Srila Prabhupada Archive

Here we are going to restore the “On this day” section, add topics, tags… It can be done semi-automatically, but first we need the index. This is my main objective, to digitize the index, from where everything will be built. Please don’t mind that the site remains unfinished. This is a one man’s hobby project over the years, sometimes moving slow, sometimes not at all, sometimes fast. Now I am working on restoring the books, with proper links and navigation.

Due to depleted funds, I had to switch over to a development server, where I had a new in-the-works version that was going to be super nice and cool, future proof. Instead it crashes and I have to involve a developer to figure it out. My plan was to surprise everyone with a new version when it was finished, however it seems Krishna wanted to humble me out and make me surrender. Please pray for me so I can actually do it…

At one point last year I got an inquiry from the BBTi copyright department regarding our image galleries. So we decided to take them down until we work out what sizes we are allowed to share and how others can use them. We’re unable to pay for media CDN server, which is why the audio isn’t available. I’m hoping to restore this shortly, in the meantime you can use PrabhupadaVani.org for lectures, where we contributed content back in the days.

Over the years we have received around 3,5k from kind donors. You can see our lifetime fundraising at Donorbox, in the name of transparency. That covers about half of our web server expenses up till now (since 2015). The rest has come from our own pockets, but we’ve run out of pocketses! We could blame it on world economy, but the harsh reality is that without sufficient funds, this website shuts down…

Frequently Asked Questions

We aim to make a central repository for all Srila Prabhupada’s original books and documents, that anyone with a GitHub compatible app can download to their computer or iPad device, and contribute corrections and translations to. It should follow the original books, though, no change or deviation.

At one time vedabase.net was a big inspiration for me, with its simple interface and green links. I was a web developer at Vanipedia back in the days. I’ve got loose ties with PrabhupadaBooks.com, contributed overlapping content to PrabhupadaVani.org and Vedabase.io. I also love the VedaBase:)

Hahaha! You must have me mixed up with someone else. This project was built from scratch, exported meticulously from the “original” VedaBase app, with permission from Bhaktivedanta Archives to publish online, possibly collaborate on new, exciting projects.

This is a one man’s hobby project. Over the years I’ve had many realisations of how to make websites simpler and user friendlier, so I’m trying to make this humble website the best I can, and hopefully it will be useful to others as well. Mainly I built this website for myself, to read and study Prabhupada’s books in a “clicky” way, and later I was using it to read for my son, while proofreading outdated, digitised files.

As I was reading through the original books, I did corrections of text, put Sanskrit for Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam Canto 1-4, and launched the synonyms at one point. The index proved to be a much bigger project than I anticipated, and it’s been going slow. But the good news is that now I am soon able to get back to work on that, as soon as the books and other content works satisfactorily again.
