He will take us to [indistinct].
Śyāmasundara: Our guide. Where is our guide?
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: What is happening now? [break]
**Prabhupāda:**
...not available; then you can go. I can sit down here. My first time. Where is that guide? Where is that man?
Śyāmasundara: They say he went to get the palanquin. He is coming down. [break]
**Indian:**
[Transl. There he comes. He is coming.] [break]
[in another temple location; *kīrtana*]
**Devotee:**
Okay. Wait a minute. Stop.
**Prabhupāda:**
Make it here. I can walk.
**Devotee:**
Okay. Stop here.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Down. Down, down, down.
**Devotees:**
*Jaya.* All glories to Prabhupāda!
**Prabhupāda:**
*Jaya!*
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: It's this way, I think. It's a little wet here, Prabhupāda.

[Transl. One for there one for here. If you give to Rādhā your life will be successful.]
Dr. Kapoor: [Transl. Now give us *prasāda*.]
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: All right, just... [break] One rupee? One rupee.

Dr. Kapoor: [Transl. From upstairs you can view the whole area around.]
[break] [background conversation among devotees] [break]
**Vrajavāsīs:**
[Transl. Give us some donations, please Bābā.]
**Prabhupāda:**
[Transl. Give five rupees.]
**Vrajavāsīs:**
[Transl. Please Bābā, eleven rupees.]
Dr. Kapoor: [Transl. No, five.]
**Vrajavāsīs:**
[Transl. Eleven please. Ok. As you like.]
Dr. Kapoor: [Transl. Do not fight.]
**Vrajavāsīs:**
[Transl. No fighting. How you are speaking? Being an educated person you are...]
**Prabhupāda:**
[Transl. How much should we give him?]
**Vrajavāsīs:**
[Transl. That's what I am asking? Yes, brother, how much you want?]
Vrajavāsīs (2): [Transl. When they go down they can give.]
**Prabhupāda:**
[Transl. No, this man brought us upstairs. And why you are taking the empty one back?]
Dr. Kapoor: [Transl. You brought him up, no?]
**Vrajavāsīs:**
[Transl. Yes.]
Dr. Kapoor: [Transl. Tell how much you want?]
**Vrajavāsīs:**
[Transl. After he goes down I will tell.]
Dr. Kapoor: [Transl. Tell now for both. Finish the problem.]
**Vrajavāsīs:**
[Transl. Total give me five and half rupees.]
Dr. Kapoor: [Transl. We will give you two rupees only.]
**Vrajavāsīs:**
[Transl. Then palanquin will not go. Give three rupees. I am working hard and I should get that much.]
**Prabhupāda:**
[Transl. What do you want?]
Dr. Kapoor: [Transl. He will take at least three or four rupees. After all he is also serving. All right let him...]
**Devotee:**
...if they get hold of the tape recorder, they'll steal it. [break]
**Prabhupāda:**
[Transl. This is Jaipur House?]
Dr. Kapoor: [Transl. The Mahārāja of Jaipur had built it.]
[indistinct discussion among devotees.]
[*kīrtana—Govindam* prayers]
**Prabhupāda:**
*Jaya.*
Dr. Kapoor: She's gone to Rādhā's village. That's why. But...
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: It's closed.
**Devotee:**
Open it up.
Dr. Kapoor:** [Transl. What time will it open, *paṇḍitjī*?]
Paṇḍitjī: [Transl.4 o clock.]
[discussion about opening Deity doors]
Devotee (2): It's too late.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Maybe they won't open them.
**Prabhupāda:**
Not very important. *Jaya.*
Paṇḍitjī: [Transl. You can do *parikramā*.]
Dr. Kapoor: [Transl. We can do *parikramā*. Can't we have *darśana* now?]
Paṇḍitjī: [Transl. No. The Deities are taking rest.]
**Prabhupāda:**
[Transl. That's all right.]
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Prabhupāda, Gargamuni says there are very beautiful paintings inside. Do you want to see them? On the walls.
**Prabhupāda:**
On the wall? I don't... If you like, you can see.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: No...
**Prabhupāda:**
We can go and see. Come, I shall sit down. Go and see.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Ah, well if...
Dr. Kapoor: Four o'clock...
**Prabhupāda:**
No, no. Not four o'clock. There are some paintings he wants to see... [Hindi] All right, Śrīla dāsī. *Parikramā.*
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: We've come so far, we should see something.
[background conversation]
Paṇḍitjī: [Transl.No leather allowed.]
