**Prabhupāda:** > buddhir jñānam asammohaḥ > kṣamā satyaṁ damaḥ śamaḥ > sukhaṁ duḥkhaṁ bhavo 'bhāvo > bhayaṁ cābhayam eva ca > [[bg/10/4|[Bg. 10.4] ]]
So we have to understand these qualifications. Intelligence. *Buddhiḥ* means intelligence. *Jñānam* means knowledge. *Asammohaḥ* means freedom from illusion. *Kṣamā. Kṣamā,* forgiveness; *satyam,* truth. *Damaḥ. Damaḥ* means controlling the senses, and *samaḥ,* to keep the mind equibalanced. *Sukham* means happiness; *duḥkham,* distress. *Bhava* means birth.
*Abhāva. Abhāva* means death. *Bhayam,* fear, and *abhayam,* fearlessness. *Ahiṁsā,* nonviolence; *samatā,* equality; *tuṣṭiḥ,* satisfaction; *tapaḥ,* penance; *dānam,* charity; *yaśaḥ,* fame; *ayaśaḥ,* defamation; *bhavanti,* all these become, *bhāvāḥ... Bhāva* means state of being. *Bhūtānām,* of all living entities; *mattaḥ,* from Me; *eva,* certainly; *pṛthag-vidhāḥ,* differently. Because Kṛṣṇa has declared already, *aham ādir hi devānām*, *maharṣīṇāṁ ca sarvasya* [[bg/10/2|[Bg. 10.2] ]].

**Prabhupāda:** > kṛṣṇe jānāñā dvārī brahmāre lañā gelā > kṛṣṇera caraṇe brahmā daṇḍavat kailā > [[cc/madhya/21/62|[Cc. Madhya 21.62] ]]
So we have been discussing, yesterday, Brahmā visiting Kṛṣṇa as four-headed Brahmā. He was little proud that "I am the original, first creature of this universe. I have got four heads, four hands." The material nature, the influence of material nature, is like that. Even Brahmā, who is supposed to be in full knowledge of Vedic literature...
He is the father of Vedic literature. He handed over the *Vedas* to Nārada. Still, that *ahaṅkāra,* "I am something," is there even in Brahmā, and what to speak of ordinary living entities like us. This material conception of life is like that: "I am" and "mine." *Ahaṁ..., ahaṁ mameti* [[sb/5/5/8|[SB. 5.5.8] ]].

"Whenever and wherever there is a decline in religious practice, O descendant of Bhārata, and a predominant rise of irreligion—at that time I descend Myself." Purport.
When God comes or His representative comes, His servant comes, or His son comes, there is necessity. Because it is God's kingdom, as soon as there is too much violation of the laws of God, there will be appearance of God.

**Prabhupāda:** > evaṁ te bhagavad-dūtā > yamadūtābhibhāṣitam > upadhāryātha tān rājan > pratyāhur naya-kovidāḥ > [[sb/6/2/1|[SB. 6.2.1] ]]
So the speeches of the Yamadūta, assistants of Yamarāja, was thus finished, argument. The argument was that "This man, Ajāmila, born of a *brāhmaṇa* father, although acquired all qualification... He was qualified *brāhmaṇa,* not simply born of a *brāhmaṇa* father, but qualified *brāhmaṇa,* with full knowledge of Vedic instruction, nice character, very gentle and silent, and offering respects to elderly persons, spiritual master, father.
In this way he was perfect *brāhmaṇa.* But due to his contact with a prostitute he lost his all good qualification. And later on, he had to earn money by hook and crook, and thus he degraded more and more, and therefore his sinful activities are now responsible for his punishment, and we shall take him to the court of Yamarāja." That was the summary of the speech of the Yamadūta. *Evaṁ te bhagavad-dūtā yamadūtābhibhāṣitam.*

**Pradyumna:** "As far as material necessities are concerned, the human civilization at the present moment is very much advanced in living comfortably, but still we are not happy because we are missing the point. The material comforts of life alone are not sufficient to make us happy.
The vivid example is America: the richest nation of the world, having all facilities for material comfort, is producing a class of men completely confused and frustrated in life. I am appealing herewith to such confused men to learn the art of devotional service as directed in *The Nectar of Devotion,* and I am sure that the fire of material existence burning within their hearts will be immediately extinguished.
"The root cause of our dissatisfaction is that our dormant loving propensity has not been fulfilled despite our great advancement in the materialistic way of life. *The Nectar of Devotion* will give us practical hints how we can live in this material world perfectly engaged in devotional service and thus fulfill all our desires in this life and in the next."

"By the transformation of the false ego in passion, intelligence takes birth, O virtuous lady. The functions of the intelligence are to help in ascertaining the nature of objects when they come into view, and to help the senses."
**Prabhupāda:** > taijasāt tu vikurvāṇād > buddhi-tattvam abhūt sati > dravya-sphuraṇa-vijñānam > indriyāṇām anugrahaḥ > [[sb/3/26/29|[SB. 3.26.29] ]]

**Acyutānanda:** It is called *Mahāprabhu sadhana.* It is on record that that is the house where Caitanya Mahaprabhu spent *cātur-māsya.* [break] Yes, he arranged fabulous programs for us. There were almost ten thousand people there.
**Prabhupāda:** So your arrangement was very nice. Thank you. Hmm. Where is that wrapper? These cottages are very nice. [break]
**Acyutānanda:** It's shallow. [break] ...that the Vaiṣṇavas say that the gold ring is smaller in quantity than the gold mine, but the only way in this material world... That is only a material example, because something can be separated from the general mass, because there are many different elements. You can tell the difference between a gold ring and a gold mine because there is air and space. But there is *ekaṁ brahma dvitīyaṁ nāsti,* there is only Brahman, so you cannot say that there is a big Brahman and a part-and-parcel Brahman. The words "part and parcel" you have only written into the *śrutis* for your own...

**Dr. Patel:** In fact, sir, Engel was a spiritualist, and his follower, Karl Marx, became materialist because he saw abject poverty all round, due to the industrial revolution. He thought in that way. He became...
**Prabhupāda:** These rascals will never go to the... *Tad-vijñānārthaṁ sa gurum evābhigacchet* [Muṇḍaka Upaniṣad* 1.2.12].* They do not know this science, these rascals. They manufacture. And we have also learned to manufacture.
**Prabhupāda:** No, no. Western philosophy... We have learned this art, manufacturing. Just like Vinobha Bhāve has proposed: "I want *mukti* not in the traditional way." He'll manufacture his own way. This is his intelligence after eighty-two years or eighty-one years. "Not in the traditional, not in the religious way." Just see. He's still hovering in darkness, and he's going to get *mukti.* This is the position.

**Girirāja:** It didn't seem [indistinct] after two months. So today... Actually I was thinking of phoning his wife, because she was not well. Or one of our ladies could phone her. And then if she's still not well they could go and visit her. And if she is well, they could invite her, and then if she wants to come, then she'll bring him.
**Girirāja:** Yes. So Mohatta says that he's a very rich man, and that man who came, we should approach his older brother, and he says they can give a very big donation. And they can introduce us to other Punjabis.
**Girirāja:** Well, we had a confrontation that they want to make a condition that we have to hand over these ten feet. So I said that this is a separate issue, and one thing had nothing to do with the other. So actually they have accepted all of our arguments. What is boils down is that Mhatre is pressing them, and they must, you know, why they are letting this slide by. So they say they want something to reply to him, so we have to write a letter explaining our case. And...
