**Prabhupāda:** > na me viduḥ sura-gaṇāḥ > prabhavaṁ na maharṣayaḥ > aham ādir hi devānāṁ > maharṣīṇāṁ ca sarvaśaḥ > [[bg/10/2|[Bg. 10.2] ]]
So Lord Kṛṣṇa says that nobody knows Him. *Aham ādir hi devānām.* If you... What to speak of the human society, even you take the demigods, who are more intelligent and more advanced than the human society in other planets, they also do not know. And *maharṣayaḥ. Maharṣayaḥ* means that seven great sages. Their planet is near the polestar. You have seen it that like asking questions, seven stars. So these stars are different planets for different great sages. They also do not know.
So, *na me viduḥ sura-gaṇāḥ prabhavaṁ na maharṣayaḥ aham ādir hi devānām* [[bg/10/2|[Bg. 10.2] ]]: "I am the original... I am the source of all these *maharṣayaḥ,* all these demigods." He's the father of everyone. *Maharṣīṇāṁ ca sarvaśaḥ:* "I am not only the origin of these demigods, but I am also the origin of all these great sages." That means He is the origin of this universe. In the *Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam* it is very nicely described how this universal form took place and how Brahmā was created and from Brahmā the *ṛṣis* were created, how population increased generally. These descriptions are there. So actually, He is the origin. *Janmādy asya yataḥ.* As it is said in the *Vedānta-sūtra,* everything is emanating from Him.

**Prabhupāda:** > aiche kṛṣṇera līlā-maṇḍala caudda-manvantare > brahmāṇḍa-maṇḍala vyāpi' krame krame phire > [[cc/madhya/20/391|[Cc. Madhya 20.391] ]]
So we have already discussed how *kṛṣṇa-līlā,* or the pastimes, different manifestation of Kṛṣṇa's pastimes during one hundred and twenty-five years, beginning from His birth up to the disappearance, as many pastimes there are, they are being manifested in some of the universe, out of the innumerable universes.
So God is never dead. Kṛṣṇa is never dead, as some of the modern philosophers, they are putting forward the philosophy of "God is dead." God is dead for those who are following the owl philosophy. Owl has never seen sun, or it does not like to see the sun. Therefore the owl says, "There is no sun." Similarly, the atheistic philosophy is... There are so many logic.

**[[spoken/730102nd.bom|The Nectar of Devotion — January 2, 1973, Bombay]]**
**Pradyumna:** [reading] "The process of devotional service as it is recommended in *The Nectar of Devotion* will gradually elevate one from the material condition of life to the spiritual status, wherein the devotee becomes purified of all designations.
The senses can then become uncontaminated, being constantly in touch with *bhakti-rasa.* When the purified senses are employed in the service of the Lord, one becomes situated in *bhakti-rasa* life, and any action performed for the satisfaction of Kṛṣṇa in this transcendental *bhakti-rasa* stage of life ...
**Prabhupāda:** So *Bhakti-rasāmṛta-sindhu,* Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī is giving us the process how to elevate one's self from this material platform to the spiritual platform. That is devotional service. Devotional life means purifying the present conditional life, contaminated life, life under the influence of the three modes of material nature: *sattva-guṇa, rajo-guṇa, tamo-guṇa.* So if we become unaffected by these three *guṇas...* Just like it is recommended in the *Bhagavad-gītā, trai-guṇya-viṣayā vedā nistrai-guṇya bhavārjuna* [[bg/2/45|[Bg. 2.45] ]].

**Pradyumna:** *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* *Oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya.* [**Prabhupāda and **devotees repeat] [leads chanting of verse, etc.]
**Translation:** "Śaunaka Ṛṣi inquired: Why did Mahārāja Parīkṣit simply punish him, since he was the lowest of the śūdras, having dressed as a king and harmed a cow with his leg? Please describe all these incidences as they relate to the topics of Lord Kṛṣṇa."

**[[spoken/750102sb.bom|SB 3.26.25 — January 2, 1975, Bombay]]**
**Nitāi:** "The threefold ahaṅkāra, the source of the gross elements, the senses and the mind, is hence identical with them because it is their cause. It is known by the name of Saṅkarṣaṇa, who is directly Lord Ananta with a thousand heads."
**Prabhupāda:** > sahasra-śirasaṁ sākṣād > yam anantaṁ pracakṣate > saṅkarṣaṇākhyaṁ puruṣaṁ > bhūtendriya-manomayam > [[sb/3/26/25|[SB. 3.26.25] ]]
So this is the description of quadruple expansion of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. The *advaitam acyutam anādir ananta-rūpam* [Bs. 5.33], how *ananta-rūpam* of Kṛṣṇa is expanded, now this is the beginning of such description. The first expansion is Balarāma, Baladeva. *Nāyam ātmā bala-hīnena labhyaḥ.* It is... In the *Upaniṣad* it is said, "*Ātmā,* the Supreme Soul, cannot be understood without being favored by Balarāma." This *balarāma* sometimes misunderstood as the bodily strength, that "Without physical strength, nobody can attain the Supreme Personality of Godhead." But that is not the fact. *Bala-hīnena* means one who is not favored by Balarāma or Nityānanda, he cannot make any progress to understand the Supreme Personality of Godhead. That is the real meaning, *bala-hīnena:* "without the favor of Balarāma." Balarāma is *guru-tattva,* and Balarāma is present in this age as Nityānanda. So *bala-hīnena labhyaḥ* does not mean "without any physical strength." One has to get favor of Nityānanda Prabhu. Nityānanda Prabhu, *katiya mohan, avadhya karuna sindhu katiya mohan, durlabha kṛṣṇa-prema kare jare tare jana.*[?] There is a song like that.