Dr. Kapoor: [Transl. No leather. This is rexin. We don't have leather with us.]
Paṇḍitjī: [checks]
**Devotee:**
That's *Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam*.
**Prabhupāda:**
Nice building.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Can I build such a building in New York?
**Prabhupāda:**
You can build, but it will be very expensive.
Indian devotee: All stone, Prabhupāda. Over a century.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Prabhupāda, many of these things seem to be the way you describe for Māyāpur temple.
**Prabhupāda:**
Yes. We have got our plan in this way. Inside, we have got our plan like this.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Ah.
**Nara-Nārāyaṇa**: Twice as high, and three times wider.
**Prabhupāda:**
Yes.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Ah.This seems to be the kind of siding that you describe, Prabhupāda.
**Prabhupāda:**
Yes.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: This grating.
**Prabhupāda:**
Yes.
Paṇḍitjī:** [Transl.Everyone come here after *darśana* and take *caraṇāmrta*.]
[background conversation]
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Everything is impermanent.
**Devotee:**
That's what Prabhupāda says.
[various people describing what they are seeing in the paintings]
Paṇḍitjī: [explaining the paintings] [Transl. This is childhood pastime. This is *Kāliya-damana* pastimes when Bhagavān chastised Kāliyā. That is *udūkhala* pastimes when Kṛṣṇa was bound to a wooden grinding mortar. This is when Bhagavān lifted the Govardhana hill. And this *mahātma* lives here and does *bhajana*. Great saint.]
**Prabhupāda:* [Transl.Give him one rupee.]
Paṇḍitjī: [Transl. Never asks anything from anyone.]
[break] [Prabhupāda coughing]
**Prabhupāda:**
Can you give me a little water?
**Devotee:**
Water.
Indian man: [Transl.Water. Water.]
[people go to get water; Hindi discussion]
**Prabhupāda:**
[Transl. No. I don't need a glass.]
Paṇḍitjī: [Transl. Do you want a glass, Bābā?]
**Prabhupāda:**
[Transl. Where is glass?]
Paṇḍitjī: [Transl.Hey, bring get a glass.]
**Prabhupāda:**
[Transl.No, this is enough.]
Paṇḍitjī: [Transl. The water here is very sweet.]
**Prabhupāda:**
[Transl.We may need more water.]
Paṇḍitjī: [Transl. Take as much as you want.]
**Prabhupāda:**
[Transl. That's all. That's all. No. Not more.]
**Devotee:**
Too much water here.
Devotee (2): Too much water.
**Prabhupāda:**
Keep it.
**Devotee:**
[indistinct] keep it. [break]
Paṇḍitjī: [Transl.All this is *Gaṅgājala*.]
**Devotee:**
Sarasvatī keep it. [break]
[Paṇḍitjī chants some blessing *mantras*]
Vrajavāsī lady: Jaya ho! Hari bol!
**Prabhupāda:**
Let us go.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Let us go. [break]
[in different location; *kīrtana*]
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: This is beautiful here. Look at the paintings. Rādhārāṇī was born here?
**Prabhupāda:**
Rādhārāṇī was born there.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: And Kṛṣṇa was born in... He was raised in Nanda-grāma.
**Prabhupāda:**
Gokula. We shall go tomorrow.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Kṛṣṇa, He lived inNanda-grāma?
**Prabhupāda:**
Hah?
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: He lived in Nanda-grāma when He was young?
**Prabhupāda:**
Yes, when there was too much disturbance of the demons, Nanda Mahārāja's elder brother decided that "We cannot live here. Let us leave this place." He has given that picture, and there is a cart, a bullock cart.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Then they moved to Vṛndāvana?
**Prabhupāda:**
Yes.
**Devotee:**
Prabhupāda? And Vasudeva took Kṛṣṇa across the Yamunā all the way up to this hill up here?
**Prabhupāda:**
Yes, yes.
**Devotee:**
Very long walk.
**Prabhupāda:**
Not here; on the other side.
**Devotee:**
On the other hill.
**Prabhupāda:**
Gokula. And when He was three, four years old, then He was brought to Nanda-grāma. [break]
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: ...place to live is the highest spot. That is the nicest place?
**Prabhupāda:**
Yes. The whole world may be inundated. [break] Royal palaces were made on the hills. Not only...
[aside:] Be careful; you are going...
[break] Himalaya it is like this. Thousands of miles—stone, stone, stone. I have traveled from Jammu to Kashmir by bus. And hundreds and thousands of miles, only stone like this.
**Devotee:**
They put. They put it there.
