhakti yoga* for which Kṛṣṇa says *yena mām upayānti te*, by which one goes back to Kṛṣṇa. So, this is the only means to go Back to Godhead *bhaktyā mām abhijānāti*, only the path of devotional service *bhakti*, not by *karma*, *jnana* or *yoga* can one attain Kṛṣṇa. It is possible to attain some material prowess by such methods but if one wishes to attain God, then just like He says *bhaktyā mām abhijānāti yāvān yaś cāsmi tattvataḥ*, those who are performing devotional service and have acceptegd devotional service, only such devotees can know me in essence and all those who are *jnanis* and *yogis* they will never be able to understand Kṛṣṇa. Therefore, according to the scriptures it is required from the human beings to choose this path for we not know what kind of body we will get after this human life. If according to our karma we get a body different from that within the human society, just like it has been said *Jalaja nava laksani sthavara laksya vimsati*, their eighty four *lakh* species, if one goes within that cycle then the human form of life which has been received we have wasted it, missed the opportunity. Such kind of behavior is not considered appropriate.

**[1974: Bhagavad-gītā 4.5](spoken/1974/740213bg.vrn)**
> So that is the difference; that is the difference—because He does not change His form. You can understand very easily: we forget because we change our bodies. Our yesterday's body and today's body, not the same. Then how we are getting old? If my yesterday's body is the same as today's body, then how I can be called getting old? So we are changing body every moment; that is scientific, medical science. So because we are changing body, therefore we forget, and Kṛṣṇa says, *tāny ahaṁ veda sarvāṇi* : but He remembers, or He knows everything as it is; therefore He does not change. Where is the difficulty to understand between Kṛṣṇa's body and my body?
> Here it is said that "My dear Arjuna, you are My personal associate. You and Me, both of us, we are check every time body, or transmigrated," but Kṛṣṇa is Paramātmā. Ātmā and Paramātmā, they live together, so when the ātmā changes body, Paramātmā also changes body—but He remains in His own body. He goes with the *ātmā*, but He does not change His body. But the change of body is of the *jivātmā*. *Vāsāṁsi jīrṇāni yathā vihāya*. Therefore He remembers. This is the simple logic. Kṛṣṇa says that tāny ahaṁ veda sarvāṇi: "I remember." Because his question was that,

> Guest (1): Mahārāja is teaching—you asked his teaching—these things are the same really, I, things that he's told me. But he said that the whole universe was God, and that you should never hurt anyone, that you should serve...
> Guest (1):...the *māyā,* the *māyā* of God makes..., makes a man identify himself with his body. But it is..., that's an illusion, and it's God's play that sometimes..., it's God's play that sometimes a man ignorantly identifies himself with the body, and through God's grace the bonds of ignorance are..., he is released from the bonds of ignorance through God's grace.

**[1974: Room Conversation Dr. Kapoor](spoken/1974/740213r2.vrn)**
> Dr. Kapoor: And people are really astounded to see *śraddhā*, especially *śraddhā* and *guru* in your disciples. That is the one thing that is clear to everybody.
> Dr. Kapoor:...struck against our car, you see, and the car bounced, it jumped. It's about four or five feet from the ground, and it fell upside down, and there was not a scratch, I tell you. Not one of us was hurt. Not one of us. And a car out on the roadside, so he and one passenger, they were both killed.

> But if there's strong sense of Krishna Consciousness, this distinction of material world will disappear in spiritual light. Anyway, so far you are concerned, I have received letter from Acyutananda which reads as follows about yourself: "Yamuna and Gurudasa are welcomed and they may come soon so I must have your decision." So you can prepare yourself for going there and keeping correspondence with Acyutananda, so that as soon as the house is settled there you can go with a car.
