# Gītā Jayantī
> The Ekādaśī that grants liberation
**Also known as:** Gītā Jayantī — the day Bhagavad-gītā was spoken
---
## Significance
Mokṣadā Ekādaśī occurs during the waxing moon of the month of Mārgaśīrṣa (November-December). This is one of the most auspicious Ekādaśīs because it commemorates the day when Lord Kṛṣṇa spoke the Bhagavad-gītā to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukṣetra.
The name "Mokṣadā" means "bestower of liberation." Observing this Ekādaśī with devotion is said to free one from the cycle of birth and death.
