# Demigods *On the position of the demigods and their worship* --- ### Demigod Worship for Those with Lost Intelligence > Kṛṣṇa is ultimate. He says, *aham ādir hi devānām.* He is the supreme of all the demigods. There is no need of worshiping any other demigod. Kṛṣṇa says, *kāmais tais tair hṛta-jñānāḥ yajanty anya-devatāḥ. Hṛta-jñāna. Hṛta-jñāna* means who has lost his intelligence. How he has lost his intelligence? Because they get from these demigods some temporary benefit. *Antavat tu phalaṁ teṣāṁ tad bhavaty alpa-medhasām.* — [[spoken/1975/751225bg.san|Bhagavad-gītā 7.1, San Diego, December 25, 1975]] --- ### God Is Worshipful > Kṛṣṇa says that "Those who are worshipers of other demigods..." Actually worshipful is the Supreme Lord, Kṛṣṇa. Others, they should be shown respect. But worship means for the Supreme Personality of Godhead. He is worshipful. *Śaraṇyam.* He is to be taken shelter of; He is to be worshiped. That is being taught. That is religion. *Man-manā bhava mad-bhakto mad-yājī māṁ namaskuru.* — [[spoken/1973/730727bg.lon|Bhagavad-gītā 1.37–39, London, July 27, 1973]] --- ### Not for the Solution of Life > That is not the solution. You have got now this very good body—you are enjoying—but in the next life you may not. So that is not the solution. Therefore for temporary benefits if anyone worships the demigods, he is to be called as lost of all intelligence. Therefore Kṛṣṇa says *mām ekaṁ.* Don't bother yourself with any other worship. Simply... — [[spoken/1970/701226sb.sur|Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 6.1.44, Surat, December 26, 1970]] --- ### Senses Cannot Understand God > Therefore Lord says, *na me viduḥ sura-gaṇāḥ.* Even the demigods cannot understand. The demigods are very exalted. *Sura-gaṇāḥ* means demigods like Brahmā, Śiva, and many other chiefs. They are also not fully aware of Kṛṣṇa. Even Kṛṣṇa's mother. — [[spoken/1966/661230bg.ny|Bhagavad-gītā 10.1–3, New York, December 30, 1966]] --- ### Demigods Are Chief Executives > We can understand from His speech that in the sun planet there is a king whose name is Vaivasva..., Vivasvata. And Kṛṣṇa says that "I spoke to Vivasvān." So Vivasvān... Now, nobody can say when the sun planet was created. But we can calculate, as it is said, *vivasvān manave prāhuḥ,* that Vivasvān, he explained to Manu. — [[spoken/1975/750727sb.sd|Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 6.1.46, San Diego, July 27, 1975]] --- ### Kṛṣṇa Is Supreme of Demigods > This should be preached, that Kṛṣṇa is the supreme, ultimate. *Ahaṁ sarvasya prabhavo mattaḥ sarvaṁ pravartate.* Even Brahman, Paramātmā, has also come from Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa is ultimate. He says, *aham ādir hi devānām.* He is the supreme of all the demigods. — [[spoken/1975/751225bg.san|Bhagavad-gītā 7.1, San Diego, December 25, 1975]] --- ### God Appears as Incarnation > The incarnation of God, why does He come? That is explained in the *Bhagavad-gītā. Yadā yadā hi dharmasya glānir bhavati. Tadātmānaṁ sṛjāmy aham.* The incarnation of God comes... When there is discrepancy all over the world about religious principle, the incarnation comes. So Lord Caitanya says that in the Satya-yuga this incarnation of God in white color, He preached meditation, *dhyāna.* — [[spoken/1966/661224cc.ny|Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 20.330–335, New York, December 24, 1966]] --- ### There Is Life in the Sun Planet > Kṛṣṇa says that "I spoke to sun-god." So by hearing this *śruti,* we understand that there is also life and there is also system, the government, the chief executive. Everything is there. And that is by *śruti anumīyate. Anumīyate* means you can imagine; it is a fact. — [[spoken/1975/750727sb.sd|Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 6.1.46, San Diego, July 27, 1975]] --- *8 verified verbatim quotes from Śrīla Prabhupāda on the demigods*