**Prabhupāda:**
Don't go there. Why you are going by that path?
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Prabhupada?Govardhana is stone?
**Prabhupāda:**
Yes, one thousand stones.
[break] To ride on this palanquin is very comfortable, [laughter] at the cost of others. [laughs]
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: We should construct one, Prabhupāda, for the remainder of the trip.
**Prabhupāda:**
It is better than any other vehicle. Formerly, kings were being carried by palanquin. They did not like carriage. Carriage... Palanquin was transformed to carriage first in England—palanquin-carriage, drawn by horse.
[break] How much fine work in marble stone.
**Indian:**
[Transl. This is Rādhārāṇī's place. Birth place.]
**Prabhupāda:**
This is the spot...
**Devotee:**
This is the spot?
**Prabhupāda:**
...where Rādhārāṇī was born.
**Devotees:**
Oh, wow. Right there?
**Prabhupāda:**
Rādhāṣṭamī. Fifteen days younger than Kṛṣṇa. [break]
[at another location]
**Vrajavāsī:**
[Transl. Bābā, we are not beggars. We are *pūjārīs* of Śrījī. We are not beggars. We are asking only from you and not from anyone else! Cow dung, they use for fuel.] Cow dung, they use for fuel.
**Devotee:**
They dry it for chips?
**Prabhupāda:**
Yes... No, they dry it for using as fuel.
**Devotee:**
Yes.It has a very, very nice fragrance.
**Prabhupāda:**
Mm. [break] Cow, anything of cow is useful: urine, dung, everything. Skin, hoof, horn, milk—everything. [break] Small pieces.
**Vrajavāsī:**
[Transl.Bābā, give to *vrajavāsīs*.]
**Prabhupāda:**
[Transl. We gave to the *vrajavāsīs*.]
**Vrajavāsī:**
[Transl.I was not up there in the temple. I am a *vrajavāsī*. I sit here only. If everyone takes it all...]
**Prabhupāda:* [Transl. There, we gave to the *vrajavāsīs* already.]
**Vrajavāsī:**
[Transl. Here we haven't got anything. Here the *vrajavāsīs*...]
**Prabhupāda:**
[Transl. There, they said they will distribute to everybody.]
**Vrajavāsī:**
[Transl. They are different and we are different.]
**Prabhupāda:**
[Transl.We gave already.]
**Vrajavāsī:**
[Transl. We are from Vṛṣabhānu's place. Up there they are different. Give something for the Vṛṣabhānu's *vrajavāsīs*. Where did you give? At least give something to the sweeper.]
**Prabhupāda:* [Transl.Yes, give to the sweeper. We gave to the *vrajavāsīs* already there.]
**Indian:**
[Transl. I want to ask you that would you like go back to the bus or rest a while here?]
**Prabhupāda:**
[Transl. Go to the bus.] [break]
**Devotee:**
Take it. Take it. [break]
**Vrajavāsī:**
[Transl. Mahārājajī, give us ten rupees. We didn't get. We are many. Hari bol! Please give us.]
**Prabhupāda:**
[Transl. How much did you get?]
**Vrajavāsī:**
[Transl.Four rupees.]
**Prabhupāda:**
[Transl. He gave you four rupees.] [break]
**Vrajavāsī:**
[Transl. Jaya Śrī Kṛṣṇa! We want your blessings. May all of become become blessed.]
**Prabhupāda:**
...one rupee. Give me one rupee. [leaves in bus]
**Devotee:**
Yes, it's true. Vṛndāvana is like everywhere, because it's been like this all my life, Śrīla Prabhupāda. [break]
**Vrajavāsī:**
[Transl. I didn't get anything.]
**Prabhupāda:**
[Transl. What can I do if you haven't got it? We gave for everyone.]
**Indian:**
[Transl. Is everyone in?]
**Prabhupāda:**
Distribute one thousand rupees, still... This is the position of pilgrimage. [break]
Dr. Kapoor: Prabhupāda, shall you take the *prasādam* before or after?
**Indian:* [Transl. What about bathing?]
Dr. Kapoor: [Transl. Bathing arrangement is in Govardhana, Mānasī gaṅgā.]
**Prabhupāda:**
[to bus driver:] [Transl.Call your man.]
**Driver:**
[Transl.Your man is gone.]
**Prabhupāda:**
[Transl. Is everyone in or not?]
**Driver:**
[Transl. He is not here now.]
**Prabhupāda:**
[Transl.Where did he go?]
**Driver:**
[Transl. He has gone to the market.]
