# Surrender to Krishna *On the ultimate instruction of all scriptures* --- ### Only One Solution > For them they don't have to try separately to attain the Brahman conception of life, because those who are engaged in devotional service he has attained the *Brahma buta* stage, he does not have to try separately for self realization, he is very ahead, that is why it is said in *Bhagavatam, Dharma prohjitta kaitava,* the real religion is to surrender to the Lotus feet of God, God himself comes and teaches us *Sarva-dharmān parityajya mām ekaṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja,* it is a very simple straight forward thing but we will not accept simple things, by our intelligence, we will accept something from here and there and then we will have to become miserable, what can be done. There is only one solution to attain peace, that is to surrender to the Lotus feet of God. — [[spoken/1971/710201cc.all|Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta Lecture in Hindi, Allahabad, February 1, 1971]] --- ### Only Surrendered Soul Can Understand > So that sort of qualification is not very good qualification. One should be actually a surrendered soul. That will make him qualified. *Mām eva ye prapadyante māyām.* Here it is said, *spṛṣṭa-māyāḥ.* Even such qualified *brāhmaṇas,* they are also *spṛṣṭa-māyāḥ,* contaminated by the touch of *māyā, māyā-grasta.* He is not free. But Kṛṣṇa says, *mām eva ye prapadyante māyām etāṁ taranti te*. Only a fully surrendered soul to Kṛṣṇa is able to get out of the contamination of *māyā.* Therefore such surrendered soul can understand what is Kṛṣṇa, not others. — [[spoken/1971/710204sb.gor|Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 6.3.12–15, Gorakhpur, February 4, 1971]] --- ### Krishna Does Not Reveal Himself to Everyone > *Tan māyā-mohitam, mohitād na jānanty ity uktam.* So the conclusion is that *nāhaṁ prakāśaḥ sarvasya yogamāyā-samāvṛtaḥ.* Kṛṣṇa says, "I am not revealed to everyone." *Yogamāyā.* Therefore very few person can understand what is Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa does not reveal Himself. Those who are devotees... *Sevonmukhe hi jihvādau svayam eva sphuraty adaḥ.* — [[spoken/1971/710204sb.gor|Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 6.3.12–15, Gorakhpur, February 4, 1971]] --- ### Not Enjoyer but Servant > *Harāv abhaktasya.* The one who is not devotee of Kṛṣṇa, he has no good qualification. Why? Because they are moving on mental platform: "I shall enjoy." But he is not enjoyer. Any one of us, are we enjoyer actually? We are not enjoyer; we are servant. Therefore Caitanya Mahāprabhu's philosophy is *jīvera 'svarūpa' haya—'nitya kṛṣṇa -dāsa'.* — [[spoken/1971/710203sb.gor|Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 6.3.12, Gorakhpur, February 3, 1971]] --- ### The Real Guru > *Kintu prabhor yaḥ priya eva tasya.* But he has attained that position on account of his being very, very dear to God. Because doing God's work. Eh? God says, "Surrender unto Me." *Guru* is preaching. That is real *guru.* He's preaching, "Surrender to Kṛṣṇa." He'll never say, "Surrender unto Me." — [[spoken/1974/740223mw.bom|Morning Walk, Bombay, February 23, 1974]] --- ### To Understand Kṛṣṇa in Truth Requires Bhakti > In another place Kṛṣṇa says, *bhaktyā mām abhijānāti yāvān yaś cāsmi tattvataḥ*. Kṛṣṇa never says that "By mental speculation or yogic mystic practice, one can understand the Supreme Lord." Never says that. It is clearly said that *bhaktyā mām abhijānāti yāvān yaś cāsmi tattvataḥ.* *Tattvataḥ* means in truth. To understand Kṛṣṇa in truth, that requires *bhakti* or *bhakti-yoga,* not the *jñāna-yoga* or *karma-yoga, haṭha-yoga* or any other *yoga* system. — [[spoken/1974/740601bg.gen|Bhagavad-gītā 4.11, Geneva, June 1, 1974]] --- ### We Simply Say Surrender to God > Therefore you are confident that we are delivering the right message. We don't manufacture our own philosophy or words. We simply say, "Kṛṣṇa says, *sarva dharmān parityajya mām ekaṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja.* Kṛṣṇa, God, says that 'You simply surrender unto Me, I take charge of you.' " We are preaching the same philosophy, that you surrender to God and you'll become happy, because God takes charge of you. We don't manufacture our word. That is not cheating. — [[spoken/1971/710905r1.lon|Room Conversation with Dr. Ware of the Mensa Society, London, September 5, 1971]] --- *7 verified verbatim quotes from Śrīla Prabhupāda on surrender to Krishna*
