# Śrīla Prabhupāda's Disappearance Day > Entering the eternal pastimes of the Lord **Observed:** November 14, 1977 (Kārtika, Vṛndāvana) --- ## His Final Days On November 14, 1977, at 7:26 PM in the holy land of Vṛndāvana, Śrīla Prabhupāda departed from this world. He left his body in his room at the Kṛṣṇa-Balarāma Mandir, surrounded by his loving disciples who were chanting the holy names. He had specifically chosen to spend his final days in Vṛndāvana, the land of Kṛṣṇa, fulfilling the Vaiṣṇava principle of leaving one's body in the holy dhāma. --- ## His Final Instructions Even in his last days, Śrīla Prabhupāda continued to translate Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, completing work on the Tenth Canto. His final instruction to his disciples was to cooperate and continue spreading Kṛṣṇa consciousness. > Your love for me will be shown by how much you cooperate to keep this institution together after I am gone. > > — Śrīla Prabhupāda --- ## Separation and Remembrance For Vaiṣṇavas, the disappearance of a pure devotee is a time of both lamentation and celebration.