**Harikeśa:** Oh, because people can't see life in fire, they think there's no life in it, so therefore there's no life in the sun. But it's just like the Tata factory. When you see it from a distance there's many flames and fires, but inside there's many people who are working. Therefore just because you can't see life in fire doesn't mean it's not there. We see life in the earth, we see life in the water, we see life in the air, so why not in the fire? Is that all right?
**Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:** Well, one question is that the people in the Tata factory are not actually in the fire.
**Prabhupāda:** So they are also not in the fire. I say even if it is in the fire, there is no harm, because the living soul is not burned to fire. That is stated in the *Bhagavad-gītā. Adāhyo 'yam. Dāhya.* [[bg/2/24|[Bg. 2.24] ]] Dāhya* means burned. It is not burned. These are wrong conception. Because they have no conception of the soul, they think *bhaṣmi bhūtasya dehasya:* "When the body is burned, then the soul is also burned."* [Sage Cārvāka] If the soul is burned, then where is the question of *tathā dehāntara-prāptiḥ* [[bg/2/13|[Bg. 2.13] ]]? How? In the Hindu system they burn the body. So if the soul is also burned, then where is *punar janma*? You?

This is Prahlāda Mahārāja. He is one of the authorities of Kṛṣṇa consciousness. There are twelve authorities mentioned in the *śāstras:*

**Dr. Patel:** They're more religious, yes. My children... My son does not eat, I told you the other day, even tomatoes. The boy has passed examinations, so he's going to States for the fellowship, and I don't know what he'll do there.
**Prabhupāda:** [laughs] No. If you don't like to eat tomato, who is going to force you? That is not...
**Dr. Patel:** Hindu, that is wrong nomenclature. There is no Hindu *dharma.* It is a... Hindu is a way of life. Even Muslims live the same way, even Christians live the same way, the joint Hindu family. The *sanātana-dharma* is the real word. They just use it and then everyone says. I had it in a letter to American Consul about this America. In there I mentioned the *sanātana-dharma.* I have said *sanātana-dharma,* not Hindu *dharma.* I have mentioned like that. Real religion is the Vedic religion.

**Prabhupāda:** ...that a high-court judge, and he does not know what is God. How misfortunate he is. And he's speaking of God, "Surrender," all theoretical. They do not know what is surrender. If I say anybody that "Go to Dr. Patel and surrender unto him, and whatever he'll prescribe, you take it," but if he does not know what is Dr. Patel, then where he'll go, and what to surrender? This is their position. They speak big, big words but do not know where to go. It is not? What do you think?
**Prabhupāda:** Huh? That is the truth. Actually they do not know, and they cheat others, speaking about God. That is the difficulty. All rascals are doing that. And if I say, "All rascals," it is little harsh, but it has to be said. They do not know what is God, and they speak of God. Let them say frankly that "I do not know what is God." That is answered in the *Bhagavad-gītā: bahūnāṁ janmanām ante* [[bg/7/19|[Bg. 7.19] ]]. If they are sincere, then after many, many births... *Kleśo 'dhikataras teṣām avyaktāsakta...* [[bg/12/5|[Bg. 12.5] ]].
They do not know, and they do not accept *ācāryopāsanam.* The *ācārya* says, Rāmānujācārya says, Madhvācārya says, big, big *ācārya,* Caitanya Mahāprabhu... They will not believe them. They will speculate in their nonsense speculation. This is the difficulty. Without going to the *ācārya...* *Tad vijñānārthaṁ sa gurum evābhigacchet* [Muṇḍaka Upaniṣad* 1.2.12].* This is the Vedic process, how one can know. But they will speculate. *Ciraṁ vicinvan. Athāpi te deva padāmbuja-dvayaṁ jānāti tattvam... Athāpi te deva padāmbuja-dvayam, leśānugṛhīta eva hi jānāti tattvaṁ na cānya eko 'pi ciraṁ vicinvan* [[sb/10/14/29|[SB. 10.14.29] ]].

**Prabhupāda:** ...he gave me an introductory letter. Yes. So he received me well. In the beginning I was staying in his care. But I did not say anything, but I knew everything.
**Prabhupāda:** I was his guest. He was receiving nicely. Of course, I was indirectly saying him that "You are not doing nice," but what more I could do?
**Yogi Amrit Desai:** Yes. I just... I have so much love for you, and I said I must come for a *darśana.*

**Gopāla Kṛṣṇa:** He spoke to me this morning. He has to go back for some time to Southeast Asia, but he's willing to stay in India and travel between centers. He's a very nice *sannyāsī,* and I think it would be a very good idea.
**Gopāla Kṛṣṇa:** He is giving a class right now. But he cannot go... He told me that he has to go to Southeast Asia first because he has books and everything.
**Hari-śauri:** He has two men there still. There's two men there still, and they have about two and a half thousand books still to distribute. He said one of the reasons he wanted to come was 'cause there's no center in Hong Kong... [end]
