The meaning of this verse is that I am just now following the footsteps of previous *ācāryas*. To accept *sannyāsa* so that I can completely devote myself in the service of Mukunda. Mukunda means one who can give liberation. *Mukti muk* means *mukti* liberation. So Kṛṣṇa's name is Mukunda. He can give actually liberation otherwise there is no question of liberation.
To accept the [indistinct]. This *mantra* was previously chanted by Lord Caitanya when He took *sannyāsa*. Therefore we Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava's when we accept *sannyāsa* we follow the footsteps of Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu. The narration is in the *Caitanya-caritāmṛta* that Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu when he completed his twenty fourth year of age, *cabbiśa vatsara-śeṣa yei māgha-māsa* [[cc/madhya/3/3|[Cc. Madhya 3.3] ]].

**Prabhupāda:** It does not go into his mind, that is why, they say God is formless, they have less intelligence, that is why they are not able to understand, that is why God says,
Even after acquiring perfection, they are not able to understand, that Krsna is God Himself, it is very difficult, that is why God Himself is coming and explaining. So by mercy of God everything is understood in its right perspective otherwise even after acquiring ordinary perfections nothing could be understood, just like, in *Brahma Samhita*,
Big Big, *muni punga*, not ordinary philosophers, best of all philosophers, pungam, pungam means great, very great, they also could not understand God, without God's mercy nobody can understand God and in other places God has mentioned, *bhaktyā mām abhijānāti* [[bg/18/55|[Bg. 18.55] ]], the method to understand God is this devotional service, nothing else, not mental speculation, not fruitive work, not yoga, by these methods nobody can understand God, that is why God says, *manuṣyāṇāṁ sahasreṣu kaścid yatati siddhaye.* What is the use of achieving yoga perfections, you can acquire yoga perfections, that you fly in the air, this is yoga perfection, *lagima siddhi* and show some magic, you can do all these things by yoga perfection, but with that you cannot understand God, that is not possible, you can talk big big things about knowledge, this is Brahman, this is not Brahman, but through that you will not be able to understand God, this is mentioned by God Himself

**Prabhupāda:** [indistinct] unpopularity. There was monarchy. The kings were very responsible. Therefore the kings were known as *rājarṣi*. *Rājarṣi*, *rāja ṛṣi.* *Rājarṣi*, this is compound word. [indistinct] king supervising the administration of the state, still his character was just like a *ṛṣi*, a saintly person, great sage. That was the qualification of the king. Therefore...
Also Vedic civilization, even up to Mahārāja Parīkṣit, the government was monarchy. At the present moment, practically all monarchical state is abolished. Even there is some monarchy... Formerly... [indistinct] just like in England, the Queen, she is powerless. Actually, the Queen has no power. People have taken away the power.
Here also there is the [indistinct] Mahārāja, Jaipur. Actually, they are the owner of the state, Jaipur state, the old state, at least five hundred years old, this state. [indistinct] It is the kingdom of Mahārāja Mansingh, former Mansingh, who was commander-in-chief of Emperor Akbar. [indistinct] But now they have no power. The people have taken away the power.

**Devotee:** Well, it's just actually become an expression of greeting. Literally, of course, it means that "I am pleased to see you, happy to meet you. Good morning."
**Satsvarūpa:** In English when we say "Goodbye," that means "God be with you." Some God consciousness.
**Prabhupāda:** "Good morning" means... Because it is English word... In England every morning is bad morning, because it is cloud. When they see one day that cloud is clear, they say, "Good morning."* [*japa] [break] ...similarly, a good soul means when there is no *māyā,* then he's good soul.

**Translation:** "The so-called administrators are now bewildered by the influence of this Age of Kali, and thus they have put all state affairs into disorder. Are you now lamenting this disorder? Now the general populace does not follow the rules and regulations for eating, sleeping, drinking, mating, etc., and they are inclined to perform such anywhere and everywhere. Are you unhappy because of this?"
**Prabhupāda:** So *śrīmad-bhāgavatam amalaṁ purāṇam.* The study of *Bhāgavatam* means complete knowledge. This is the mature contribution of Vyāsadeva to the human society. *Lokasyājānato vidvāṁś cakre sātvata-saṁhitām* [[sb/1/7/6|[SB. 1.7.6] ]].* Before writing, by the instruction of his spiritual master, Vyāsadeva meditated in *bhakti-yoga.*

"The characteristics of water are exhibited by its moistening other substances, coagulating various mixtures, causing satisfaction, maintaining life, softening things, driving away heat, incessantly supplying itself to reservoirs of water, and refreshing by slaking thirst."
**Prabhupāda:** > kledanaṁ piṇḍanaṁ tṛptiḥ > prāṇanāpyāyanondanam > tāpāpanodo bhūyastvam > ambhaso vṛttayas tu imāḥ > [[sb/3/26/43|[SB. 3.26.43] ]]

**Madhudviṣa:** ...*Bhāgavatam* you say that we should greet the sun with the verse from *Gāyatrī mantra.* Does that means we should wait for sunrise to say our *Gāyatrī*? Just as the sun is rising, we should say the *Gāyatrī.*
**Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:** Sometimes we take bath before sunrise and put on *tilaka.* Should the *mantra* be said at that time, after putting on *tilaka*? Or should we wait and then say it...
**Jayapatākā:** Śrīla Prabhupāda? Would it be nice to have lampposts here? Little lampposts to light the road?

**[[spoken/760118r1.may|Room Conversation — January 18, 1976, Māyāpur]]**
**Prabhupāda:** ...Viśvanātha Cakravartī has discussed. The Kṛṣṇa consciousness is so easy: *man-manā bhava mad-bhakto,* four principles. * [[bg/18/65|[Bg. 18.65] ]] Why people do not take to it? [background talking] Hmm? What is that?
**Prabhupāda:** *Śrīmad-bhāgavata-dharma* is for the person who is not jealous. *Paramo nirmatśarāṇāṁ* [[sb/1/1/2|[SB. 1.1.2] ]]. This very word is used in the beginning, that "This *bhāgavata-dharma* is meant for persons who is not jealous." Otherwise the material whole world is full of jealousy. Even during the time of Kṛṣṇa there was Paundra, out of jealousy. And there were so many. Beginning from Kṛṣṇa's birth the *asuras, they* were jealous: "How to kill Kṛṣṇa." This is the whole mat... Even in the higher planetary system the jealousy is there, *asuras* and the *devas,**devāsura.* So our business is, as instructed by Caitanya Mahāprabhu, *tṛṇād api sunīcena taror api sahiṣṇunā.* This jealousy will go on. Therefore one has to learn how to tolerate jealousy. *Kīrtaniyaḥ sadā hariḥ* [*Cc Ādi* 17.31].
If one wants to push on this *saṅkīrtana* movement... Prabhupāda... We are insignificant creature. So many persons. You cannot avoid it. The best way is to learn how to tolerate. That is very nice. Otherwise Caitanya Mahāprabhu not have said *taror api sahiṣṇunā.* That is the best. So we are not like Caitanya Mahāprabhu, neither like Prabhupāda, and we shall have to learn to tolerate.