**Prabhupāda:**
[Transl. What is he doing in the market?] [break]
**Devotee:**
There's that man. [break]
**Prabhupāda:**
Why they are there?
**Devotee:**
Devahuti mātājī is here.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: She's just getting on now, taking... I don't know why she took so long.
**Prabhupāda:**
Why you are taking so much time? Sit down, sit down. [Transl. Let us go. Whoever is left out let him remain.] [break]
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: [in bus] That old man is there, that old man at the Dāmodara.
**Prabhupāda:**
Why that old man gets down? Huh?
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: The old man should stay here now.
**Prabhupāda:**
No, we cannot. [break] ...never come to these places, only for business.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: I see.
**Prabhupāda:**
I know. Only bothering. Only bothering.
**Devotee:**
In this way Vṛndāvana is everywhere. This has been like it all my life. [break]
**Prabhupāda:**
...Narottama dāsa Ṭhākura has said, *tīrtha yātrā pariśrama sakali manera bhrama*. [*Prem-bhakti-candrikā* 3.5] *Tīrtha* *yātrā*, to go to the pilgrimage, that is simply laboring. *Manera bhrama*. Mistake of the mind. He did not like to chant Hare Kṛṣṇa at a place.
**Devotee:**
Is Rādhākuṇḍa like this also? [break]
**Prabhupāda:**
[Transl. It would be better if Rādhākuṇḍa was first.]
**Indian:**
[Transl. First Govardhana will come then Rādhā-kuṇḍ.]
**Prabhupāda:**
[Transl. All right let us go to Govardhana first.]
**Indian:**
[Transl. Where should the devotees take their bath, in Rādhā-kuṇḍa or Mānasī-gaṅgā in Govardhana?]
**Prabhupāda:**
[Transl. Can they take bath in Govardhana?]
**Indian:**
[Transl. As you order. If you want in Radha-kuṇḍa then that can be arranged.]
**Prabhupāda:**
[Transl. In that case we have to go to Rādhā-kuṇḍa first.]
**Indian:**
[Transl. Two or three minutes only. The vehicle will go. Two or three minutes distance from Rādhā-kuṇḍa to Govardhana. So let us go to Rādhā-kuṇḍa first.]
Śyāmasundara: Is that Govardhana Hill right there?
**Devotee:**
It's small.
Śyāmasundara: That's Govardhana Hill right there? It's so small! There's Govardhana Hill!
**Devotee:**
The cows are still taking shelter.
[arrival at Kusuma-Sarovara—Hindi greetings]
**Prabhupāda:**
[to devotee:] You are taking a bath?
**Devotee:**
In the morning. Yes.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: I took mine at three o'clock.
**Indian:**
[Transl. Will you take a bath?]
**Prabhupāda:**
[Transl. I have to take bath. Where should we take bath?]
**Indian:**
[Transl. At Mānasī-gaṅgā, Mahārāja. All tanks are there.]
**Prabhupāda:**
That's all right. [break]
[background discussion in Hindi]
**Prabhupāda:**
I may not take bath.
**Devotee:**
I'll ask, Prabhupāda. There should be no inconvenience.
**Indian:**
He says Prabhupāda will take bath here. But this place is...
**Vrajavāsī:**
[Transl. They are not from Gauḍīya Maṭha. Not from Gauḍīya Maṭha. They are followers of Śyāmābāi. Come here and do some *ācamana*.]
**Indian:**
[Transl. How harsh they speak. Just can't speak sweet words.]
**Prabhupāda:**
[Transl. I have got a *loṭa*.]
**Vrajavasi:**
[Transl. Call your other devotees.]
**Prabhupāda:**
[Transl. They won't bathe here.] You can take a bath if you like. I shall stay here.
[background discussion among devotees about bathing]
**Devotee:**
There is a palace there.
**Prabhupāda:**
What is that?
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Said something about that we should take bath here.Ifwe don't want to take bath, where shall we stay?
**Prabhupāda:**
Somebody may remain here and some can go.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: I'll stay here.
**Prabhupāda:**
He will stay, and others can see.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: I've seen it before.
**Prabhupāda:**
You have seen.
**Devotee:**
I have seen also.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: What is happening? Is there someone who would take us?
**Indian:**
Yes, he is going. Our guide will come with us.
[more discussion among devotees]
**Prabhupāda:**
Where is that palace?]
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: I think everyone's a bit tired.
**Prabhupāda:**
Let them take rest,
**Devotee:**
Take *prasādam* and rest.
**Prabhupāda:**
