# January 5 *Lectures from this day: 9 recordings* --- **[[spoken/670105cc.ny|Cc. Madhya 21.49-61 — January 5, 1967, New York]]** **Prabhupāda:** > goloka-nāmni nija-dhāmni tale ca tasya > devī-maheśa-hari-dhāmasu teṣu teṣu > te te prabhāva-nicayā vihitāś ca yena > govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi > [Bs. 5.43] The *Brahma-saṁhitā,* this *Brahma-saṁhitā* was compiled by Brahmā. It is very old book. It was picked up by Lord Caitanya from South India. When He was traveling in South India, in a temple He found this book, handwritten, very old. Formerly there was no press. If anyone wanted some book, he would have to copy it from others. That was the system. The books were not available just like nowadays we have got printed, thousands and thousands copies. That was not available. So this book was..., two books were collected by Caitanya Mahāprabhu from South India. One book is named *Kṛṣṇa-karṇāmṛta.* That book was written by one of the devotees, very great devotee, Bilvamaṅgala. His life is very interesting. He was too much prostitute-hunter. And in one incidence his kept prostitute gave him instruction, "Oh, you have got so much attraction for this skinny body. If you would have such attraction for Kṛṣṇa, I do not know what you have done." Oh, at once he became, "Yes." This is called reference to the context. --- **[[spoken/730105nd.bom|The Nectar of Devotion — January 5, 1973, Bombay]]** **Pradyumna:** [reading] "...propensity expands just as a vibration of light or air expands, but we do not know where it ends. *The Nectar of Devotion* teaches us the science of loving every one of the living entities perfectly by the easy method of loving Kṛṣṇa. We have failed to create peace and harmony in human society even by such great attempts as the United Nations because we do not know the right method." **Prabhupāda:** Hmm. The example is just like there is air vibration, water vibration, the radio message. In one place the vibration is made, and it goes like waves. It expands. Very quickly, within a second, it expands seven times the earth, so far we have heard. Or if you throw one stone on the lake, they'll become a circle, circle, and the circle expands, unless it goes to the limit. So our loving propensity is there, and it should expand. Ultimately, it should reach the lotus feet of the Lord. Then it will be perfect. So this is being explained. So *nitya-siddha kṛṣṇa-bhakti.* In the *Caitanya-caritāmṛta* it is said, *nitya-siddha kṛṣṇa-bhakti.* Our love for Kṛṣṇa is there already, but it is being choked up by material condition. I want to love, but some blind leader, he comes, he says that "You love your this country, your society, humanity." And you love your society, but you cut throat of another society. This is going on. --- **[[spoken/740105mw.la|Morning Walk — January 5, 1974, Los Angeles]]** **Prabhupāda:** Oh. [break] [indistinct] ...is another plan for wasting time. [devotees laugh] So the material world means they have got different devices for wasting time, not for utilizing time. Is it correct? **Prajāpati:** It is considered one of our major problems, leisure time. People are having more time on their hands, and they do not know what to do with it. So the government, they're scratching their heads inventing things for people to waste their time. **Prabhupāda:**Ah yes. This is the difficulty. *Na te viduḥ svārtha-gatiṁ hi viṣṇum* [[sb/7/5/31|[SB. 7.5.31] ]]. Because they are rascal, they do not know how to utilize time, where is the aim of life, where you have to go. These things, they're unknown. So they must waste time. So it is the... Just like child: he wastes time in so many ways. It is the duty of the parents, guardians, to cr..., I mean to say, synchronize his activities so that he may not waste his time. It is the duty of the guardians. Similarly these rascals, they're wasting time. You have to engage them in Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Then their time will be utilized.
